Weekly News #204
calling this giro boring is just crime against humanity - Guido Mukk
PCM/TDF 16 Info, At Last
Focus finally gave us some PCM and TDF 2016 news on Friday. Five screenshots taken from the games were posted on social media, confirming that COM is still a thing if not much else. They also put a bit more of a summary on their website, and i mean a summary. No real details as yet but a lot of hints at good things like Co-Op multiplayer and Steam Workshop support. You can read our full news article below this.
Microjerseys
Thanks to some work from roturn and matt17br, mostly matt, we've added a new little feature... sort of. By clicking here you can find a list of microjerseys for 2016 cycling teams. Simply copy the link of the team you want, paste it in the thread, and wrap the link with the image bb code. They work just like normal images would. So now you can decorate your posts with pretty pictures or draw emphasis or do whatever you want with them.
Games
You've still got time to sign-up for ICL17, and i still cannot recommend doing so enough! It's going to be bigger and better than ever and it is a fantastic game. Just ask those that play, they will all scream at you to join!
CX:AND has kicked on again this week. Big races in the World Cup and Coca-Cola trophy have drawn lots of top quality comment. The season is now greaing up for the NES finale in Kitakyushu, Japan, and then the Continental Championships.
By a vote of 5-1-0, Marcovdw (i can spell!) won Big Brother Season 3. Marcodvw earned himself a very nice userbar. Marcowdv also earned the respect of the players and spectators with a well played game. Marwcodv will now find it harder than ever to win another game.
Finally the Man-Game. The MG you say? But that's dead you say? Not as dead as some of you might think. Sleep easy knowing that SN has been tied to a chair and tortured for information that has been passed on to the relevant people. So start keeping your eyes peeled in the coming weeks for it to start waking up.
Thread of the Week
I would give it to CX:AND but there's definitely some heavy bias. I also considered the Giro Week 2 thread for being by far the most popular thread, and containing some good discussion, but no. Who was the best Thomas Voeckler of all time?is my thread of the week to honor Tommy and his 4 Giro appearences.
Cyanide took their time this year but at last we have some real information from them on the upcoming games. They've released five screenshots taken from the Pro Cycling Manager 2016 and Tour de France 2016 games, due to be released in June on PC, PS4 and XbOne.
So what can we see? To look at the images yourself click on read more below. Looks like more lisenced teams than before, although still no BMC. The bikes themselves seem updated, or at least they've changed the coloring to be more realistic on several of them. Apart from that you can't tell much from the screenshots. Looks pretty as ever!
If you jump to the Focus website you can find a touch more info. For Tour de France 2016 you'll be getting new and specific Mont Saint-Michal, Mont Ventoux and Champs Eleysees graphics. Descent Challenge will be multiplayer. New updates and additions to Pro Team mode. Finally they're adding "throw their bikes", or as we normal people say "lunging for the line in a sprint".
Pro Cycling Manager 2016 will come with 550 stages as standard. Lots of changes to Multiplayer where you can change all sorts of race rules, and apparently Co-Op! More interactions added to Be-A-Pro. New Objective and Sponsor system to Career mode. As well as usual graphical and AI changes. Finally they are adding Steam Workshop support!
If this doesn't get thread of the week then there's a serious problem - maxime86
Are you ready to rumble?!
No we're not having a wresting match, despite what you might read at times. Haasje33 and the_hoyle are working together to launch a brand new PCM.Daily competiton! The PCM.Daily Graphics Contest will be launched shortly. It'll cover a lot more than just your usual Jerseys, including all those lovely little accesories and equipment that make packs brilliant. You can find the more specific details and rules and such in the thread.
I can already recommend following as the quality will surely be out of this world!
Giro for days
We've got more than enough Giro d'Italia for you to consume. Every stage of the opening week we had you covered from start to finish and beyond. And now we are doing the same for week two! If you want to discuss the Giro, we've got you covered. Or if you want some advice on a little side action there's a thread for that as well, uniquely. Plus don't forget our almost daily Fantasy Bets, someone's gotta catch Lachi!
