As the peloton approaches the break starts breaking up as Cancellara makes a move followed only by Dall'Antonio.
However the Italian haven't got enough left in the tank and the Brazilian gets away on his own for the last 15 km.
At the same time we have the first action from the peloton as Sanchez Gil makes an early move.
Strava and Banc na hÉireann are having none of it and the peloton starts getting pulled out far with the risk of cracks.
Cancellara goes into the final 10 km with 46 seconds to Sanchez Gil and a further 40 seconds on the peloton.
Seeing the danger pretty much every single team leader decides to attack from the peloton resulting in nothing but an increased speed.

To no great surprise Cancellara can't keep up with Sanchez Gil, who goes into the final 3,5 km with the peloton 41 seconds behind.
At this moment it's Gilbert trying to push it in the chase.
The favourites just keeps on neutralizing each other in the peloton while the win seems to be slipping away from them.
With less than 1,5 km to go it looks like Sanchez Gil will need to crash to lose this one!

At this moment it's Gilbert and Froome seems to be the ones to battle for the final podium spot with 1 km to go.
Luis Leon Sanchez Gil takes a splendid win with a perfectly timed attack.
Froome saved his energy for the sprint and has no bigger problem going past Gilbert for 3rd.
