All I can say is I just admire this team. In only your second PCT season you've built an extremely strong team that I think will stand at the top step of the PCT standings. Always nice racing against and watching the Quickstep boys

Great win from Marquez, it seems that his attacking spirit and enormous acceleration are making wonders for Quickstep. Congrats, you are going straight near the top, where everyone would expect you.
Thanks Avin, it may well be Having exactly the same start to last season where he dominated Tachira instead, hopefully a good sign! Can't deny it is a perfect start so far, hopefully we can stay here and not too have to catch up to any teams Metinvest with a solid start, Rabon is an excellent signing so far. And well Ignatiev will dominate the division for sure.

Thanks a lot, much appreciated Indeed, many teams spend seasons in PCT trying to get into PT. Seems our strategy paid off from last year, we somehow not relegated and that put us in great position to negotiate this year. Top step will be difficult with Venchi and Bacardi very strong too, but we will try for sure I'll see you in Kenya next

Sums up my thoughts! China was rubbish, but Oman just pure amazing. Never expected such race with the profiles that Oman offered. At the end, it balanced out very nicely Hopefully you can get more luck, but with your team, nice results should be coming up right and left

With cobbled races few in between and one of the strongest teams present we had expected nothing less than a podium. Finishing outside the Top 10 is not acceptable. Pressure will be put on the team to deliver in Dwars Door Vlaanderen otherwise action will be taken!
The team manager's reaction: '' Having Jerome attacking with 60km to go was preposterous. No race radios can't be used as an excuse for bad tactics. We had two potential winners in Geert and Jerome and ended without even a Top 10 place. I have no words at the moment. Congratulations to Hornbach after their hard start to the season.

Jerome Baugnies - The Cancellara of Man-Game
Bahir Dar
Jerome Baugnies begins his first cobbled race with a audacious 70km which leads to absolutely nothing. We are hoping he might learn from this.
Dwars Door Vlaanderen
Dwars turned out to be more complex race than Bahir Dar, but one thing remained unchanged - Baugnies first to attack. And yet again it lead to not much at all. He did well to salvage our race later on with his 2nd placing.
Rheden GP
3rd cobbled classic and if you still don't get the trend present - Jerome is the first to attack again with 25km to go. A small group catches up yo him later on from which he produces a third place - but if he didn't attack and followed them - he should have won the race being the best sprinter there.
I am hopeful he might learn something yet - but I am loosing all hope

Finally had the time to update our results section, here are the updated results:
We are very satisfyingly leading the rankings so far, however we also have most race days used out of the top teams meaning winning the division is quite unlikely, but the official goal of Top 5 looks to be on a good pathway to completion.
1 | 1 | | Quickstep | 2665 | 2 | 2 | | Heineken-Cal Giant | 2541 | 3 | 3 | | Venchi - Ferranti | 2102 | 4 | 5 | | Bacardi Limited | 1977 | 5 | 11 | | Oz Cycling Project | 1893 |
Marquez the rider of the season for us so far. He has ridden 4 HC races so far. One he dominated with 2 stage wins and overall, he then came 5th in Kenya completing our goal and finally came twice 6th in Vancouver and Corsica. He has still few races left to beat his last year's point total.
Froome has been very solid and if not Mallorca crash would be our top scorer, he's been inconsistent in the classics, but he finally took our first classic few days ago.
Baugnies has been the biggest disappointment, as can be seen by results page. He still scored decently, but nowhere enough, and with most his races completed, he'll have to be dropping his wages next season for sure.
Luckily in the biggest race of season where Baugnies dissapointed De Maar took away 2nd, almost completing the win goal and has been a real star doing quite well in other races.
Ahhh, Maximme. Last season Maximme points total = 1000 points He's been utter dross, however hopefully the decent Taihu performance changes that and with Eneco the next race, he could score big there, however unlikely that sounds. Anyhow, he'll be cheaper next season, that's a positive.
And the second positive, even with one of the biggest signings of the transfer season under performing so far, we are still on top of rankings.
7 | Marquez | Florentino | ESP | Quickstep | 532 | 12 | Froome | Chris | GBR | Quickstep | 438 | 19 | Baugnies | Jérôme | BEL | Quickstep | 370 | 26 | De Maar | Marc | CUR | Quickstep | 307 | 66 | Vantomme | Maxime | BEL | Quickstep | 176 |
I'll try to keep the HQ updated more from now on!

Marc De Maar has been a real force I didn't realize just how many podiums he has had though it really has been a great season by him so far, Obviously the standings goal is looking very good and I can't wait to see what plans you have for the WT. |

Indeed, this PCM benefited him well with finally working acceleration which means he's one of fastest on the more selective stages. Plus the high flat stat means he's usually well positioned in the peleton bringing decent results.
And that reminds me I forgot to put Czech Republic result in the results and surprise surprise..De Maar got another 3rd place there
And I am looking forward to my WT plans too for which at the moment I have none Although Baugnies, Vantomme and Marquez could be all leaving the team so definitely major overhauls. But to be fair they could all possibly stay too, but that is more unlikely scenario I think.
P.S. Plus there's Benoot to consider <3

Interest in Baugnies would be high... *glances at Thomas* *glances at rankings* Perhaps not from us...
This season pretty much going to plan for you, just doing really really well pretty much all the time. Only question is now whether you'll win the division, i think not but it will be fairly close.

