i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/ZimnyanyaGP_zps398429de.png

A very flat stage with no major rises in gradient and should be won by a sprinter

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-02_00001_zpse212ef6f.jpg

A lovely bright sunny and warm day as the riders began their 184km ride.

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-04_00001_zpsbe2d4b15.jpg

A four rider break went away at the beginning of the stage, they were i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/nor.png Bogataj i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/alp.png Rodriguez Parra i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Vauvourzeix i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png De Winde.

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-02_00004_zpsfd31ab08.jpg

The peleton let the break have a gap of around four to six minutes during the stage, clearly the bunch is on the hunt for the win

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-02_00010_zpsf8c46fe3.jpg

An early attack was launched by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/hrc.png Veelers with 43km still to go, he managed to open up a thirty second gap while the break still had 2'08” to the peleton. Unfortunately for the break and Veelers the bunch began hot pursuit of the escapees.

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-02_00009_zps888cc435.jpg

It took fifteen kilometers to reel in i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/hrc.png Veelers, the morning break still had 1'08”, so it looks like the break is doomed i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-02_00011_zps4fa02118.jpg 15km to go and the peleton is 40 seconds away so i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Vauvourzeix decided to abandon his breakaway companions and attack away from them, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/alp.png Rodriguez Parra and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/nor.png Bogatoj were unable to follow, however i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png De Winde didn't quite manage to follow i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Vauvourzeix, he still was able to hold off the peleton solo.

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-02_00014_zpse7a9a0d6.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Vauvourzeix was reeled in by the bunch with eight kilometers to go, De Winde was reeled in with eleven kilometres to go

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-02_00015_zpsf2ed7b59.jpg

There was a large split with eight kilometres to go, a total of twenty nine riders were dropped, some notable names were i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Docker, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/amx.png Keough, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kar.png Davis and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ven.png Van Avermaet

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bbk.png were the only team to set up a lead out train, they set up a train for The Manx Missille Cavendish, most of the sprinters in the peleton decided to follow the i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bbk.png leadout train.

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-02_00019_zps2a045d9b.jpg

Coming up to a ninety degree turn, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Ciolek was in the lead with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mei.png Napolitano on the right, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ven.png Van Stayen and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png Peeters were the two riders in the center, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ozc.png Goss was right there in the mix of looking for a gap between i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ven.png Van Stayen and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Ciolek

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2014-12-02_00020_zpse549cf59.jpg

Coming out of the bend i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Ciolek was still in the lead, however i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ozc.png Goss had found a gap and was accelerating

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ozc.png Goss managed to pass i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Ciolek on the home straight, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ven.png Van Stayen lost speed very quickly and began dropping back
