Barredo holds the jersey after stage 4 and will look to hold it today with help of his teammates. I think by know we know the sprinters looking to challenge it out for the stage honours. Last opportunity for pure sprinters in the race so everyone should be well motivated.
Some familiar names in the break today, Selander who already infiltrated the break twice previously, Quevado who was present in first stage as well as Barbari and Scheit. Nitu and Bogataj are the ''newcomers''.
Bjorn Selander
Xavier Quevedo
Blaz Bogataj
Adel Barbari
Adrian Nitu
Florian Scheit
Pride sight for a new CT team, defending leader's jersey in their first stage race ever. And a welcome sight as we don't see the usual Prio/Euskaltel/Bpost partnership!
7km to go and Prio and BPost leading the pack with break withing grasp, although the lead is reported as 35 seconds, bit more than it looks. Euskaltel seem sheltered so far, untypical of their efforts so far.
Break with 5km banner and still holding 20 odd second lead. BPost now find a gap and are pulling through, Barredo currently on Keukeleire wheel with Avelino bit behind. The big news for now is there are 4 Euskaltel riders but none of them are Bouhanni! All other sprinters positioned just behind Bpost train so far.
This is getting interesting, 2.5km left and Bogataj is on attack. Selander
and Quevedo on his wheel with other three break members can't follow those attacks.
Peleton is 20 seconds behind and coming fast but this could be close.
De Vreese now sees the break and is chasing hard finally leading Keukeleire well ahead of his rivals! Situation behind looks like:
De Vreese Keukeleire Ventoso Avila Zingle Reza Krieger Avelino Anton Martin Nieves Rujano
There's bit of space after that with many GC contenders but likes of Kip, Drapac, Bouhanni already ruled out of contention today being way behind today.
Bogataj continues his attacking and passes flamme rouge still in the lead. Selander keeping up with Slovenian but Quevedo looks done.
Avelino leading charge now but Keukeleire hasn't left his leadout yet waiting quite long.
500 metres left and Bogotaj can see the finish line! But so can Avelino and Keukeleire.
Out of nowhere (literally) Guillén like a fuel jet rocket comes from the left and is looking mightily fast. He was absent all week so far but looks like his teammate doing well spured him on as well.
Keukeleire is finally getting into highest gear and is now passing Avelino. Quevedo is caught but Selander and Bogotaj are still in front with just few hundred meters separating Slovenian from a win.
Bogotaj is raising his arms in celebration, he has the win! What a day for him. Guillén now passed Keukeleire and Avelino and is very fast closing on Selander, can ONCE do a 1-2 here?
Guillen does it, 1-2 for ONCE. I am not sure anyone expected this but what a stage for them out of nowhere really!
Selander holds good 3rd for CT Chiquita just holding off Keukeleire in 4th and Avelino 5th.
Quevedo held on for good 6th. Reza on 7th , seemignly Bouhanni wasn't feeling well today so 7th is a decent outcome for the team. Marquez, Avila and Ventoso complete the Top 10 today.
