Moving time again
News

Updated: Move delayed to Monday.

PCM.daily will go through yet another server move within the next few days. Hopefully, this will be the last one in a while (years...) - and this time, I feel quite convinced that it's actually going to turn out great.

In short, we'll be moving to a server that's a lot like the one we stayed at before the problems began - and we'll be "living" alongside another site that's very much like PCM.daily visitor-wise - so that's promising.

We've also had the opportunity of testing PCM.daily at the new server for the past day and have used the time to iron out some issues like the weird characters, the missing Twitter button and the fact that we couldn't add new files to the download section.

We'll continue to test the site before making the final move this weekend.

Move completed
News

Welcome back to PCM.daily and yet another new server.

We're planning to stay here for more than just a couple weeks which the previous server lasted, but in the end it depends on how well we can get everything running here - and whether the provider stays in business :-)

As on the previous server, we're starting with a few quirks:
- No downloads for PCM06-PCM08
- Stage DB isn't functional
- Some content is missing from the content panel
- No Twitter code
- Some characters are showing up incorrectly

The tracked threads function should be working again, as well as password recovery and everything else mail-related.

Speed wise, it's not looking as well as I had hoped. Some threads still do have long load times, even when it's just me testing with no one else on the site. However, this can probably be fixed by optimization, and it's something we're looking in to.

Edit: Now that we're live, load times seem to range between 8 and 20 seconds. Obviously, that's about 19 seconds too much. I've raised this issue with the server owner who will be looking into the issue.

If you stumble upon anything else, let us know.

Update on server issues
News

Update: The server move is planned to take place the night between Friday and Saturday.

It's been a rough start to the day for PCM.daily. At first, the site wasn't accessible at all, and once that had been rectified, parts of the database crashed. Both issues were easily fixable, but wasn't discovered by the server admins (that'd be me and AaB-ern... oops) until hours after the issues had appeared.

On the subject of servers - as revealed in the forum yesterday, another server move is planned to take place this week. This should take care of the issues we have experienced since moving 1-2 weeks ago - including the speed / loading, e-mails not getting through, Twitter functionality etc.

PCM.daily is back on new server
News

It took a while to get us back on track, but now that everything (well, mostly everything) seems to be working, we're glad to welcome everyone back to PCM.daily.

Setting up a server isn't really all that easy when you have no knowledge on Linux at all. It turned out to be more of an issue that we had expected.

Luckily for us, Christer got us in contact with Olav Lindekleiv from Lindekleiv Multimedia who in a few hours managed to undo the things we had messed up and get the site working again. A huge thank you should be sent in that direction.

There's still some minor things to do, especially opmitisation. It's going to be interesting to see how the site deals with pressure / load from you, the members, but either way, we'll try to speed things up over the next few days and fix whatever's not working.

If you stumble upon a non functioning feature or anything else in that regard, please leave a comment below.

Weekly News #83
Weekly News

I gotta say. The title of this news is very misleading. Anyway here comes the news.

PCM.Daily DB 2013

With 2013 looming closer and closer, it's time to begin working on our 2013 DB. With the help of zmiguel91, most of the 2013 palmares has been finished and what remains is to replace name of the riders and the races into ID's that PCM can recognise. From stats point of view, work has also begun here and if you wish to help with any Continental teams, please contact me via PM. Meanwhile, Luigi will slowly begin updating transfers, adding new riders etc. We'll keep you updated on the progress.

PCMFreaks 2006 DB

There haven't been great number of historical DB's comapred to previous years. But I think we struck gold with this one. Packed with excting features this DB will move us back in time to year 2006, with all the teams, realistic stats, 2006 race calendar, real Tour de France 2006 route, 100 variants and many graphical changes along much more, this promises to be one quality DB. Check out all the features, pictures and videos released here.

DLC's Released for Console Versions

As reported by TheManxMissile, Cyanide published 2 new DLC's. First DLC is simply an updated DB wchich updates the riders’ characteristics according to their performance in the real Tour de France 2012. Second DLC will let you race beyond Tour de France and adds Critérium du Dauphiné to your gaming experience. More info about DLC's can be found here.

PCM.Daily Thriving with new stories, fantasy games and Man-Game

We're in the off - season in cycling, and I guess that would mean the forum and our site go slightly quiet for few months till January and the opening of the season. It's not the case with this great community fortunately ! With plenty of new stories and already existing ones running. Ian Butler's Dejaeghere Inc. began yesterday and already looks very promising. Roturn's Ryan Eastaman begins his 2nd season at Bontrager meanwhile Pellizotti2 La Pomme Marseille is slowly coming to first season end. All are great and worth checking out, and there's plenty more in our Stories section with same quality!

There's been an influx of new fantasy games as well. Manx's Fantasy Season standing out and looking very intresting to follow even if you don't have a team at present. Meanwhile PCM.Daily's main fantasy game, the Man-Game, each day looming closer to the decision of season's goals, renewal period and consequently - transfers.

That's all in the weekly news. Hope you enjoyed it and see you back next time ;)
