| Welcome to the home of the 2016 Azteca - NBCSN man-game team. The unique combination of our two television sponsors with a shared goal to improve the visibility and quality of cycling in the western hemisphere. |
One of the primary goals of the team is to maintain a competitive team of riders hailing only from the Americas, and racing as much as possible on home soil. A diverse spectrum of sponsors from both continents ensures that talent from all over is welcome and wanted.
Our third season in the man-game adds more challenges for the team. Our first two years were plenty successful as we were able to promote in our first season and our second established the team as one that should be comfortably in the PCT. This season will be about building on those successes and pushing ourselves into position to fight for the chance at riding in the PT. | |

Good luck! It will be interesting whether or not Summerhill can repeat his outstanding 2015, but most importantly what you can do with the rest of the team! You'll surely need some new leaders to aim for the WT

Well the goal this offseason is certainly to find another way to score points. I'd like to find either a leading climber or puncheur to add to the squad that can compete for victories as well as finding someone to give Danny a little bit of support on the cobbles.

Okay with the new season, we are getting a new look. Gone with the old splashed paint looking kits and in with a new clean look for the season. Thanks to bwiggins!

Less than half of our riders return as the team was harsh in the process of resigning the riders from last season. To no surprise Danny Summerhill was resigned, and at a slightly cheaper price which the management will be proud to accomplish. Every other rider slides in under the 100k mark with our first season star Tyler Farrar being the only difficulty in demanding his 95K salary.
Here is a look at what we are keeping.

The team is already eagerly looking forward to another successful transfer window, after what has to be deemed a success due to getting Summerhill last year. This year should see the team look hard for another team leader for non-cobbled terrain. As true every season only riders from the Americas is eligible to be on the team. So that list isn't going to be very long.
Buying Options
Azteca won't be afraid to spend money and purchase a rider from another team, and probably will look to go this route to find the team leader they need. They also might look to buy some support for Summerhill on the cobbles. While specific names are still unknown, they seem to be favoring a Canadian on the newly promoted RBC team, though there are no indications that RBC would be willing to sell. Another options might be a Venezuelan on the currently overbudget Wiesenhof team or a run at a Colombian rider loaned to Azteca last season that we saw develop.
Selling Options
I think everyone knows that Danny Summerhill will not be sold under any circumstance. It also seems management favors Xavier Quevedo who is still developing but part of the long term plans for the team. Also with no great GC options, leading man Jonathan Salinas likely won't be available unless a future can be found first. There is little word on the status of the rest of the riders, though it doesn't seem the team going to be under pressure to sell any rider.

With the newly slashed roster the team will be looking to bolster the squad with loanees, like before the team can only accept riders from the Americas, but would be happy to work with teams to help riders reach their potential.
There are rumors that Xavier Quevedo might be a potential rider to get loaned out to the PT for some experience along with César Vaquera but nothing definite has been decided.

I think it will come to no surprise for anyone to learn that our goals this season are based around our star, Danny Summerhill. Beyond just getting results from Summerhill though we are looking to find a spot into the top ten of the PCT which will require points from another source that is likely not yet on the team.
Our biggest priority is winning HC Tour of the Battenkill. A cobbled race on home soil is clearly something we need to take and Danny will be looking to repeat as the winner.
Behind that we have another race we expect to win, again looking for a repeat from Summerhill, and that is the C1 Grozny Classic. Danny won this race last year in a sprint against Vanspeybrouck, who is unlikely to return as BPost promoted this last season.
Beyond that is a pair of top five goals, though we would like better, on HC cobbled races. Danny finished 2nd last year in 5 Jours de Dunkerque and should be able to find his way onto the podium again in the only tour that has a significant presence of cobbles. Also we want to see him perform in the prestigious E3 Prijs where he came in 3rd last year.

It was an interesting transfer window for Azteca, one which I think we call a very huge success even though we failed in our initial targets. There will be no ready-to-go team leader this year coming in, however the team was able to find hope for the future adding almost-ready Johan Esteban Chaves and Eduard Alexander Beltran. Youth was prevalent all thought the window for the team as they also signed Gavin Mannion, Robbie Squire, Dayer Quintana, Chequan Richardson, and Hersony Canelon. All of which have room to grow for the future of the team.
There were some sellings, which are likely to frustrate fans as squad favorite Tyler Farrar was traded for Edwin Parra Bustamante and €150.000. Jonathan Salinas who has never been in a race for the team was also sold to the amount of €375.000 and David Veilleux went for €75.000. The team is confident that all of these moves are beneficial to the long term plans. The team spent no money buying riders.
There will be four riders out on loan this year, Xavier Quevedo will be riding for Movistar - US Postal. Robbie Squire is at Metinvest - Dacia, the same team we loaned Salinas out to last season. Dayer Quintana ironically goes to Orange - KLM after we had his brother on loan from them last season. Lastly Gavin Mannion will ride for Bouygues Telecom this season.
List of Signings

The cobble machine gets better, if that was possible! Interesting you went from 82-83, I might have been tempted to up the stamina to 78 instead: but that's just me! Curious to know what wildcards, if any, you will go for. |

Really hope we can make something happen due to the lousy team support but 83 cbs is practically unbeatable.
