Busy Busy Busy

The real world of Cycling keeps us plenty busy in these spring months. Milan - San Remo provided 16 pages of discussion, and that's with barely a passing glance at the Demare controversy. The Volta a Catalunya 2016 (March 21th - 27th) has gone live with the race beginning today and running to the end of the week, so plenty to discuss as we get the first real face-off between the big GC boys. Regular updates in the Womens Cycling 2016 thread and the Other Races 2016 keep you abreast of all the results and action, with News in March being for the news. So yeah, we've got your spring cycling covered!

Plenty of Games

It was a big weekend for some community projects. The Daily Song Contest's 5th Edition was won, some what surprisingly, by Somlia thanks to Kn'an - Wave Your Flag. He beat out a strong challenge from Norway in second and a joint-3rd for Australia and New Zealand. Swtizerland need to up their game having finished dead last. This was the biggest Contest yet and it was excellent, kudos to EwanWilson!

The rFactor League concluded it's season at Knockhill. Speedylu reigned victorious in the race whilst Paul23 took the Championship honors. A very successful season that was packed with high class racing. Already a second season is in the works, check out the thread for deatils. I can highly highly recommend taking part!

Finally i'll mention Next Generation, a new Story Game from Croatia14 and Trekbmc, which looks promising alongside the established ICL and a few other suttering games.

Thread of the Week

I'm not going with any of the cycling threads but going to give it to ICL16 - Race Discussion! The ICL
has been going as strong as ever again and the talk and action has been enthralling recently. Very much worth checking out!

Velogames Spring Classics
PCM.daily's Fantasy Cycling

Velogames have been really active recently with Paris Nice and Tirreno Adriatico games. And now it's time for one of their biggest event which is run over couple of weeks: the spring classics.

It starts with Milan San Remo this Sunday, includes all the big WT and HC cobbled classics and ends with the hills of the Ardennes.

Different to their other games,  it's obviously impossible to find a nice team for all classics. Hence you will get a total of 24 transfers to use in between the first and last classic. Having a nice combination of scorers in many classics is vital to win.

The exact rules can be found on the velogames site including the ranking system.

New Admin!

haasje33, well known leader of the PCM.Daily DB Team, has been promoted to the Admin team! The Downloads Section will be an area of focus as well as compiling more files from across the PCM community. SN introduced him better just below.

Database Team reinforcements

With the 2016DB released, PCM.daily's Database Team is already busy with preparations for the next projects. For the past few years, the team only consisted of 6 to 8 members, who had to do a lot of work in order to produce databases with the same quality that you expect from the PCM.daily Databases. To reduce the work load of the members and to be able to add even more features in future releases, the team has decided to look for some reinforcements.

the_hoyle and Greg956 have been added as graphics artists. They will be aiding both haasje33 (general graphics) and sgdanny (equipment). Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to MARSUPILAMI, who wasn't able to do his assigned work in the end. Also, to be able to get more up-to-date races in our future databases, we searched for one or two stage makers to join the team. We're glad that we were able to add togo95 to the team, but we're still looking for another member who can deliver new stages on a frequent base. Contact haasje33 by PM if you're interested. Experience is a condition to join the team. Last, but not least, Abelbaba and Croatia14 have been added to the team. They will be aiding in the database editing and they'll be dealing with some additional general stuff. - Written by haasje33

Community Battle

PCM Focus is launching a new inter-community online PCM competition. There will be Road and Track events against teams from a number of other PCM communities. Think PCM World Cup but friendlier and less serious. PCM Focus are hosting the idea so full details and discussion can be found on their site via this link. Sign-Ups close on Friday 18th March so there is time to think and read first.

Assorted News

Lachi decided to take all the fun out of the betting competion. A massive win on Strade Bianche, courtesy of Cancellara, gives him a whopping $10,000+ lead over previous big winner Carsley. I think we are learning that you can make some big wins following the changes to the Fantasy Betting, so i wouldn't say the competition is over just yet.

In the ICL a hugely dramataic Tour de France is coming to a tense and exciting finish. Pretty hard to call a winner just yeat as the race throws up something new every single stage. It's a brilliant advertisement for Bikex's very successful game.

Thread of the Week

Fairly obvious i think, and no i don't mean the Politics Thread! It's a shared award between Paris - Nice 2016 and Tirreno - Adriatico 2016 which have both been busy with discussion and reaction to both races across the week. Could it have really been anything else?!

haasje33 joins the Admin team!
News

I'm pleased to announce that we have appointed a new member our Admin team, as haasje33 becomes our newest administrator. He has led the PCM.daily Expansion Pack team for a couple of years now and been one of the key figures in ensuring the quality of these releases. The Downloads section is likely to be an area of focus for haasje, and hopefully we will be able to bring you more files from across the PCM community as a result.

2016 In PCM

The week kicked off in fine fashion with the release of PCM.Dailys 2016 DB release, for PCM15. It took a couple of days to get there but we'll skip over that. Already it's racked up over 1500 downloads, with the variant pack surpassing the 500 mark. A great rate of success! Very simply put, it's a 2016 DB which means updated teams and riders and plenty of other high quality work. The DB team has explained it all before.

The DB team has done a great job and they deserve an awful lot of credit and thanks. With a hopeful idea of monthly stat updates, and hopefully one or two updates, your PCM15 will replicate the 2016 season better than any other DB or any other season before!

Classic Classics

The "real" cycling season is in full flow which brings a whole load of activity to the site. Join in the discussion on todays Stade Bianche events. Remember to take part in our Velogames league with Paris-Nice imminent. Let alone mentioning the Other Races 2016, News in March, Womens Cycling 2016 threads to discuss and follow the season as it builds pace in these spring months.

Alonside that don't forget our Fantasy Betting, with Paris-Nice bets still open and Tirreno-Adriatico bets soon to appear as well. It's been a busy week for the betting with Track Worlds, Omloop, KBK, Strade Bianche and Womens Strade Bianche bets. I have to mention Carsley who won $9,712.50 on Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. He sets the early pace in the competition.

Games Galore

The site is buzzing with all sorts of activity, least of all games! The ICL has recently got itself back upto pace and is currently entering Week 2 of the Tour de France. CycloCross: A New Dawn is down in South Africa where yet again controversy is a hot topic. And as i've already mentioned there's Velogames for cycling fun.

So beyond that there's rFactor heading to Laguna Seca in Trucks in the afternoon and then the League VTCC race this evening. The Daily Song Contest is back and voting will open shortly in what should be a tight contest, unless you're Canada or Zimbabwe. Big Brother has returned for a third season, and it's worth watching the house mates battle it out. Where Am I? GeoGuesser is into a second season. And frankly they may be another game or two i've overlooked there's that many taking place. We cater for all here on Daily!

Thread of the Week

Ok the obvious picks are Cafe Pedro or the Politics Thread for their discussion on all sorts from guns to the oscars to general government to the American presidential elections. And all carried out with out resorting to insults or petty bickering, kudos guys. But my Thread of the Week goes to PCMDaily DB Stat Discussion - PCM15. A new DB kicked off big discussion but also a ton of great recommendations for smaller riders. It's been active and with great quality.
