Much weaker startlist than anticipated and definitely Sicard's race to lose. Our team of youngsters and no-hopers have 0 expectations, so if I see our team mentioned it can surely only be a positive!
Thanks tsmoha for the preview

I'm not really sure what to expect in this race, Silvestre has no company for sprints and will have to take advantage of the work of others. If you can achieve a victory you will already be a success.
78-73-73-71-70-70-69-65 of my team at TTT, I hope it is enough to avoid big losses of time... Then we have to wait for a good day on the mountain by Marquez and Nazaret

Great, I've been waiting for this one! Very happy that the startlist isn't any stronger, I think Schelling will be able to get another very good result. The dream would be a stage win and a podium, but we'll see. Generali will be tough to beat in the TTT as always, and it is impossible to look past Sicard for the win.
Our TTT line up is: 80, 78, 77, 76, 75, 75, 71, 71
Can't wait!

This have always been one of my favorite races. I look forward to see how it unravels.
I have a glimmer of hope, that this will be on the PTHC calender in the future.

Surprised not to see more top PCT climbers at the start. Especially Amador for UBS at home.
That is good news for Henao who should be the strongest climber together with Sicard. Hopefully he's able to limit the losses in the TT's and The hilly stage.
Could really use a good result (read top 3) after some dissapointing races. Kolesnikov it's also time for him to start performing.
We always lose less time than expected in TTT's. Hope that keeps up.

So, here we go. Sicard's first race of the season, and with that startlist he absolutely has to win this race. No excuses. |

Upside of having a crap TTT team, at least we don't drop our team leader

Very nice result for Sicard, congrats to CrueTrue!
Also good to see Kwiatek lurking just behind. Froome lost a little bit more time, but he's got the capacity to make up the distance. C'mon Netia and Fablok!

Well, nothing new here, we saw this TTT behaviour at the end of EPIC in 2015. Still sucks for the managers involved though.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

A good stage result for us here I think. Duarte already 4th of the GC contenders and many quite far behind.

We were 12" up after 5 kms and lost 17" in 7 kms. Wow. I'm not saying that it's awful since UBS has a great line-up, but damn PCM that's not what goes down in real life
JFC, how the hell did Roglic's 72 TT ass not even resist 18 kms being carried by riders that aren't all that much better than him? He's not Ulissi that straight up sucks against the clock, he's supposed to be good... I'm not asking for much, but maybe don't just get dropped, like, immediately? He lost 1'50" to the team, and I can guarantee that it doesn't quite work like that irl. Oh well. Guess we're not promoting for another year.
Thanks tsmoha, congrats Bushwackers though I'm sure you're quite fucking gutted too.

A bad ride, but a very expected one. It could have been worse I guess.

Yeah. It sucks for teams like Generali and UBS. And Jayco when Morton is there Must admit that I did not notice this happening last season. But I guess it did, since it is the same game engine after all.

Feel for Matt, dropping Roglic then not even winning the stage, shame for UBS too but at least they take a consolation prize.
Not too sure how I feel about that, I said I wanted to keep the losses below 30 seconds, we got 39' but only 17' seconds on Sicard, 8' on Brajko, 3' on VDB and gains on everybody else is a huge success. Also, being 2nd at the first check was hilarious.
Otherwise LLS losing time isn't really that great but I can deal with that (weird though given he is one of our stronger time trialists )
Thanks for the fantastic report tsmoha!
Also, I worked out the provisional GC because I can't read TTT results
Spoiler 1. Rafaâ Chtioui 21'42
2. Romain Sicard + 22'
3. Janez Brajkovich + 31'
4. Jurgen Van Den Broeck + 36'
5. Edoardo Zardini + 36'
6. Fabio Duarte + 38'
7. Michal Kwiatkowski + 39'
8. Magno Nazaret + 40'
9. Florentino Marquez +40'
10. William Chiarello + 42'
11. Sergio Luis Henao Montoya + 44'
12. Alberto Contador + 1'01
13. Christopher Juul-Jensen + 1'01
14. Nicolas Roche + 1'11
15. Warren Barguil + 1'15
16. David de la Cruz + 1 '15
17. Andrew Talansky + 1'25
18. Patrick Schelling + 1'50
19. Primož Roglic + 1'58
20. Damiano Cunego + 2'00
21. Jarlinson Pantano Gómez + 3'42

I did a quick search of last year's 10ish TTT results (excluding ToNE because cobbles) and found mentions of leaders dropped in about half of them, mostly the really bad TTers though that can't really complain.
So it's obviously not a new issue, but appears more prevalent so far this season.
Certainly nobody of Roglic's quality has been affected by this issue yet though, which really goes against any common sense when planning...

It looked like a solid TTT until i looked at the individual results, both our Team leaders dropped wtf was wrong with the AI
Anyway Sólis is absolutely out of GC, Rujano with a big disadvantage so Claerebout hopefully can take part of the top20 in the end, but it wasn't a good start

Should probably have ditched the sprinters and brought in a better TTT squad, where we will have a hard time to bounce back. Luckily the hill stage is before the mountain one, so we still got a chance to end in the Top 5-10

I came into this race with a very average TTT line up but it looks like VDB and Zardini have been carried very well by Cornu there. Finishing 5th as a team and losing only 14 seconds to the best GC contender is very acceptable as I expected much worse. This sets us up nicely to have a proper go at this race!

Yes that was to be expected, Schelling was just a decoy and we are really here for Rafaa Chtioui's GC ambitions
Oh well. At least they won, there will be a decent point haul just from that. Matt Im sure you will have our number the rest of the season, you definitely have a better TTT squad in general. Maybe we can have a truce here and Schelling and Roglic can make a long breakaway in the mountains
Top 10 still possible though! Thanks for the report tsmoha

I really thought that Cunego couldn't be dropped with the shitty TTT team we have send, but he did it! I guess that now only the top20 is within reach, unless he can find some amazing legs that he hasn't had in all season so far
