Tour de Beauce - stage 2
Smowz
i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a0-parcours_zps7383ee70.jpg

Not exactly pan flat but certainly expected to be a sprinters stage and possibly the simplest of the three expected field sprints in the race with long loop before a fairly straight forward street circuit near the end.

To remind you the favoured sprinters today are i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Matthews, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ttt.png Vingerling and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Vanderaerden though there are a whole host of others who could challenge for at the very least a podium place given that they are following the right wheel.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Schachmann meanwhile is showing more keenness for early sprints as once again he is out there from the gun and unlike yesterday wins the opening sprint.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a1_zps10bac1bc.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tcu.png Howes is second and young Brazilian i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bon.png Gaspar is third.

These three plus ayoung Basque i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/eub.png Orbe make our days breakaway.

The quartet are controlled nicely through the day by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/scl.png Siam Cement - Lenovo.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a2_zpsde7a6b7e.jpg

Schachmann wins the other sprint too, these bomnifications means that he will have a really good chance of a high GC today provided if caught as expected he holds onto the pack.

The two King of the Mountains are 3rd category and no-one from the break wins both with Howes - Schachmann - Gaspar being the order over the first and Gaspar - Schachmann - Howes being the order over the second the three shut out poor Orbe.

But most of the concentration is really to try and avoid the inevitable of being caught and they are pushing the pack hard coming into the final third. So much so that some of the lardy sprinters are being dropped.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Haddou being one of the first.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a3_zpsc1e1203b.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Wounded Warrior Racing only send Safarzadeh back to ride with Haddou whilst i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tcu.png Bandiera is also dropped and the whole Minion team (bar breakaway man Howes) drop back to their sprinter.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ttt.png Team TomTom and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Azteca - NBCSN are producing the scorching pace over the slightly lumpy terrain.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a4_zps190d7ccd.jpg

The breakaway are caught with about 10km to go and Azteca show their plan to keep making this hard with Magallanes attacking off the front with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Malle on his wheel with 7.5km to go.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a5_zpsf2042819.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Risa - Ergon
prove equal to this but promptly collapse after leading until 5km to go as Azteca show their true intention with a very fast and dominating sprint train of Parisien - Duque - Haedo pulling at the front.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a6_zpsbf2eccd5.jpg

Young American sprinter i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Fisher shows good thinking by following Haedo with now i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Matthews scrambling with his sprint train duo of Hagen and Sutton to get on the wheels.

Meanwhile i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ttt.png
Moreno is seen looking around and chatting on his team radio - where is Vingerling - miles back at the end of the peloton. He will be sprinting for himself. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png Sweeting is the only other real sprinter in the frame at this stage.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a7_zpsd2845757.jpg

Indeed as we come to about 2.5km left Matthews, Sweetling make it to Fishers wheel and this looks set to produce todays winner.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a8_zps563a3872.jpg

Fisher loses Haedo's wheel and then something strange as Duque decides to sprint for himself.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a9_zps4156c002.jpg

They round a left hander with 1.2km out - still a fair distance to travel in a sprint - and Azteca are filling the first three positions with Duque at front over Haedo (inside) and Parisien (outside). Matthews and Sweetling have come around Fisher who has delayed them.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a10_zpsf1a0a806.jpg

Scrolling back we can see Moreno just about to overtake Fisher with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vtb.png Poulhies and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mag.png Bellitti making late bids for high finishing places.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a11_zps09037447.jpg

Surprisingly old man Haedo's legs just give out perhaps morale dropped at the Duque hatchet job, but across from him Vielleux makes a surprising late surge from nowhere. There is four Azteca's in the top six as Matthews and Sweetling struggle to make any impression on Duque.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a12_zps3feddddc.jpg

Vielleux isn't the only one that appears to have been shot out of the pack like a catapult as now i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Bugge comes inside of Haedo.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a13_zpsbb79bf4b.jpg

Duque begins to tie up 200m from line this long straight has hurt him, also Matthews too perhaps using up too much energy too soon. Sweetling is holding okay but it is Veilleux who is coming through Duque and also Bugge on inside.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a14_zpsf1820e96.jpg

Azteca take this sprint in bizarre fashion as Vielleux does indeed sneak past Duque (Bugge also gets past the dastardly sprinter) for the win.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a15_zps5fde58d5.jpg

There should be some interesting discussion in that team bus tonight as Sweetling takes 4th with another late finisher i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Lucus Haedo grabbing 5th.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a16_zps195f6b24.jpg

Matthews ends up 9th and JJ Haedo 14th at least they were involved in the sprint a couple of sprinter managers will be very disappointed in their charges before these two big middle stages to decide the GC.
