Difficult stage today and surely the one where the climbers need to gain time before the hill stages.

Ãšran the best of those and hence the top favourite and with good support. Though pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ers.png

Kudus as home rider and even better support as pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ers.png

Berhane basically is his helper but also a top 3 climber, though is surely a rider capable of challenging the Colombian today.

Another team to watch out today is Berg Cycles. The name already says it all, former winner pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/bgc.png

Marquez with his support Nazaret.

Pinot and Ji as next best climbers with less support though as also the allrounders Kwiatkowski, Roglic, Roche, that need to limit their loss today alongside outsider bets such as Van den Broeck, Schelling, Brenes, Chamorro...

An impressive number of 13 riders in todays breakaway and with a total of 16 teams only this obviously includes some GC teams trying to save energy behind today.

Izagirre, Denz, Frank and Antunes are the riders taking biggest points so far by the look of it. With twice a Cat.2 and as well twice a Cat.3 it`s a lot of points and realistically sees a change in that competition today.
Even more as the final climb offers more points as Veyhe as so far.

The top riders are in the front rows but it`s obvious that the home team Eritel is working the most with Niyonshuti and Khederi in the first two spots.

After the 4 hills only a few more than 50 riders left in the peloton and 2-3 decent names missing already. Biggest clearly pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tic.png

Chamorro, who was expected to be the better of the team`s duo as Costagli lacks the hill skills.

Reguigui as third Eritel rider but also other teams now as Fablok with Feillu and Minions with Sarmiento and Martinez work for their leaders now as well.

Just 2min gap and still almost 30km left. All uphill now.

With 14km to go the break basically was caught but it took until the 10km mark until Dall'Oste as last rider really was inside the peloton again as this was the moment pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ers.png

Teklehaimanot took over for Eritel and this saw a big speed up.

Hiratsuka and hence Meiji without GC rider anymore as also Gilanipoor is no longer in.

Well, not a lot happened when Teklehaimanot rode a steady but high pace and no one was willed or able to attack.

Kwiatkowski follows! Big news as he is probably the rider, that was needed to be dropped the most today.

In the end the result basically is that some riders get dropped. Bad for Eritel and Kudus that Berhane is on a weak day and one of them. Good for them Teklehaimanot is on a huge day and still in the first group.

Van den Broeck migth be biggest surprise next to him as also Costagli and Brenes, while most strongest are in the 11 rider top group.

Reichenbach and Zardini still fighting in the 3rd big group trying to limit their loss ahead of the hill stages while Roche doing the same with help of Poljanski but actually losing a bit more time already.

Berhane didn`t ride a single km in the wind hence his struggle is hugely surprising. Good for the team, he wasn`t planned as team leader here.

Brenes therefore coming further to the front again with Teklehaimanot having done his job and now dropping. Gaps getting bigger and the puncheurs already 2min and more behind except for Kwiatkowski this is!

Kudus vs. Kwiatkowski. Who wins the sprint of those two? Or can Scheling even come back as he seems to have closed the gap a bit.

Behind Marquez and Ji seem to have gapped Uran a bit, which really is a surprise.

It`s Kwiatkowski indeed passing Kudus on the line. The flatter top surely helped him to use his sprint and while Kudus showed a good race and his team (except Berhane) was incredible, not gaining time on a top allrounder such as Kwiatkowski surely makes it now difficult to win the GC. The Netia leader though the huge favourite now as the upcoming stages are in his favour.

Big race as well by Schelling. He crosses the line in 3rd. Just 33s behind the duo.

Pinot as 4th already 1'26 which shows the big gaps appearing in the final 3-4 kilometers today.

Marquez and Ji next. 1'38 in total and hence not far behind Pinot.
Nazaret in 7th at 1'52 and then Uran only in 8th at 2'08 rather disappointing for the top climber.

Roglic and Chiarello complete the top 10 at 2'28 with Brenes at 2'49 just outside.

VdB, Costagli and Teklehaimanot at 3'49 while Berhane is losing 4'18 even!

Reichenbach, Roche, Zardini at 5'14 and hence difficult to gain back that much on the hills.