High Drama
It's unbelieveable Jeff! Big Brother Season 3 is going to see a champion crowned any moment, and it's been tense right to the wire. The usual finale of "The Questions" finally saw the alliances exposed and the dirty tricks made public. Has trekbmc, jandal7 or Marcovdw convinced the voters? They must be on edge...
CX:AND has had a bit more action this week. The big event was the Christmas Classic in Switzerland, where Lipawsky took the big paycheck and the glory. Eyes back to the main competitions with the Coca-Cola Trophy FujiCross up next. Well worth taking some time out to read and catch up on what is still the best game on Daily.
ICL17 Sign-ups are still very much alive and open. Do take the chance to join the best management game currently running. It really is fantastic and worth your consideration and effort. Sign-up and make the 2017 season the best one yet, even though it already will be.
Thread of the Week
One thread this week made me laugh more than any other by a huge margin. Packed with comedy gold, as well as a couple of people missing the joke, it had me coming back several times a day for many many days. Even now i'll happily go back through and re-read it to get a good chuckle. My thread of the week is The Eurovision Thread. and seeing as so many of us are Europeans, it can't really be a surprise.
Let it Go! You'll never see me cry - Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez
Daily DB v1.2
It was released on Monday by the DB Team. A number of updates to our own top-class DB including, but not limited to: Adding the Community 2016 Giro d'Italia, Lots of new Free Agents, Lots of Updated Stats, New Jerseys and Bugfixes. You can get a full list of fixes, as well as where to download it, via clicking this very link! And as if the DB Team didn't do enough for you they put together an updated Variant DLC as well!
Cycling Explosion
It's the first Grand Tour of the year, what did you expect to be the big focus of the week? We kicked off the week in a sad affair with a string of accidents and illnesses, which were well discussed in the News in May thread which did cover a number of other news stories as well, not all doom and gloom. Related is the ever increasing interest in the Transfers 16/17 thread as more team and rider news and rumors emerge.
Then this Friday it all kicked off for the Giro d'Italia. Giro d'Italia 2016 - Week 1 (6th - 15th May) will keep you more than up to date on every single days action from start to finish, as well as pretty much constantly in between. We are basically your #1 source for the Giro, don't bother with Twitter or Eurosport, you just need PCM.Daily for considered, measured, insightful and on-topic updates.
Roll Up, Roll Up!
The ICL is right about to conclude it's 2016 season, and what does that mean? Sign-Ups time!!! Go to the ICL17 - Signup and join in. With the Man-Game on hiatus the ICL is your best chance to get that fix of role-play managerial stuff. It's gone from strength to strength each season and already is on target to be the biggest season thus far. Stop reading this and go sign-up. Seriously. Go. Stop reading, i'm not going to say anything better. Sign-up. Now. NOW. Why are you still here? GO!
Thread of the Week
At a couple of points this week i thought the choice would be clear. Three times i was shown to be wrong for various reasons and now i've had to go digging. Sometimes when you dig you find pure gold. Great Heroes of cycling is my thread of the week. It stayed away from Armstrong, just, and delivered a range of interesting and informative stories on some rather unknown riders. Well worth a read in the thread, and then more than worth expanding your knowledge of cyclings illustrious past. Plus it shows how to present your opposing views with dignity.
A Final Note
Remember that we are a community here on PCM.Daily. You can contact us with information and we will then follow up and investigate. Please try and be courtious to each other, there's a reason we have so many members and it's because we are all amazing!
PCM.daily's Database Team just released the second update for their 2016 Database, containing even more features than the previous versions.
The most eyecatching feature is the addition of the 2016 route of the Giro d'Italia, just in time for you to play it while watching the Giro happening in real life! Next to that, there have been lots of graphical additions and a lot of stat changes from the classics.
Next to the update of the main database, they also released an update for their Variant DLC, with even more race variants added.
