Two National Champs and Loanees
The transfer season is approaching Day 3 and have an update on our progress.
We start with a pair of regional NC winners.
Brent Bookwalter
32 Years Old : € 120,000 : 82nd PCT Individual Standings (222 Points)
Purchased from Kenya Airways - Dimension Data for € 400,000
Bookwalter dethroning Zabriskie to become USA TT Champion.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 71 | 72 | 72 | 79 | 69 | 72 | 70 | 55 | 62 | 66 | 73 | 70 | 79 |
Bookwalter gives us both American national champions and is a solid rider to add to our growing TT depth. Combined with maxed out Fraile and Verona, this is the deepest TT squad I've ever managed. Look for us to shine in more TTT events this season.
Christian Meier
31 Years Old : € 50,000 : 360th PCT Individual Standings (18 Points)
Purchased from RBC Pro Cycling for € 50,000
Meier wins Canadian RR Championships by half a wheel.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 69 | 73 | 64 | 76 | 69 | 74 | 71 | 64 | 61 | 71 | 71 | 76 | 76 |
Meier is a decent mountain domestic and will make for a perfect TTT guy in mountainous stage races. The fact he gets to pull on the Canada flag in road races is a nice bonus as well. Surprisingly enough, he will be the first Canadian cyclist I've ever managed.
Name | From | Role | Main Stat | Wage (Paid) | Fabio Silvestre | Karcher-Adira | Sprinter | SP: 78 | 90,000 (45,000) | William Chiarello | Karcher-Adira | Climber | MO: 76 | 90,000 (45,000) | Xavier Quevedo | Azteca - NBCSN | Punchuer | HL: 76 | 50,000 (0) |
Clause: We will max out all three Level 4.XX cyclists.
Tyler Farrar
32 Years Old : € 95,000 : 105th PCT Individual Standings (172 Points)
Purchased from Azteca - NBCSN for Edwin Parra Bustamante + € 150,000
Farrar takes the win during Stage 14 of the Tour of America.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 72 | 56 | 62 | 70 | 75 | 68 | 76 | 71 | 79 | 77 | 63 | 75 | 70 |
Farrar is brought it to pick up the slack left by Romain Maksimov. He will get chances in his own races, help on the cobbles and, if Maksimov is feeling up to it (doesn't happen very often) then as a lead-out guy.
More details are coming, both in and out. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the transfer season.

More Signings, More Departures
Transfer update part two features a lot of action and former leaders heading out.
Let's start with the riders we have agreed to loan-in this season.
Clause: We will max out all three Level 4.XX cyclists.
Moving on to a rather familiar signing.
Jordi Simon
26 Years Old : € 50,000 : 371th PCT Individual Standings (69 Points)
Purchased from Free Agency.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 67 | 76 | 66 | 53 | 71 | 76 | 69 | 50 | 58 | 65 | 67 | 61 | 53 |
Simon rode for us last season as a loanee for Buff - Polska. His former team collapsed in the offseason leaving Simon as a free agent. We are happy to welcome him back to be apart of our mountain train again.
And that leaves us with three departures to share.
All three cyclists didn't really fit our plans anymore and we wish them the best of luck as Fothen and Barrio head to the PCT and Young stays up in the PT.
We have a few more transfers planned, but overall our phones are beginning to cool off and there isn't a lot we have left to do at this moment. I'm quite happy with the team this season and think it will be an improvement on last season.
I'll be back with one more big transfer update when we finalize the squad.

Our final transfer update. The squad is officially finalized.
First, the return of a former mountain leader.
David Abal
30 Years Old : € 800,000 : 32nd PCT Individual Standings (523 Points)
Purchased from Free Agency.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 68 | 81 | 70 | 77 | 74 | 77 | 76 | 61 | 58 | 73 | 71 | 73 | 77 |
Abal catapulted us from the bottom of the PCT to promotion 2 years ago. We sold him back to the PCT last year, but with Buff - Polska throwing in the towel, now he will get his chance to prove his worth for us in the PT.
Next, an American helper for Abal.
Tyler Brandt
26 Years Old : € 75,000 : 30nd CT Individual Standings (195 Points)
Purchased from Free Agency.
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FT | DH | PL | 67 | 76 | 69 | 73 | 74 | 69 | 72 | 62 | 60 | 66 | 66 | 71 | 72 |
Brandt goes from riding in the CT last year with Gatorade - SIS to being a valuable member of our PT mountain train. Quite a leap, but we think he is quite capable to get the job done for us.
To afford this pair we needed to get rid of a few cyclists.
'
Not shown is € 1,600,000 left over for training. Thoughts?

