It's here! PCM.daily's 2013 DB released
Oh, are you already up? Well, that's great - we have a reward for you: PCM.daily's 2013 DB!
The rather extensive list of features was released a couple of days ago, so there's really not much reason to go into details of the 96 teams, the 63 new races, the hundreds and hundreds selectable equipment parts or any of the other great features that's hiding in PCM.daily's 2013 DB.
Keep in mind that this first release is an update that requires quite a lot of previous downloads (Exp Pack 1300, Exp Pack 1400 and 2013 DB Public Beta).
That's not much of an issue for "faithful" PCM.daily DB users, but if you're new to the world of PCM.daily DBs, it's recommended to wait for the full package that will released Wednesday evening.
Update: The file has been packed and is being uploaded. This will be done over night, and the release is therefore pushed to Wednesday morning / afternoon.
While we're making the final changes to the final version of our 2013 DB, we thought it'd be nice to let you know what you're actually waiting for.
As mentioned here and there, the final V1 is not simply a database with bug corrections from the Public Beta. Lluuiiggii has been working hard the last two weeks, and that's amounted to a lot of great additions.
First of all, there's seven new teams to play with, bringing the total to 98. 58 of these are using 2013 graphics. You also get 13 new races compared to the Public Beta along with even more new race routes - in fact, all three Grand Tours now have its 2013 variant. And speaking of variants - well, there's now even more of them. For GTs alone, there's now 29 different race routes.
Among the features I'm pretty sure you will only find in the PCM.daily DB is that ALL secondary sponsors now have its very own set of graphics. If, for example, Saxo Bank withdraws and Tinkoff Bank remains as the sole sponsor, the team will switch to Tinkoff jerseys rather than continuing to use the Saxo Tinkoff jersey. As said, this goes for all co-sponsors in the game.
We've also finally decided to include preview pictures of all the selectable equipment in the database - so now you know what your team will look like before hitting the roads.
Release? We're making the final polishments. For example, we're recreating some of those 2013 Tour de France stages that lagged due to enormeous amount of water. We're also hoping to include the 2013 equipment that's set to be released Monday.
We believe it will be worth a few days of wait - and we hope to release PCM.daily's 2013 DB on Tuesday at the latest.
While you've been enjoying the 2013 DB Preview Edition that we released in January, we've been working hard on improving and adding more stuff to this year's PCM.daily Database.
Now we've reached a point where it's about time to show you the result. Later today, we will be releasing the Public Beta of the 2013 DB - and next weekend, it's time for the final version.
In the Public Beta you will find 91 teams with updated rosters - 44 of these have 2013 graphics. We've been adding lots of new equipment, new race routes for nine more races (bringing the total to 19) - and there's also nine more races to fool around in.
Some of you will be surprised to see that we've finally decided to abandon the old flags that's been a part of the PCM.daily DB for a lifetime and instead went with Zecha's flags. And speaking of graphics, you will also find 1.000 new rider pictures, most of which are from 2013.
Lastly, we have also done some minor, yet important DB-work. Some AI race programs have been rewritten to make AI teams smarter when choosing their preparation races. This is especially relevant for the Vuelta which many members have dubbed 'the easiest GT to win'. It may still be, but not to the same extent as before this release.
We have more up in the sleeve for the final V1 which, as said, will be released in about a week from now. However, we'd appreciate if you gave this Public Beta a try, so we can get rid of any bugs that may have found its way to the DB.
The Public Beta is being packed now and will then be uploaded to several mirrors. We expect to release the links tonight.
You have waited, waited - and perhaps waited a bit more than you should. But now, we're ready to announce the creme de la creme of PCM.daily Members in the year of 2012.
We had 26 awards this year, divided into three categories: Cycling Awards, Management Game Awards and Site Awards. In total, you pressed the vote button no less than 2,416 times - but despite that, some awards ended up very close with several being a tie.
With those facts, it's time to reveal the winners. Drum roll, please... (and click Read More to find out who won).
Can't wait to see what life is like with Katusha as a Pro Continental team and Argos among the big boys? Wondering whether Wiggins is capable of defending his Tour de France title with Contador and Schleck back in the field - on a route that suits him worse?
Well, while this is far from the final release, PCM.daily's first edition of its 2013 DB, the so-called Preview, gives you the possibility of playing with the new teams and riders on 10 new 2013 race routes.
A lot of work is still going on behind the scenes, but we thought you'd appreciate a sneak peak of what's coming. This Preview Edition contains the following:
- 2013 graphics for 25 teams - 2013 profiles for 10 races - most notably the Giro, Tour de France, Tour de Romandie and Tour Down Under - Updated Palmares for WT and HC races of 2012 - Real profiles for more races
... among all the other features you know from the PCM.daily Databases. However, you're missing out on updated stats (minor corrections have been done, but a major stat update is planned for later), equipment (has barely been touched since latest release) and obviously all the great shirts and stages that's going to be released in the coming days.
