Mother Russia in September, and you can feel it. It's just not freezing here and on top of everything it's raining. The riders will have to climb to the town of Yekeratinburg 10 times over an 264km course.

The favorites are Frank Schleck, Cunego and Hagen. Although home riders Trofimov and Efimkin might be a big threat.

We've only got four riders in the break today; Martinez, Fouquet, Sys and Mendes. They get a maximum gap of 13' minutes at the halfway mark.

The peleton is being lead trough the town of Yekeratinburg by La Gazzetta and Vesuvio. They have everything under control, as they steadily reel in the break.

When we get on the 8th climb of the day, Sys gets dropped by the break and picked up by the pack.

On top of the climb, Mendes and Fouquet also get caught, still one left.

Egoi Martinez wants to be in front just a little longer.

But somewhere before the penultimate climb he gets caught aswell. Time for the favorites.

And it doesn't take to long, as soon as we hit the first rising slopes, Cunego Efimkin, Bakelants and L.L. Sanchez attack.

Hagen and Schleck counter. Trofimov and most other favorites stay in the pack, thinking this is to early. It might, but we'll find out soon enough.

Just before the downhill, some more attacks. Di Luca and Visconti are followed by Schleck's teammate Ignlinksy.

Ghisalberti and Soler try to follow them.

Up front the order has changes a bit. Efimkin is out of the first group and is chasing together with Hagen. Cunego, Sanchez, Schleck and Bakelants are leading them with 50 seconds just before the downhill.

Hagen is trying his all to reach them though, Efimkin has all the trouble in the world trying to keep up. Behind them there's already a 1'20" gap to the 5 other attackers.

In one of the little hills in front of the last big climb, Van Garderen, Sinkewitz, Rodriguez, Vanendert and S. Sanchez attack.

Ulissi is countering in the downhill.

Up front, Schleck let a little gap to the rest of the group for no apparent reason. So Cunego decides to attack.

But not this time. Schleck is incredibly strong and pulls back Cunego on the steepest parts of the last climb. Hagan also managed to close the gap to them.

In the back Nibali, S. Sanchez and Efimkin attack from a large group of favorites. And back in the pack Trofimov finally decides to attack. But it's all to late as the winner will be from the front 5.

Schleck got a small gap on the other, thanks to the climb. It's only 1.5km left, this is looking good for Schleck.

It's looking excellent for Schleck as he wins it. More then deserved.

Hagen and Bakelants complete the podium. Cunego gets 4th and L.L. Sanchez 5th.

A minute later, the other Sanchez sprints to 6th place in front of Efimkin. Good result here by the wildcard team.

Ulissi takes 8th, Nibali 9th and Sinkewitz rounds of the top 10.

And there comes Trofimov in 11th place. Seemingly not tired at all, as he sprinted far away from most of the other favorites. Why didn't he attack earlier on?