Before transfers we already had three national champions on our squad. Now we have added two more! Five NC winners is by far the most we have ever had.
As always, a massive thanks to our brilliant designer aidanvn13.

Crazy that you only got 200K for Insausti. I didnt even realize that he was for sale... Would have easily paid double!
Oh Well... Its a very nice looking team, and with some great talents.

Inside the Team Car: Classico Chaotico
February 16, 2016 : Classique du Grand-Duché : Luxembourg
Mre: We need somebody in the breakaway today, for the thousand time this race is huge for our sponsors. They expect nothing less than a win today.
Newton: I'll do it boss. I'm up for it.
Mre: Sorry, Newt. You're a little too unpredictable. Just stay focused on getting bottles up to Tejay. Okay? Any other volunteers? No. Um...
Garcia: I'll take one for the team.
Mre: Perfect. Have at it.
Mre: Well done, Ego. How you feeling?
Garcia: Like shit. That might have been the hardest I've had to work to join a breakaway in my career. This better be worth it...
TVG: Suck it up and pedal.
Garcia: SÃ senor captain.
TVG: Newton! Where's my bottle!?!
Newton: Oh... yeah. I forgot. Hold on, it's coming.
Mre: How is everybody doing? We are good shape right now.
Tsatevich: Average.
TVG: Feeling strong.
Newton: Tired....
Mre: Of course. Ego?
Garcia: ...
Mre: Garcia, you there?
Domene: I think his radio is broken. Or he turned it off?
TVG: What the hell?
Mre: Ego is still having radio problems, but he must have recovered. Just got word he attacked away from the breakaway. Everyone hold your ground for now.
TVG: Roger that, keep me posted. I'm feeling great and ready to go. Only a matter of time before the favorites start making moves out here.
TVG: I'm going. I've had enough.
Mre: What are you doing!?! Race radio says Ego is leading the field by three minutes!
TVG: There is no way in hell that is right. I'm in too good shape to risk it, for all we know Garcia is half dead up there. It's now or never.
Newton: So, you don't want your last bottle?
TVG: No. I'm going.
TVG: I left it way too late, there is no way I can outsprint these guys.
Mre: Don't worry, I think Ego has this!
TVG: Thanks for the motivation...
Garcia: ...
TVG: Garcia sighted. I'm going after him, this is my victory!
Garcia: ...
TVG: That Spanish punk. Who does he think he is... *laughter* What are the sponsors going to think of this boss?
Mre: What the hell just happen!?! Pinch me, I'm dreaming.
Newton: Ok.

Time Flies By, End of 2016
Man, where did this season go? We offer our sincere apologies for not keeping our HQ up to date. Our staff let us down on that. We are currently working on getting the results updated in the first few posts to keep up with our extensive history.
The end of the season offered a brutal setback: Relegation. One of the harshest words in sports. For good reason, our HQ has been pretty somber the last couple of days.
Cyclists are unsure about their future and we were unsure about our future.
Well, I can offer the good news that we will return next season and aim to take the PCT circuit by storm.
As for our cyclists? Well, with every new offseason comes change. We have to find a way to cut our salaries down to meet the salary cap next season, which means some guys will have to go. But, I'm sure they will find work elsewhere next season. They are all talented athletes and deserve a chance to race somewhere.
That aside, I also have some more sad news. While everyone could probably see it coming, it still hurts to see it come to reality.
It's the end of the Movistar-US Postal era.
Crazy, it's been five years already since we were the new kids on the block.
We have now set out to find new sponsors and have already received a couple phone calls from companies that are interested in joining us in the PCT.
We will work something out and share the good news after we finalize something.
In the meantime, hopefully our guys can have one last memorable ride in these kits at Nationals and a few of them can shine for their country at the Worlds.
Until next time, Mre.