This team is just super-cool. I love how it features on all terrains, from cobbles (if Baugnies feels like it), to sprints (likewise for Vantomme) and climbing terrain. And Marc de Maar, well, he's sort of a Curacaon superhero.
Spoiler Btw, I hope I'll once again bestowed with the honour of designing a jersey for this team next year.

Thanks for the kind words aidanvn Indeed, not sure how we managed it, but we somehow did make a pretty strong all-round team for almost all terrains ( bar TTs ) And De Maar for sure will be celebrated, we hope he is a shoe in for Curacoan Sportman of the Year
Spoiler I think we as a team hope we'll be bestowed with the honour you can design our jersey yet again

Tour des Pays de Savoie
Mr Consistent - Marquez continues run of superb results in France
After two months of rest our rider of the season so far, Florentino Marquez is back for three races in June, culminating in a HC race in Andorra, toughest stage race of the season quite likely. We found these three races will be ideal for his preparation for the Tour de France in July.
We didn't expect much from him due to that reason alone, however the first hilly stage didn't suit him much. However as he does entire season Marquez overcame any difficulties finishing on podium few seconds behind Brajkovic. He would then go to take a stage win with a great solo effort and yellow for one day, however Brajkovic was too strong in the next two stages.
Marquez comes out with 4th in GC and a terrific stage win. Great race back and he's ready for his trip to Africa where the Tour of Eritrea is his next target.

Lovely little update there. Marquez with some fine season so far and of course still two good chances this month to follow.. Will be interesting to see how he does at Le Tour. Guess it will come down to stage hunting, which looks promising given his latest aggressive racing.

Thanks, definitely inspired by your style of reviews
Definitely, stage hunting is what we want. With the opening TTT we are guaranteed a time loss from the start which is good for us Level of Tour is so high I hope he does a Gomez Marchante of Giro Baugnies, De Maar and Froome will be stage hunters hopefully on few stages, but mostly support for Vantomme in first week especially. It should be cool race for us, hopefully.
Eneco Tour
Breakthrough for the team - Vantomme wins Eneco Tour!
Vantomme's season has been very poor until he finally found some form in Tour of Taihu, taking a stage win and finishing 4th overall. A great preparation for his biggest race of the season, the Eneco. Comprising of four long flat stages the terrain could not be more perfect for Vantomme. And classed as a HC race, big points were on offer.
Vantomme began with disappointing 7th after good leadout, however Tom Van Asbroeck and Bryan Coquard delivered a master class performance on stage 2 delivering in Vantomme in perfect position, which he took by just few inches ahead of Cavendish.
Perfect leadout leads to...
A tight win by Maxime!
On stage 3 Vantomme and Asbroeck sneaked away vital bonus seconds, plus positioned Vantomme on Holloway's wheel, which was the perfect decision resulting in another dominant win. With the gained advantage he took yellow with big margin. Only Cavendish and Ciolek could take the yellow on the last stage, which they didn't.
A brilliant GC win by Maxime which turns his poor season upside down. And perfect time to do so with Tour less than a month away. He also takes the Points Jersey, while Tom is rewarded with White Jersey, a great bonus for his immense leading out for Maxime. The train is finally taking shape! We come away with more than 80pprd from Eneco, which we are immensely happy about. Now a trip to Africa awaits.
Vantomme dominates on stage 3!

Yea, my mistake, was meant to put Goss and Ciolek there Vantomme and Goss has been doing quite well simultaneously in the past two races. Hopefully they continue like that

Yea it looks that way. Although I wonder how different things would have gone though. We'd still have Boswell and more money, but nothing to dwell on
Arghh, Benoot will do my head in. In my head I've got a plan worked out which should be doable with us staying up in PT next year and pushing for top places season after that, but Benoot can crush them quite easily

Tour of Eritrea
Back-to-back general classifications for Quickstep!
Following our success at Eneco Tour was rather different race, decided by climbers this time. And we penciled this stage race as one of first for Marquez schedule with the queen stage suiting him down to the tee. With a completely different composition of the team bar our loanee Coquard we went to Africa with expectations of fighting for podium, something Marquez achieved last year finishing 2nd overall here.
Stage 1 ended in a sprint. Coquard took a respectable 10th, with Marquez finishing best GC contender on 15th, boding well. Stage 2 was all about Marquez, he attacked with 1.8km to go and he held till the end! Fantastic win and gave great chance of bringing that home, however Kiserlovski was only 8 seconds behind.
Stage 3 was a routine, Quickstep did most work and were happy to let the break take the win. Last stage, and tricky ending on punchy climbs, suited more to Kiserlovski rather than Marquez. We yet again let the break take the bonus seconds not allowing Kiserlovski gain any seconds there, but Marquez did even better beating him and finishing 7th, bringing yellow, points and king of mountains jersey home!
First to attack, first to finish. Marquez proving to be the strongest!
