Chrono des Herbiers
ProTour Classic
I think the best sum it up the best with contre-la-montre - against the clock. Chrono des Herbier is an ITT back in the PT calendar for its ninth edition. Former winners have been the best in their discipline over the years, and as we saw last year, if you are not on it from the off, it will be a long day in the saddle.
The Favourites
| FL | TT | STA | | | FL | TT | STA | Phinney | 73 | 83 | 77 | | Howson | 71 | 80 | 73 | Coppel | 77 | 83 | 78 | | Sergent | 79 | 80 | 69 | Zmorka | 74 | 82 | 74 | | Ignatiev | 80 | 80 | 81 | Keizer | 72 | 81 | 75 | | Viennet | 72 | 80 | 75 | Durbridge | 73 | 81 | 73 | | Sütterlin | 71 | 80 | 73 | Ford | 63 | 81 | 66 | | Mottin | 69 | 79 | 67 | Vlatos | 72 | 81 | 73 | | Martin | 74 | 79 | 75 | Kittel | 75 | 81 | 74 | | Dempster | 74 | 79 | 71 |
Clear favourite for the race is Taylor Phinney. The strongest on the startlist, and will be spurred on by last year's disappointment. Pushing him all the way will be Jerome Coppel (winner 2012 & 2014), World U23 Bronze medalist Marlen Zmorka (defending champion) and Martijn Keizer. All have the ability to take a victory and will no doubt be disappointed with anything but that.
Mikhail Ignatiev showed good form recently in the Milano - San Remo, as did Tony Martin, who spent his day in the breakaway. Australian pair of Luke Durbridge and Michael Ford will be keen to perform for Jayco'z, whilst Panagiotis Vlatos will be wanting to get one over his team-mate Coppel.
With so much fire power in one race, there is going to be one thing for certain - someone will be left disappointed at the end of the day, as their rider 'pulls a Phinney!'

Well, we probably won't win it, but intesify our TT-experience and show the Swiss champions colours.
Thanks for the preview, the_hoyle!

Hopefully Tay Tay as he is now know in the American media can put aside all of the off season bad press and help himself to at least a top 3 |

Flatnose has never won this I am backing RoboCopp to take it for the third time.
I feel this race should be renamed Chrono des Red Bull in honour of our domination of race (last years farce should be struck of record list).

I'm picking a reasonably unexpected winner for this one. Viennet or Sutterlin? You never know with PCM TT AI
Nice preview hoyle!

This TT is at least 40 km too long for my team. My goal is to avoid a 0-pter which isnt too unrealistic when looking at the points file
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Jugding by the timetrials this year already, I wont be surprised to see an odd top 5. Still backing Phinney for a win here to kickstart his season though

Fresh off a win in Paris-Nice it'd be nice if Viennet could go top-5, but that's probably too much to ask for. Fingers crossed |

After his poor TT in Qatar hopefully Sergent gets lucky this time and starts to justify his transfer fee. |

Top 10 seems impossible, top 20 would be nice. My money is on Coppel.

Coppel really should win this, and there's not much excuse for not doing so.

Phinney?
I would be very surprised if Coppel won this... But atleast I have two top riders here to gamble with, so anything less than a podium would be devastating.

Phinney is indeed the biggest favourite, as it seems that only two stats are concerned for the TT and he is just slightly better when you count (pun not intended) ACC+TT together.
But basically anyone from 81-83 guys can win i guess, with best dice roll.
For us, it is one of the most anticipated races, with three top15 favourites. We would like to have those three in top15, two in top10 and one guy on a podium. Some tough goals, but we need to be successful here.

I fancy Coppel for the win, at least I put some MG fantasy money on him. He's riding on home soil after all. On the other hand, Zmorka proved last year that more riders than the top few have a fair shot at the win here, and it will be interesting to see if any of the 80/81 TT riders can challenge for the win.
For us, a top half placing from Stake Laengen feels like an ambitious goal. |
