The Tour of Eritrea kicks off with a 86km flat stage, which should be the first of two chances for the sprinters to shine.

Greipel is considered as the top-favorite for an expected bunch sprint, but some others like local team Jaguar's Bennett will aim for the win as well.

A group of 3 riders reaches today's only KoM-sprint halfway through the stage with a 2'48"-gap on the already chasing bunch:

10km before finish, all escapees are reeled in by the peloton anyway: teams like Mobil, Privatbank and Bacardi shared the work in this pursuit.. bunch sprint ahead!

Privatbank's remaining two-men-train appears to be the strongest with now 1.5km to go:

So especially Vanderaerden did well to slip right behind Greipel, while Abdallah can't follow anymore.. Bennett also yet missed the right wheel it seems..

..but he seems to be back in business with also i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mac.png Granjel Cabrera finally kicking with an impressive speed to narrow the gap to Greipel, Vanderaerden and Aberasturi!

It's getting close for sure, as Aberasturi now tries to overtake Greipel! Vanderaerden loses some ground and sees Cabrera and Davis moving forward. Also Bennett still in the mix for the podium maybe..

A really strong finish for Cabrera, who's train struggled on that final 2-3km. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/jag.png Bennett and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kar.png Davis complete the Top-5 ahead of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Vanderaerden, who suffered from his efforts to catch Greipel's wheel, it seems.

Tomorrow's mountain stage will of course mix the whole GC, but those sprinters, who did well today, will be satisfied to have at least scored points for their teams. Bacardi with the race-lead already, that Intxausti has yet to keep in his team's colors tomorrow.
