Good luck in your PT debut. You had an interesting team in PCT but no top leaders, so probably you'll have to do a big re-build to survive. So if you need to sell, let's say... Marquez , i guess we might understand each other

Indeed... Also very interesting to see if it is possible for 2 teams to have a portugise focus at such a high level. Some of the biggest native riders are on their way back, such as Machado, Vinhas, Rodrigues, Costa, Mendes and Avellino, while there isn't really a new big name upcoming.
Will be very interesting to see if this is a season where some new talent arrives, or if the two teams will have to fight for eachothers riders or move more abroad than so far.

Echoing Aquarius' point - you've got some ready buyers if you're willing to sell!
Good luck in your maiden PT season, hoping you'll put together a roster turnaround like last year's to keep your head safely above water.

It'll definitely be interesting to see our dynamics in the transfer season. While I agree with SotD that the top stars are deteriorating, the selection base has gotten stronger imo, as you can see by this years' TTT WC.
The only realistic new additions that could have been made are the Oliveira brothers, but as sprinters we already have Avelino, Silvestre and Coutinho, so...
Good luck fintas!

First of all thanks for the support guys..
Aquarius97 and Booker, it is still not possible to talk about transfers, but I can still say that as every year I am receptive to all kinds of proposals. Then at the right time we will talk.
As for the remodeling of the team is something that I certainly have to do, but I also know that it will be impossible to do it without having to put aside the idea of having a team composed mostly by Portuguese.
At present, the market does not have the capacity to support two teams at the top level with national leaders. Silvestre and Paulinho are able to with some training assume this leadership role, but beyond these two no one else has the capacity to do so.
In this transfer market the objective is to ensure leaders capable of fighting with the best, the nationality of these same leaders is secondary

Another year, another headache this year was more complicated to go through this process. With the arrival of the team to the PT everything had to be considered because we could not go crazy as the team needs to be greatly improved to become competitive. I think everything went well and we were able to renew with all the cyclists we wanted without compromising the future of the team.

Good renewals, with your main riders staying and still able to open the wage possibilities further you've gotta know where to use it well

After four days of hard battles, many uncertainties and above all many twists, it's finally time to announce the team's first reinforcement.
Mattia Cattaneo coming from T-Mobile will be one of the leaders in our debut year in the main division of world cycling.
A business that was anything but easy to accomplish, it was one of our defined targets for this season. But for his hiring to be possible we had to give up on our previous leader, Marquez was part of the deal and went the other way signing for T-Mobile.
Last season the Italian rider achieved his best ever performance, achieving some good results as the final podium in the Criterium du Dauphine Libere and 5th place in the Giro d'italia as well as the victory in stage 20. Which earned him the 36th place in the final classification in ProTour.

Today is a great day for the team, with the hiring of one who may already be considered one of the legends of the MG, with 38 victories in his professional career Robert Gesink is one of the most victorious ever. The current TT world champion signed after a deal that involved paying 1.6M to his previous team. Obviously he will be the maximum leader of the team, his abilities give guarantees of good results throughout the season. Not many wins are expected but as in previous years his consistency should guarantee precious points so that the team can stay in ProTour in this year of debut.

Also during the day was confirmed the signing of the Portuguese Ruben Guerreiro, who after a year without competing returns to have the possibility of developing as a cyclist.

Cattaneo and Gesink are an absolutely amazing duo, and Guerreiro is a very cool talent, and a home one too!

Team finally complete and ready to start the season. The transfer period ended a few days ago and in the last hours of that same period the team added 6 new rider to its squad.
Of those same riders, Dennis Van Winden should have the most important role in the team. A pure TT rider who should take the leading role in races like Chrono des Herbiers or Praha - Karlovy Vary - Praha. He had long been one of the team's targets but had always proved impossible to accomplish, and once again his hiring was far from easy to accomplish. The last season was not easy for the Dutchman who at the service of the MOL - OMV Petrom got only 47pts in the PCT, very little for a rider who has already proven that he can do much better as when in 2016 then to the Generali service got 316pts.

Alex Ariya Destribois is another rider hired by the team, the national champion of Laos will be a rider of extreme importance for both Gesink and Cattaneo. Capable of overtaking mountains and hills with ease will be a precious support to the leaders and who knows able to try their luck at one or another stage throughout the season.

Youcef Reguigui was free after seeing his previous team finish, after 3 years working for Berhane and Kudus the Algerian rider will now do everything to help our leaders. Working in the high mountain is his specialty, but also in the TTT can be an aid, is far from being a specialist in this aspect but still can be useful to the team.

The last rider hired by the team was the young Portuguese promise Jose Fernandes. At the age of 23 will have his first experience in prossifional cycling. He will be a specialist in the TT but will also have the ability to surpass the mountains which will help him in the hardest tts and also in races where the average mountain appears.

Last but not least the team reached an agreement with Equinor Pro Cycling and Valio - DeLaval for the loan for a season of Tormod Jacobsen and Awet Gebremedhin. The two riders will try their best to be of use to the team in any role assigned to them, as their main objective is to gain sufficient experience to be able to improve their qualities and be useful to their teams in the future.
