The third and concluding stage is obviously the key for the GC here: the tough finish up the Col de l'Ospedale will surely see only the best climbers fighting for yellow.

Van den Broeck as best-placed of those aiming for the victory, while of course guys like Machado, Contador, Intxausti, Brajkovic, Abal and Keizer should fancy their chances as well.

A breakaway is quickly built and it's a more than interesting 16-men-goup establishing a comfortable gap early into the stage. Some premium climbers with a surprising move here:

Nazaret and Olivier clearly as two very strong co-leader for their teams, probably with the main goal to put a "relay station" for Abal/Keizer later on.. LÃ¶vkvist as another interesting name, also the best-placed in the GC here (+ 0.37). What a break of the day this is!

The sprints for the KoM-competition would be heavily contested and would become a tight decision of who's (most likely) winning the mountain-price here:

The group (though yet going into pieces) is still in the lead as we now jump straight into the summit finish: 15km remaining and we see the next serious attacks out of the bunch, that is down by a minute on the breakaway group(s):

Sella definitely as the most dangerous rider on the move and he clearly needs to put some pressure on the big guns!

Rujano as the most notable names in a next 12-men-group, now already 45" behind group Contador/Machado/Brajkovic!

Intxausti pulling it at the front of the group, but this will be one tough challenge with soon only 5km to go!

Brajkovic as the one pacing at the very front of the race now, as Nazaret has been caught (to now drop back helping a struggling Abal)!

The new leading group looks like it could go into pieces soon, with Brajkovic, Marquez, Contador, Machado and Van den Broeck looking better than Sella and Keizer now..

Brajkovic definitely with a very good day, as he not only pulled the group towards the finish, but also attacks the group with now 1.7km to go!

Contador, Machado, VDB and a come-backing Keizer on the further positions, though not looking like they can counter this strong move!

Impressive attack from Brajkovic, who opens up a 40"-gap quickly!

Contador, Marquez and Machado now leading the 8-men-group.. it may come down to bonifications for those places behind Brajkovic..

Intxausti/Rujano going clear from the next bigger group, but still about a minute down on this group Contador/Machado!

Brajkovic won't mind all those gaps behind him, as he takes the stage and most likely also the GC that way! He paced up this climb pretty good and launched his winning move in style. Perfection.

Quite a bummer for Intxausti and Rujano. It's not yet Intxausti's season, it seems.. Cano with a nice effort, with his captain Talansky failing hard today.

A few more groups crossing the line then, with the early escapees mixing it up with guys like Majka, Kononenko, Aru, Ablenado or Panayotov..

Ardila Cano. A nice overall result for Buff, while Intxausti/Rujano won't be happy with today's perfromance. Especially Intxausti, who somehow needed to bounce back from his disastrous Catalunya-result.

A horrible race for the likes of Nerz (33rd), Talansky (34th) or Eastman (36th)...

Saldarriaga with a strong day to take the KoM-price ahead of Pardilla and Brajkovic. With so many strong climbers in the break of the day, this is surely an achievement.
