A third consecutive sprint finish looks likely, however, looking at the terrain of the remaining four stages it may well be the last sprint we have here.

The three man break were allowed to get away right from the off.

The break: Grand, Adamou & Lilholt.

Yes, Evonik - Signal Iduna's loaned in rider, Grand, made the break for the second time in this tour and is certainly turning a lot of heads. He started the stage just '18 off the race lead and tied 1st in the race for the polka dots.


Grand summits the three climbs of the day first, mostly uncontested.

Grand would move into the lead in the KOM comp with a tally of 46 points, exactly what Evonik would want from this tour.

Grand did have an outside chance of moving up onto the GC podium with bonifications today, however, he finished third at all three intermediate sprint points which meant that hope soon died away as the sprinter teams were never letting a break get away today.



Team Ameriabank-Novatek set the pace on the front, they would hope Hochmann could deliver his second win today.


32 KM to go: the peloton loses many out the break with the break @ 1'00.

With the sprinter teams pushing on, into the crosswinds, many riders are dropped in the typical Bretagne conditions. The biggest names dropped at this point: Schinker, Tereul, Boivin and 2013 race winner, Olsson.


Into the last 20 KM.

Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team are on the front as the last of the break, Adamou & Lilholt, are caught. The peloton is now down to 74 riders, more big names are out the back. Outside GC hopes Firsanov & Sarabia have now been dropped.


The sprint is upon us.

We still have around 500 meters to go when Vanderaerden launches his final effort, the first sprinter to do so. Ariesen wasn't able to give him as a good of a lead-out as on stage 2. Quality names are just behind and eyeing a stage victory, with the hard Bretagne conditions it is not just the pure sprinters that are looking to win today:

Wyss comes surging through!

Vanderaerden, as expected, couldn't keep up his effort and with around 250 meters to go Wyss, surprises the sprinters, and leads the race on the flat run-in. However, stage 2 winner, Vingerling (green jersey) isn't phased and comes level with Wyss.


Wyss can't keep it up.

Wyss, went too early. Vingerling passes him to take the race lead, but he is passed by a flying Farrar. Bole, for the first time here, is coming up quickly in the sprint but he can't match the pure speed of the American.


Stage win Farrar!

Azteca - NBCSN win stage 3 thanks to an emphatic win, the most emphatic sprint win here, by Farrar. He won by over three bike lengths to Bole. Vingerling holds on for the third place. Way back Fonseca wins the battle for fourth with his Team Vontobel teammate, Wyss, showing very well to finish 5th.

With Hochmann finishing down in 12th today, Farrar moves into the race lead as we hit the hills on stage 4.