A brief look back at our memorable moments from the 2016 season.
PT 18th Overall : 3/5 Goals : 6 Wins
***Team Standings*** | Top 10 | 18th Overall | Tour de France | Points/KoM Jersey | 15th - David Abal (KoM) | Vuelta a Espana | Stage Win | 3rd - Tejay Van Garderen | Classique du Grand-Duché | Win | 1st - Egoitz Garcia | Paris - Roubaix | Top 10 | 10th - Marcos Altur |
The first win of the season was probably the most memorable. Egoitz Garica shocked the peloton by winning the one-day race from the breakaway. Tejay Van Garderen then outsprinted the peloton for the historic double on a day the sponsors wanted us to win. I don't think there was ever been a day I've been so nervous in the team car.
Tejay Van Garderen, what can you say? Three stages and an eighth place finish in a Grand Tour for a guy that loves hills way more than mountains. Just when everybody thought we would finally drop in GC, he rode even harder. Attacked when everybody thought we was gassed. He put together 21 stages of racing that we will never forget.
Van Garderen wasn't the only one to have Grand Tour triumphs. USA climber Lawrence Warbasse came out of nowhere to take Stage 19 and Stage 21 of the Giro. The first from the breakaway of the day and the second after a late mid-race attack. Both the victories also came in the hills, and not the mountains.
To Maksimov, this was a disappointment. The Russian Rocket was one spot away from winning his home classic. What made it even worse was the fact that it was a late attacker that stole it from him. He outsprinted the field, but it wasn't good enough. In a fit of rage, Maksimov trashed the team bus after the race.
With the addition of American TT champion Brent Bookwalter and Canadian TT champion Christian Meier in the offseason it was clear we wanted to be faster against the clock. Their impact didn't go unnoticed. Movistar-US Postal placed 2nd twice in stages at the Giro d'Italia and Tour of Suisse, plus took 6th at the Tour de France and Copenhagen-Malmo.

@jandal7: Thanks. The stats are pretty fun to compare from season to season, especially the efficiency. We actually had a more efficient team this year than last year, but finished a spot worse. Many thanks to David Abal being a bust. Hopefully, it will be a quick rebound but there is a lot of fun to be had in the PCT still.

New Sponsors for the 2017 Season
Hello everyone, thank you attending today's reveal for the future of our cycling program. I'm very excited to announce what's ahead for us, as I begin to embark on my sixth season in the Man-Game.
But, before I get into it, I'd like to acknowledge the past. Three seasons with Team CSC-Orbea and the last two years with Movistar-US Postal has provided the path we are about to head down.
I have managed 71 cyclists from 15 different nations, experienced the highs and lows of each division and built bonds that will last a lifetime. Not just on the road, but behind the scenes.
From managing Roman Makismov's outbursts to just watching Carlos Sastre, Igor Anton, Ivan Basso, Rui Costa, David Abal, Tejay Van Garderen... the list goes on and on... put the team on their backs.
While it's my job to put together the best team possible, it's having the opportunity to watch cyclists grow, challenge themselves and sometimes achieve success that makes this job so rewarding.
Yet, everything isn't going to go perfect all the time. And here we are saying goodbye to the Pro Tour and going down a division. The lack of results cost us our sponsors, but it also opened a new door and that's why I'm talking to you today.
We were presented with an opportunity to support a cause that hits close to home. For those that don't know, earlier this season in June Taylor Newton's father suffered a stroke and passed away.
The news was devastating to the team and the Newton family. The sudden loss caught everyone off guard. Well, a few months ago, Taylor Newton decided to start a charity to raise awareness and funds for stroke victims and survivors.
Partnering with the National Stroke Association, the Newton Foundation was established. After extensive talks with Taylor, we are proud to announce that the Newton Foundation will be our main sponsors for next season.
Joining our cause to help provide "Hope after Strokes" are the following companies: Bissell, Desigual, Fox, HTC, Trek and Bontrager.
We can't thank our designer krisa enough for the new simplistic kit.
Newton Foundation
Thank you for joining us today, enjoy the rest of your Friday.

Beautiful jersey and interesting change in sponsor Mre!
Kinda funny that this season every team is puling out a very simple clean kit.

One of the cleanest kits for sure! Love it! Will be scary to see TvG in PCT, definitely going to be a thorn in the side of Kinoshita, although I am looking forward to us being in the same division apart from that!
