Day two would be much quieter for the team, and Brea would struggle to find a good wheel for the finish, but does improve on his 17th from the day before with a 13th today. Another improvement like that will see a top 10 potentially.

Our worst day yet in the race as Brea struggles to catch onto the right wheels and ends up 19th on the stage. We are struggling to make our mark in the breakaways having nothing since day one, hopefully we are well rested at least going into the uphill parts of the race.

Stage 4 finally gets some action from the team, though not in the breakaway, but the chase as Azteca proves to be the strongest team in the end, committing numbers to try and bring back the loan breakaway rider. We wouldn't get him entirely back to the field, but kept his lead to a very manageable minute and change with the mountains still looming. Quintana finished 4th for our best result of the race, and looks ready to challenge for the GC.

We would again see the breakaway with Xavier Quevedo working in the breakaway and just nearly finishing ahead of the field and finishing with a very quality 6th place. We will need more of this throughout the season, so being so active this early is a good sign.

Another day in the breakaway and another good day as Juan Villegas gets our best result yet of the season finishing on the podium in 3rd. Quintana continues to finish with the main group, but the major threats of Rujano and Sella were both ahead of that group today.

What a great day for Azteca, as Juan Murillo claims our victory of the season. The attack from the breakaway holds off as he is able to drop all the other riders, and then maintains his advantage over the oncoming GC riders. Quintana also finishes nicely in 7th and we find ourselves with Murillo at 6th in the GC, and Quintana in 12th (though with the same time as 9th).

Stage 8 would see us again active in the break with Juan Villegas, and he would close down the gap for KoM points putting himself into 3rd in that competition giving us either Murillo or Villegas able to win the competition in tomorrows stage if they can make the breakaway. The main favorites though took control for the stage win as Quintana really struggled finding himself finishing with the 4th group on the road.

The first chance for our new leader Danny Summerhill to prove his worth on his perferred terrain is the ProTour stage race Omloop Het Volk. A new combination of of the early classes Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne and a particualarly nasty closing Team Time Trial. We won't come in as the overall favorites, mostly due to the last TTT, but Summerhill will certainly be considered a threat to the other two stages. Perhaps more importantly for the team though will be the performance of the help, primarily Tyler Farrar who goes from being the team captain last year and sprinter, to the primary support for Summerhill in these flat cobbled races. We are cautiously optimistic for this one as one of the few races all of the top cobblers, PT and PCT will be here.
Azteca - NBCSN Lineup | | | 71 | | Danny Summerhill | 72 | | Marc Codrington | 73 | | Samuel Coronel | 74 | | Dadley Corwin | 75 | | Leonardo Duque | 76 | | Tyler Farrar | 77 | | Luis Pulido | 78 | | César Vaquera |

The toughest stage of the race would prove to be a pretty decent stage for us, as we were active especially late and Quintana would see to a very good result, though again would prove he isn't quite up to the same caliber as the favored riders and he has room yet to grow.
Quintana is now 8th in the GC at +7'35" and tied with Aru for 7th. And only 57" behind Oliver for best young rider (with Aru still considered tied ahead of him as well).

Well I don't think we could be any more excited about this stage! Summerhill shows his class in the win, while Farrar did a terrific job of keephing him sheltered throughout the stage. We will now have to see how we do with the leader's jersey on our back tomorrow and if we can hold it in the TTT. On a negative note, we did lose César Vaquera on the stage, which will hurt our depth going forward.

The next stage race on our calendar and again our role will primarily be set to stage hunting. We will come with no primary team leader, and such designation might come from whoever can find themselves higher on the GC going into the tougher stages. We look foward to continuing our attacking style of riding and hope for more success.

Azteca would again successfully find the break with Jimmi Briceno joining the rather large break of the day. Briceno would be strong all race, and give a huge effort at the finish but find himself just off the podium in 4th.
Quintana finishes as our top man in the GC, 9th overall which is fairly on par with what we expected. The team would find 4th and 5th positions in the KoM, and 3rd in best young rider, and a very good 2nd in overall team standings.
Stage:
4 | | Jimmi Briceno | 2h48'38 | 29 | | Nairo Quintana | + 3'29 | 31 | | Xavier Quevedo | s.t | 32 | | Juan Murillo | s.t | 37 | | Juan Villegas | s.t | 53 | | Jackson RodrÃguez | s.t | 88 | | César Vaquera | + 12'34 | 100 | | Anthony José Brea | s.t |
Final GC:
9 | | Nairo Quintana | + 9'20 | 23 | | Juan Murillo | + 11'46 | 24 | | Jimmi Briceno | + 12'03 | 36 | | Jackson RodrÃguez | + 17'15 | 40 | | Juan Villegas | + 18'13 | 71 | | Xavier Quevedo | + 53'17 | 94 | | Anthony José Brea | + 1h21'38 | 96 | | César Vaquera | + 1h24'31 |

Azteca would have to defend the leader's jersey in their first ProTour race after Danny Summerhill's great performance on stage one. The team would have little interest in doing too much, and allowing a breakaway to go free would take away potential bonus seconds from BPost's Vanspeybrouck. They would do exactly that while we quietly kept the yellow jersey and look towards the TTT.

The team time-trial would be our unfortunate undoing, as may predicted. With little support there wasn't much Summerhill could do as the team struggled finishing 15th over a minute behind BPost (2nd). Summerhill does claim second, but behind rival Pieter Vanspeybrouck, and we hope this is the only time it happens this season. Summerhill does get a consolation prize though in the points competition. And we ended up 2nd in the team competition as well.

Stage one would be a very quiet, which means disappointing, stage for us as we were not able to make the breakaway, nor was Brea able to come off with a very good sprint. Out of consolation at least we didn't lose any time.

Stage 2 would see us in better form as Victor Hugo Tarqui completes a three man breakaway, and sets himself up with a few KoM points and some bonus seconds from the intermediate sprints. On a bad not, Wilmer Vasquez had a late mechanical and lost several minutes, he potentially could have been our best GC hope, now that will likely rest on Andres Saldarraiaga.

Doubtful, but guessing you won't be forgetting the GC either.

It would be a rough day on the only mountain stage as we would struggle to stay near the front and our best rider would lose over 8 minutes to the leaders. Crushing any hopes of a decent GC standing and pinning everything on breakaways for the rest of the race.

Stage 4 would seem similar to stage three for us, again unable to produce much of anything and finding ourselves finishing well off the pace, and again without a rider in the breakaway to account for anything.
