Top5, within 30 seconds to the winners time, job done!
Gratz to Telkom! Great team efford making Brn Nasser a serious threat for the overall victory.
Nice ride by the Generali guys, too... pity Ulissi lost contact too early.
Thanks roturn, exciting way to present the TTT!

Someone is going to be happy with this after yesterday's TTT - congrats matt!
Clinging onto that Top 5 place on GC and only one stage left... Come on Alex!
Thanks for the report roturn
EDIT: Strange to see that my team is still riding on Specialized bikes. Did my equipment files not work correctly?

Thanks for the nice report roturn, Ulissi turning around the ship at last. Shit stage for us honestly, Roux dropped out hard there and we lose many points. At least Gilbert was strong enough to keep Top 10 but this still is super bad for us. Roux did a good race but actually, I think this was bound to happen Well, one more stage to go, maybe a good result in the end can save this race for us. Very disappointed overall with the points turnout tho. given the lil amount of teams some teams will leave this race with a real ton of points while others just totally missed the jackpot.

That was a very good stage for us. Obviously scary at the start with multiple riders including Barbin down but luckily no harm. Great job by Barbin winning the sprint for 2nd and taking the boni's. Also good job by the others making that main group now 15th-17th in GC plus Team classification. Hopefully we can hold on.

It was not long I could stay happy after Reimers success in Philadelphia...
Disaster. I´m glad for Matt that it went better for Ulissi then Bystrom in that crash... |

FUCKING NEAT FINALLY!
Best win ever for my team quite likely. Ulissi crashing, coming back in the group, then attacking, catching the head and winning solo with a huge margin totally makes up for Duo Differdange awesomeness wise. I swear I won't complain for at least 3 days!

Gratz matt, stunning win by Ulissi!
Guess it was a combination of +5 day + horse-like stamina + adrenaline rush from crash making Ulissi dominate the way he did.
Was a bad day for Vontobel as Barbin and Costa grabbing bonus seconds passing Di Maggio. At least he can take some risks the final day, next behind is already three minutes back.
Wyss, Hollenstein, Aregger also stayed bejond expectations... at least Kohler joining the break turned out a good move.
To sum it up: We still need to deliver tomorrow to make it a worthwile stay in South Africa. Last days break has a good chance to survive and we already applied for a ticket.

That's gotta be the biggest points lost on a single stage for us, really really disappointed in this performance Doubt we can make a comeback from this, but a podium is a must for us
Up on the horse again and hopefully better stuff tomorrow..

Gratz Matt, gotta be happy given that TTT.
Der in the break is nice, sneaking into the top 20 is great. Stachowiak securing the KOM lead is pretty big for us given my expectations here as well.
Thanks for the great report Roturn!

The perfect stage for us GC-wise! Dowsett finishes with the main bunch and Gaeten takes a podium and with it some valuable bonus seconds taken away from those who needed them to jump Alex.
Outstanding work from Dowsett to get a Top 5 in a C1 race - took a gamble on him at the start of the season and he has paid us back beautifully. Not sure on the points haul from the race, but I am expecting it to be good.
Congrats to matt for the GC victory with Ulissi and thanks roturn for the fantastic reports.

Meh, sucks to lose the GC on the 2nd last stage of a race, so leaves a bitter taste. This was the best chance for us to win a GC for sure, so a podium is quite good actually, but not good enough. Thanks for the great reports
Gratz to Ulissi, for finally making him worth his wage, which in a way also makes this a weird race looking at the season. Any hoots, back on the horse and hopefully we will get a GC this season somewhere else

Not stisfied with the outcome, though we had our bright moments (Aregger victory, TTT). When Ulissi rode like a killer, Di Maggio rode like an innocent bystander. And the rest of the team was far to inconsistent, to exploit the short startlist for the better.
Gratz to matt for the win and thanks for the entertaining reports, roturn!

Thanks guys! Second ever gc win for us after Slovenie last year and it's definitely a lot more satisfying.
Too bad we lost the points jersey at the last minute with Ben Nasser's win (awesome tour for aidan) but I can't complain as this should see us power our way to the rankings to 15.
Thanks for the great reports to roturn!

Congrats to Matt and Aidan for some fantastic tours! Also Bille rounding a huge tour for La Poste, so does the whole team Ferrero. Stachowiak winning the KOM is also surprisingly great for trekky. Shame for Hugo Boss this race though, Costa this time couldn't really live up to the expectations...

Congratz matt, nice to see Ulissi finally succeed!
Not really happy with how the race went though, Costa 6th here is really not optimal. Bilbao 9th is much better than what I thought he would do in the beginning, so much better that.
Thanks for all the solid work roturn!

Thanks guys! And kudos to Roturn for some smashing reporting.
What can I say? The only way this tour could've gotten better is if we had won overall! But that wouldn't be fair seeing Ullisi's awesome performance on stage 5.
What a ride in our home tour! We walk away with 2 stages and 2 jerseys (points/u25). So proud of the boys. Funnily enough, I remember doing Tour of SA in our first season and Louis was there too as a really young rider. He made 2 or 3 breaks, but would always get dropped. Now he finishes 11th overall and takes the u25 jersey! Pretty cool.
Let's quickly look at Ben Nasser's stage results (talk about Mr South Africa!):
- Stage 1: 5th
- Stage 2: 2nd
- Stage 3: 7th (flat stage)
- Stage 4: TTT win
- Stage 5: 5th
- Stage 6: 1st

Gratz to matt, the fears were unjustified this time, Generali with a quality set up. Same for Telkom. Strava with a very embarrasing showing. 10th is okay result but Modolo far below expectations as the best sprinter present next to Aregger and some solid hill skills, additionally no botd panache and Roux just crashing out of his top rank. At least Gilbert delivered when the tide was rising. Thanks for the swift constant quality reports roturn

Close to a 0 pts race for us but Bystrom with a 6th place on one stage and that we had the U25 jersey for some stages giving is some minor points.
I hoped we could save this race a little on the last stage with either Bystrom recoverd a bit and try a break or Hoogerland but no, no points there.
I had hopes for a top 10 by Bystrom and top 20 by Hoogerland it ended up with Hoogerland as best on 52nd....
But anyway thanks for the reports roturn!
And congrats matt for the win and aidan & danny for podium! |
