World Championships 2015 Discussion

I really don't get why people would want to get rid of top riders who didn't pan out or doped or even give big boosts to the irl studs who didn't turn out that way in MG.

Part of what makes MG interesting to me is that it isn't an entirely realistic or fantasy field of riders, but almost like an alternate universe based on how prospects were judged at the time.

First WC medal of the season, and it is a gold medal! Well done by Ricco and the Italians.

I would have liked Germany and France to do slightly better - Especially France.

Spilak certainly didn't use up a lot of energy here, let's hope he saved some virtual energy for the road race.

Solid silver in perhaps Plaza's last race as a decent quality cyclist. Smile

Pedraza medal, despite beeing dropped in the end! Grin

Disappointing from France, but congratulations to Italy on ending the joint Spanish-Dutch domination of the past. Colombia were also very impressive, while Russia disappointed.

Luis Leon Sanchez
I'm going to claim that Valls dragged the team up from 3rd to 2nd. Good silver for him!

Well to be fair, Colombia probably proved that climbers dominated the TTT over time trialists. Wink

Pozzovivo!! Cool

Nice to see Italy taking this one. Pozzovivo apparently worked hard and got dropped, but it's a medal anyway. If anyone is going to buy him next season, you better keep this in mind Wink

One rider from Swedbank in the TTT but he came in first in the team that was worst Cool

Super proud Dario Cataldo was crossing finish line the fastest and winning gold with the Italien TTT-team. He already had a great season at Vontobel and surely enjoyed the ride with his talented countrymen.

Best to say about World B from a Swiss perpective is that the team was dominating the remaining bunch. Remo Schuler did a good job staying in the midst of them.
Gratz to Lövkvist! If he had a trauma from barely not-winning Tour of America, it will be gone by now.

Thanks for the fine reports, trek and roturn!

Massive congrats to Italy and all the riders who took part!

Russia... what happened!

And Colombia (as mentioned previously by others) prove that Mountain stat does count with a course like this over TT stat

Surprising meltdown by russia, but the mountainous terrain very likely attributed to the failure. Nice to see Jakub Novak in the top 50ish in the B world championship although I was hoping for a little bit more

Cool TTT, funny to see Colombia with such a strong showing. Our guys in the Kazakh jersey did an okay race as well Smile

The Dutch domination ends! Italy too strong in the end, and God knows what happened to the Russians.

Thank you for the report, trekbmc!

Congrats to Italy and their riders, managers and selectors, eventhough it's kind of a pity to see Netherlands miss out on the gold and even the medals, thinking of their history.

13th place from Norway is very decent looking at the team here, no doubts the mountain and hill stat played a huge part, which makes it kind of a pity that a couple of the best climbers weren't selected by their managers.

True indeed, but now i am sad that you were not the only selector. Because i would laugh my ass off if you would select even those 54-55 mountain guys and Russia would come dead last or second from last. See Denmark with their only climber...or Ignatiev and Zmorka dropped from their teams, awell other top TTists without good climbing ability.

Ukraine also with rather weak result, but that had to be expected, overall bad race for eastern europe.

Congrats to Italy, which had an ideal setup. Colombia, wow. Smile
Thanks for the report trek!

I'll be back

The Rider
Nothing without Nazaret for Brazil as expected. Entertaining B world championships though: with Samwel lurking around the front for much of the race I thought he was in with a shout, attacked too far out I suppose. Nice win for Sweden though, cherry on the top of the cake of a good season for the Viking!

Italy with a controlling TTT win, a good omen for the RR perhaps. Contador a big help for a Spanish silver medal good to see after he hasn't raced in months.
