The breakaway went away early.
Tanovitchii
Gougeard
Rowsell
Abreu
Semple
Craddock
Mullen
Altur
The gap rose up to 8 minutes at one point but as we are about to tackle the big climb for the 3rd and final time, with 21km to go, their lead is down to 1'15.
Gazelle, RBC, Swedbank, Venchi and Kenya Airways have all contributed to the pace making to reduce that gap.
Betancourt, Bellis and Ventoso are first to attack.
Ventoso can't follow, which is bad news for Monfort and Di Maggio who were on his wheel, but Ben Nasser does make it across to Bellis and Betancourt
Those 3 ride up to the breakaway while Monfort now has to chase instead.
The break/attackers group is caught now, but not by the whole peloton. A group of 38 emerges at the front.
Barrio has missed it and immediately tries to attack across, soon followed by Simon and Azanza.
Other strong riders to have missed the selection are:
Cobo
Taborre
Tiernan-Locke
Weening
Hatanaka
Salerno
Mancuso
Becerra
Ilias
Pakthusov
Kump
Rocchetti
A gap forms at the front, with 7 men clear.
Monfort
Bellis
Ben Nasser
Di Maggio
Skujins
Bobridge
Betancourt
There's a lack of urgency behind and though the gap doesnt grow too much initially, it isn't being closed either.
It is creeping up to 36 seconds when Mehr-Wenige leads the response.
Following the German are:
Hoogerland
Zaini
Ventoso
Dowsett
Rabon
Zeits
Visconti
McEvoy
Roy
But those moves don't affect the front of the race, as the lead 7 descend towards the finish line.
Of the 10 who tried to counter attack, only Ventoso, Rabon and Mcevoy get a gap.
Inside the final 4 kilometres and the 7 leads have a 30 second gap to the 3 chasers, with another 40 seconds to the larger group. Barredo is trying to chase, without much help besides some of the riders who'd been in the break all day.
Zaini launches a late bid to get clear but there is still nothing from Dowsett.
Ventoso is desperately trying to bridge the gap for a chance to sprint and defend his victory from last year, and though the gap is down to 25 seconds, he has run out of time.
Because the sprint is launching up ahead, and Ben Nasser has shown the weakest tactics and is being forced to lead it out.
Danger man Bellis is well placed on his wheel, so Bobridge decides to go for a long bid for glory.
Ventoso has lost hope with the victory chance gone and McEvoy looks to leave him and Rabon behind.
Bobridge opens up a gap but the rest are queueing up to pass Ben Nasser and go after him.
Still it is Bobridge leading into the final kilometre. Bellis and Di Maggio lead the pursuit.
Manxman Bellis is desperate for a 2nd victory in this home classic and starts to close the gap, while Betancourt passes a riding Di Maggio.
Jack Bobridge is going to hold on though, he wins the Manx International!
Bellis is 2nd while Skujins comes through for 3rd ahead of Betancourt and Ben Nasser. Monfort hardly featured in the sprint and is 6th, just ahead of Di Maggio.
McEvoy was able to surge clear for an 8th place finish.
Efforts used up in the chase, Ventoso is beaten by Rabon for 9th.
Zaini and Vastaranta come next, ahead of the rest of the large group behind - which is led by Anderson, Zeits and Wegmann.
Disappointing team leader performances from Roy (16th), Mehr-Wenige (18th) and Dowsett (22nd) - as well as all those left behind when the group split. Many of those did follow Barrio's lead in attacking, but none every caught up again.
