Similar to the first stage, it`s pan flat, ideal for the fast men again. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vtb.png Appollonio was one level above the others, so he is the big favourite. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/npn.png Serebriakov, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ayu.png Petit, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ssc.png Haidar Anuawar and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/boi.png Bennett came closest while Castaneda and Forero need to improve clearly.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/cpl.png Pakthusov as one of the 4 Compal 2nd tier puncheurs in this race is todays lone breakaway rider.
Apparently many teams don`t expect any chance here and with no KoM neither, their motivation is low.

This though makes the first intermediate quite interesting as the sprinters go for the points. Basically all top guys fought for it except for (once again) Castaneda. In the end though Appollonio again the fastest ahead of a surprisingly quick Caldeira. Those 4 bonus seconds extend the lead to 8s over Serebriakov now.

Surprisingly Pakthusov was having enough of his solo ride as he waited for the peloton afterwards. Hence the next sprint had the big points to offer.
Again all but Castaneda, who might save his energy for the final, went for it. Serebriakov ahead of Appollonio this time with Forero in 3rd.

A bit more than 20km left and no new attack. Though the pace just went higher as Vontobel and Ayubowan want to create some echelons. Again Pinot and Cataldo need to work for their sprinters.
About 30 riders struggle at teh end including former GC winner Maillet, actually one of Vontobel`s! Also all of yesterdays break are dropped and will lose their good GC spot at the moment.

Quite a relaxed sprint preperation today with no group ahead. Ayubowan once more with a very strong train for Petit. Serebriakov on the left and Vontobel on the right, though Forero seems to disturb their work quite a lot.

Vontobel having problems now. Kohler and Gatto probably could go faster but Forero is not leaving their wheel, which means blocking Appollonio quite a bit in his attempt to reach his very own.
So it looks like a fight between the two other trains, where Silva is doing a great job.

Gallopin and Pozdnyakov now in the wind under the Flamme Rouge. Both with a bit of a gap to their leaders.

This is impossible. Even for Appollonio. He still sits right behind Forero not able to leave his wheel. Quite a fail for Vontobel after yesterdays great win.

Petit moves over behind the Novatek leadout seeing the left area more open. Serebriakov once more struggles to follow a close to perfect leadout and also gets passed by Bennett and Sutton with Caldeira proving his intermediate sprint form a bit behind this group.

Could Pozdnyakov even make it? The finish line is just meters away and both Bennett and Petit attack him on each side.

On the last meters Bennett goes into the lead and takes yet another Tachira stage win! Great sprint by Mr. Consistent!
In 2nd Petit, who is also showing a good race so far.

Sutton in 3rd with a strong finish even ahead of a hugely struggling Pozdnyakov in the end. Serebriakov with a disappointing 5th seeing his perfect position.

Caldeira, Cardoso, Speirs, Kohler, Gatto make a somehow surprising 2nd half of the top10. Forero of course ahead of Appollonio also in the finish while Keough and Castaneda also can`t be happy with their top15 only.

Though with neither Serebrekiakov getting bonus seconds, Appollonio stays in the lead thanks to his sprints on todays stage.
