Praha - Karlovy Vary - Praha - Stage 1
Aquarius97
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-000.jpg

A short prologue of 5 kms in the streets of Praga is the first stage of this TT focused stage race. As always, Phinney is the favourite for the win, but with such a short route, a lot of riders could surprise the reigning winner of this race

The riders will face heavy winds in today’s stage, and if there are changes in the wind speed, we could have surprises, given that it’s tail wind in all the course. We were told by RBC DS that Phinney did a time of 6’08 this morning when there was no wind, so we’ll see how the wind affects times today
´
And pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_yor.png Viennet’s time is already faster than 6’08, as the Frenchman has done a 6’05

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-001.jpg

There has been a 10 km/h increase in the wind speed when pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_pum.png Van Baarle was on course, and he went on beating Viennet’s time by 2 seconds. Clearly the more wind the faster the riders will go

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-002.jpg

We have a new leader with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_mos.png Prado, as the Mexican goes one second faster than Van Baarle

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-003.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_akm.png Vangstad does a time of 6 minutes, taking the first place. The wind is clearly helping these riders

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-004.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_yor.png Tennant does the same time as Vangstad, but it’s given the provisional lead thanks to tenths

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-005.jpg

5’58 for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_des.png Verona who is the new leader!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-006.jpg

Great time for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bgc.png Van Winden, who is 6 seconds faster than Verona

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-007.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bnm.png Oram goes third fastest, 8 seconds worse than Van Winden

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-008.jpg

Second place for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_hug.png Ligthart, 5 seconds behind the best time

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-009.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ssc.png Postlberger goes fourth fastest, 8 seconds behind Van Winden

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-010.jpg

Disappointing time for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_tti.png Yatsevich, who can only be fourth so far

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-011.jpg

Boom! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_evo.png Yannick Stoltz with a massive performance takes the hot seat, beating Van Winden by 6 seconds and putting a time of 5’46!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-012.jpg

Third place for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_fes.png Vlatos, whose time is the same as Van Winden, so 6 seconds worse than Stoltz. The wind has been stable for a while, around 50 km/h

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-013.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_yor.png Stannard is 7 seconds slower than Stoltz, so that’s fourth place for the British rider

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-014.jpg

Only sixth best time for Paris-Nice stage winner pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_prp.png Leung, 11 seconds behind Stoltz. The wind has slowed down a bit, probably not enough to influence the times

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-015.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_akm.png Paillot goes second fastest! Just 4 seconds behind Stoltz!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-016.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bnm.png Hepburn is within 10 seconds of the best time, setting the 6th best time

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-017.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_hug.png Gonzalez Salas beats Hepburn by one second for that sixth place. And the wind is back to pre-stage conditions, when Viennet did his time

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-018.jpg

Another rider that does the same time as sixth placed rider, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_vlv.png Haugard, with a time 8 seconds behind Stoltz

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-019.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_eav.png Kittel can only do a time 9 seconds slower than Stoltz. The less wind present now is making the riders that start now to do worse times clearly

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-020.jpg

Not a good day for one of the stage favourites, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bnm.png Dennis, as he’s not even in provisional Top20, 12 seconds behind Stoltz

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-021.jpg

The wind is back at full force, and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_rbc.png Cataford does a Top10 time

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-022.jpg

Chtioui goes eighth fastest! Same time as Haugard and Gonzalez Salas though

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-023.jpg

And pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bnm.png Dempster is beaten by Chtioui by miliseconds to take a Top10 place!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-024.jpg

Aramendia goes into the top10 too, with same times as the previous 3-4 riders

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-025.jpg

Finally someone not doing the exact same time! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ssc.png Brändle sets the fifth best time, 7 seconds slower than Stoltz

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-026.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_tti.png Malori puts the second time, just 2 seconds worse than Stoltz!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-027.jpg

And after some time without any big riders starting, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ebd.png Howson does a terrible time, 16 seconds worse than Stoltz! Then we notice that the wind speed has decreased a lot, which almost guarantees Stoltz’s win today

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-028.jpg

13 seconds is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_pum.png Sütterlin’s lose today

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-029.jpg

Only fourth best time for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_tmo.png Fiedler, 5 seconds behind Stoltz, but his performance was great, he just lost because of the wind, which is 20 km/h slower than when Stoltz did his time

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-030.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_rbc.png Phinney barely breaks into the Top20 of the stage, being 10 seconds worse than Stoltz

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/PT/Praha/Praha-1-031.jpg

So pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_evo.png Yannick Stoltz wins the prologue of this race and will be the first leader!
