For those teams who brought a sprinter to this race, this one has to end in a sprint as it is the flattest stage here.



Intermediate sprint result with 116 KM to go:

The break are still to establish as we reach the first intermediate sprint point. Farrar, comfortably, finished 1st which may be crucial for the points jersey down the line.



A break did establish a little while afterwards, all four riders were 1'24 down in the GC. The break:

Wounded Warrior Racing would have another good day in the break today as Devine would finish 1st at the remaining two intermediate sprint points.



ONCE-Eroski Cycling Team, Eddie Stobart Pro Cycling, Azteca - NBCSN and Project: Africa were the teams controlling the break today.



Ochoa is dropped from the break and, with 11 KM to go, the three survivors still have 1'20 of a gap over the bunch.


A good effort!

It was a grand effort by the break but they would be caught with around 5 KM to go.



Azteca - NBCSN come storming through. We will have a sprint today.

Rangel sneaks across to the tail end of that Azteca train with some 500 meters to go as some other sprinters muster towards the front.



Magallanes puts in a terrific lead-out to deliver Farrar to the optimum position with 200 meters left.



Haedo and Brus launch their final efforts in what is set to be a really close finish. Farrar looks to have started his sprint a bit late, Rangel is in the mix up but doesn't look half as effective as he was on stage 1.



With under 10 meters to go Brus marginally leads ......



But Farrar takes the win at the line, Brus finishes second ahead of Haedo who rounds out the podium.

Fisher takes fourth ahead of Rangel who will be disappointed he couldn't take a win in his team's home country, as that looks to be the last sprint stage we have here.

The GC leader stays the same and it will be interesting to see if Farrar's 45 points will see him keep the points jersey till the end.
