Welcome to the Pre-race Discussion Thread of GP Yekaterinburg (which btw clashes with another "Grote Prijs"; Rheden GP (a hors catégorie cobble race in Gelderland, The Netherlands). GP Yekaterinburg's profile is pretty straightforward; 8 laps of 25kms and finish uphill. Netia - Norske Skog is probably the strongest team here with Zeits, Sinkewitz, Der and Stachowiak, but Severstal-Mercator has the strongest puncheur on paper; Jose Mendes, who was 2nd last year behind Gracjan Lejman.
There're six riders from Russia on the startlist, Kirill Pozdnyakov is the best puncheur of those six riders but he will probably be supporting his team-leader Frantisek Rabon, so a Russian on the podium (like in 2013 when Eduard Vorganov won the race) is unlikely to happen.
184 riders on the full startlist, a nice mix of riders with oldies like Sylvain Chavanel and Mauricio Ardila (both 36yrs old) and youngsters like Anton Cooper and Christos Loizou (both 21yrs old).

Thank you for a very nice preview Oleg!
I think we field a strong team here, so I hope to see us in front towards the end of the race. The absolute worst case scenario is of course to see Andrey Zeits taking this |

Great preview as ever, Oleg!
Well as you can see we've almost ran out of suitable races to snap back into the CT top 6. This definitely is not. Once again, I'll be hoping for Passalacqua to redeem himself and prove, for once, his worth.. We have Molard here though, so hopefully he will keep scoring big.
Picking Rabon to win this!

Great preview
Lejman won last year and he will fail hard by last years standards.
Top 5 would be great and also show our ambition for being in the Top 5 in the end of the final rankings. Nice place to be as you would've promoted regardless of disbandments.

I should've send Kinney to here instead of Canada, Selander/Duggan might not do the job here.

Very important race for us. After some horrible races for the last months we've dropped a bit on the rankings. Rabon/Pozdnyakov will need to score better here if we want to win the rankings. A good result would obviously please the sponsors too. That's two good motives to perform here, so hopefully the team lives up to the expectations.
Great preview Oleg, thanks for that

Let's go De Maar! Finish the season strong! We brought the bet team we possibly could, with Koep, Bochman and Schoffman along for the ride.

A very important race for us if we want to promote, so really hoping to win here, and we've got a big hill train here.
5 riders motioned in the preview as well is pretty cool.
Thanks a lot for the great and in-depth preview Oleg.

Key race for us as we hurtle towards the end of the season, but a worryingly strong startlist. Acevedo absolutely has to emerge from his season-long rut and put in a good performance here. A podium would be greatly appreciated at this late stage!
EDIT: Sorry for mis-clicking on your preview and giving you a random Zabel'd thing by mistake

First of all: Great preview Oleg, thanks for that!
We have a win goal here (as its our home race), so I really hope Mendes is gonna do that. Our only win so far was in a pretty similiar race in San Cristobal. Now Mendes, make your legs shut up!

I hope the race will be as good as the preview
My team haven't been that good on hilly races this year, so i don't expect too much here

We should of won that, or at least podiumed...
The team did so much work for Zeits, but in the finale nothing, we had all 8 riders up right at the front but it was just Der chasing for himself behind Zeits and points matter so much to us now...
Still the team worked well chasing and 5th isn't bad and Der finished 9th, I just feel we could of done more earlier rather then just chase everything.
Thanks for the report Oleg. And congrats Silvio.
