Strade Bianche
Time for the race of the white roads.
The race have been around since 2009 with no rider winning more than once, but plenty of big names in its history books:
| Winner | 2nd | 3rd | 2009 | Lhotellerie | Eisel | Pozzato | 2010 | Burghardt | Boonen | Ballan | 2011 | Nuyens | Ballan | Cancellara | 2012 | Costa | Appleby | Vansummeren | 2013 | Bellis | Hermans | Elijzen | 2014 | Van Stayen | Ben Nasser | Ulissi | 2015 | Kelderman | McCarthy | Ben Nasser |
Bellis will be looking to be the first to win this twice while McCarthy, Ben Nasser and Ulissi will be looking to improve on previous podiums.
While the gravel roads are unique and beautiful they play much part as to divide the best from the second-best.
Usually the finish is decided between a very select group of riders so to win this you'll need to be strong, aware and with a good kick for the final sprint.
Thus we have a wide range of possible winners:
The Punchers: | Hill | Acc | Sta | Res | Froome | 82 | 75 | 77 | 73 | Di Maggio | 82 | 75 | 73 | 68 | McCarthy | 81 | 74 | 80 | 75 | Flügel | 81 | 74 | 79 | 67 | Ulissi | 80 | 75 | 83 | 71 | Ben Nasser | 79 | 77 | 76 | 70 | Bystrom | 79 | 76 | 75 | 72 | Betancourt | 79 | 74 | 72 | 71 | Schumacher | 79 | 69 | 75 | 70 | Barrio | 79 | 67 | 69 | 63 |
The Sprinters:
| Spr | Acc | Hill | Matthews | 79 | 79 | 64 | Gatto | 78 | 72 | 74 | Mansilla | 77 | 78 | 71 | Grillo | 77 | 76 | 66 | Matysiak | 76 | 74 | 73 | Cardoso | 76 | 75 | 71 | Dall'Antonia | 76 | 76 | 70 | Arashiro | 76 | 77 | 68 | Carsi | 76 | 78 | 54 |
And the Brave Attackers, who are too unpredictable to list but counts the likes of Kadri, Sanchez Gil, Gallopin, Bystrom, Bellis, Lavery and many more.

This is one of our win goals, and while it seems unlikely I think Bellis has a chance - he has after all won this race in the past. Froome is quite a bit stronger on the hills, but Bellis could live with him in San Luis quite comfortably so I have some hope. Ulissi is probably favourite for me, but Bellis will hopefully be in the top 5, and Gallopin could surprise. |

Reallly wish I'd have chosen different bands so I could have been here. Would been a great race for Kump and CO.
Nice to see quite a few top puncheurs here atleast, will make it easier at Gisborne.

Gisborne will be Anuar Aziz, Kinoshita, Roche and Gautier I'm guessing of the 80HIL and above riders. |

All I hope for Schumacher is that he makes the top 10. He has been uninterested in trying to stay with the lead group in every race this season, hopefully it will change here.

Vai Diego!!! One of his best chances in the classics this year, and it's great to see Kinoshita isn't here - doesn't come as a surprise, I'm reporting that one
Thanks for covering this Atlantius!

Froome has never had a podium result here, time to change this Froome has decent backups for such a race, which probably will be very selective and the key is to get in the right group/attack and then take the big hunt for victory. This race is like tailor made for Ulissi, so he should be the big favorite here, McCarthy scary too!
It was the famous, which rider do I send here between Gisborne and Strade. First Strade is a HC race, so of course the best puncher should be here in Strade. Mostly I did it because of the chance of having a MO/Hill Ratio, so I think I've made the right decision here! Thanks for reporting this one, I think you'll do a long and intereting race

Sent a full squad of puncheurs to this one, well what are puncheurs for my team at least. Find it a little interesting that Chaves is the leader over Beltran for us, but still hopeful we can be competitive in this race, somewhere in the top 50 would be fine based on how we are riding otherwise.

If Hatanaka does anything crazy we will be over the moon. Top 20 is probably a realistically achievable result, so hopefully he can do that.

We're going for a wildcard-action here. Nothing to win or to lose here, so let's just do our best and see what happens! |

Last year Di Maggio arrived in great shape, but a tough race left him isolated from his teammates way too early. To prevent repetition Edoardo Zardini won't leave his side. Top5 is what we are aiming for.

Some slight hope for us that the quickest sprinters here might contest the finish. That would be great!
But I am fully expecting a nightmehr! |

We've got LLS here but I don't really have any expectations. Going to pick Ullisi for the win here.
Thanks for the preview!

With Kadri leading here I don't think it's realistic expecting more than a top-20. An appearance in the break would also be nice

Who complained about sending Lulu to the wrong race? Great victory!
