Oh come on, nobody is named after the #2. It's M. Van Kump!
Talk to me again when he's ahead of Demare in the rankings

Okay Reinhardt! A 2nd place finish is probably a lot more than I could have expected from this race with how deep this field is, so whatever happens now I should probably be content.

I'm very happy about Ulissi's stage 3 performance actually, clearly it's unlucky that he's the initiatior of these attacks so often, rather than just wheelsucking his way to the final sprint, which is supposed to be his biggest strength. I know, it feels weird to say that I'd rather have him be more passive, but in his case I'm sure it's understandable, as seeing him come short this often clearly wasn't the reason why I trained his sprint last season If he had more resistance actually I could imagine him having more energy to contest sprints better, but that's not the case.
10th/11th in S4 is about right knowing my riders' strengths compared to the rest of the TDU pack, but it's clearly a bit of a shame to see them just not gaining any points or time for these minor placements. This was the last chance for Theuns to pick up any valuable points here, with stage 6 which will just see the usual break win, so his 2017 TDU is done and dusted and just as mediocre as his 2016 one. Shame.
Thanks roturn and commiserations Croatia for this awful Tour Down Under of yours

What a race for Isostar so far. Already looks like it was a great decision to train Kump's SP. My former rider () Mohoric also having a solid race. Could be a huge confidence booster to start the season for the team!

Isostar's terrible time continues In all seriousness though amazing to see Kump hang onto top 5 GC and red and Mohoric to be in the top 10 and in white (hope for no stage 6 BS) and also leading teams! Thanks for another great report roturn, and congrats to jaxika on Di Maggio's win.

That was a weird queen stage in some matters.
But great result for our neighbor in Finland, congrats Valio! |

Damn it, damn it, damn it... So damn close to winning the GC, but guess that Orange will probably take their most surprising win of the season, as I think Sicard could take a few GC's, too. So a very scary team for sure.
2nd place is also good though, as other teams have been very unlucky this race and we have virtually been unharmed by this. And Di Maggio really setting a thick line under how much this route fits his stats, where other races he has a hard time doing Top 10's.
Hope that we can start and end with a stage win tomorrow and our point host in our first race of the season should be quite good.

Well, Di Maggio sure loves this race. Very happy with the performance from Watson, just a small pity that he couldn't move up in the GC. But given I was hoping for a top 15 going into the race, I'll have to say we are satisfied if it stays like this (though, since it's s.t, I'd love to see Watson getting amongst the sprinters tomorrow ). Bummer of a stage to be honest, but good to be included in BOTD again. Thanks for the quality report, roturn

I like the race. Valio with a good race with Gautier constantly around the bests and Isostar also with a huge race. Kump and Mohoric defending their places by finishing in the first group and even Jans is still inside the top 20

Uhhh we have had a much worse race than Isostar I think we're gonna relegate
Ridiculous how much a bad form can affect a rider, damn, this had to be what, a -5 or something? Because I can't imagine Ulissi being that bad otherwise. We're gonna have to move ahead bitterly and hope this has just been a false start. Good he still managed to score a top 10 and that we have a few riders in the top 25, but this could have been so much better. Tanovitchii crashed out, Lavery injured, Ulissi with awful fucking form... sigh.
Thanks roturn

Really like the way PCM has treated this race this year being open for punchy sprinters and aside from a few exceptions good racing.
Otherwise it's kinda fun to see Di Maggio doing well, gratz jaxika!
Isostar is having a really terrible race. Kump securing the top 5 by being right up there (or even better if he could get some bonus seconds) and Mohoric 10th as well as 2 jerseys, fun to see.
Shame for Generalli with Ullisi btw, what was that about?
Finally, Thanks for the fantastic report Roturn!

Couple good decent stages for us after stage 2. Walker showed why he's in the team on both stage 3 and 5. KoM is nice reward for his attacks especially on stage 3 where he managed to stay with the big guns until the sprint. Shame he waited on stage 1..
Modolo also very strong on the hilly stages which is a good sign. 12th is decent considering the hilly stats of the guys around him. The great back ups clearly help him, especially the 81 acc which showed on Willunga. The sprint on stage 4 was balsy but that is needed to win straight up against the stronger Kump. (PCM logic apparently did not think it was a good idea to try another leadout ) 12th now in GC but maybe with top 3 on the final stage he jumps into top 10.

Kraftwerk teamwork was fantastic but Flügel just didn't have the legs to finish it off, top 5 goal missed
Congrats to Jaxika and thanks for another great and fast report from roturn.
Time for Cav to save our race.
