5 Jours de Dunkerque - Stage 1

The first stage of this year's 5 Jours de Dunkerque is 155,7 kilometers long from Dunkerque to Courrières. We do have some cobbles today, but they probably come too early to shake things up in the peloton. In other words, this should be one for the sprinters. Are anyone capable of beating i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Dan Holloway?

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic02_zpsdb8fb275.jpg

We have three attackers reaching the top of the two categorized, cobbled climbs of the day in this order:

KoM-Sprint 1KoM-Sprint 2
1. (5) i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Luca Sterbini1. (5) i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Luca Sterbini
2. (3) i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/abc.png Kevin Fouquet2. (3) i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Victor Shishelov
3. (1) i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Victor Shishelov3. (1) i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/abc.png Kevin Fouquet

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Sterbini and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Shishelov also establish the break of the day, while i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/abc.png Fouquet decides to wait for the peloton as he has GC ambitions in this race.

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic03_zps0b1f4daa.jpg

The two first intermediate sprint is just separated by 17 kilometers, leaving us with these results:

Intermediate Sprint 1:Intermediate Sprint 2:
1. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Victor Shishelov1. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Luca Sterbini
2. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Luca Sterbini2. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Victor Shishelov
3. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/jag.png Sam Bennett3. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/amx.png Paride Grillo

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic04_zpsd66d3b4b.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bbk.png Simon Clarke is unlucky and crashes early on today's stage. Not the start he wanted to this race, but he is luckily quickly back in the peloton.

The breakaway reach the feeding zone with a 4'14" advantage. The peloton, with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/sbp.png Swedbank, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gzl.png Gazelle and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/b3b.png Boeing in the lead, seems to have things under control.

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic05_zpsc5d4b512.jpg

Some of the sprinter teams move into the front with 30 kilometers to go to help chase down the breakaway. Interestingly enough, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/jag.png Lagab is in the front, doing work for his sprinter captain i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/jag.png Sam Bennett. The gap is down to just 1'44".

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic06_zps65cc2c97.jpg

The last intermediate sprint is won by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Shishelov. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Sterbini is second, while i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/amx.png Grillo sprints to third once again. Interesting that the Italian choose to use up some of his power just 18 kilometers away from the finish line.

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic07_zps43532262.jpg

It's going to be a bunch sprint today, as i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Shishelov and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Sterbini is caught with a little less than ten kilometers to go!

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic08_zps782717af.jpg

It's a weird situation now. There are less than five kilometers to go, yet, nobody wants to form a train. The speed is just at 32 km/h.

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic09_zps51228dfa.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png Haussler is the better placed sprinter, and opens up his sprint already three kilometers from the line. Except for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kap.png Oscar Gatto, every sprinter is lacking from the front.

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic10_zps9b6af655.jpg

It looks like an easy win for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png Heinrich Haussler. He heads under the flamme rouge with a solid lead on his teammate i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png Sebastian Turgot. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kap.png Gatto leads the fight for third, with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gzl.png Daniel Oss following right behind.

i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w595/VizZaP/PCMdaily%20Management%20Game/5%20Jours%20de%20Dunkerque/Stage%201/pic11_zpsd43775f0.jpg

Stage win for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png Heinrich Haussler! The i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png La Vie Claire-rider wins a very weird sprint where he is more or less unchallenged. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/amx.png Paride Grillo comes like a storm on the last few meters to take second ahead of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/qst.png Marc de Maar and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png Sebastian Turgot. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kap.png Gatto takes 5th. Meanwhile, everyone will be asking themselves what i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Holloway, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Vanderbiest and the other sprinters were doing today.
