With October rapidly approaching, it's time to select a route for the season's grand finale, the World Championship.
History:
2017: Hill
2016: Cobbles
2015: Mountain
2014: Flat
2013: Hill
2012: Cobbles
2011: Hill
2010: Mountain
2009: Hill (Flat finish)
2008: Hill
Vote on exact location/route will follow once there is a clear winner here. Please nominate suggestions for routes in this thread.
Generally the ITT and TTT routes will match the RR course.

I'm interested in voting flat but only a FL/HI scenario - no way do I want a pure flat WC tbh I think there should always be some elements of hills and so I won't vote flat yet until this is confirmed.
If I can be so bold as to suggest a game change and a route, Leon40's New York (in PCM18) fits the bil, it's an amazing stage with great AI in PCM18 and it's absolutely stunning IB creation from Leon as is no surprise. I think with a DB readily available for us on PCM18, a FL-HI profile and one of the best graphical city stages in PCM history, it should be the route.
Either way due to the huge advancements in AI in general and specifically WC getting better more realistic AI in PCM18 I think we should play the WC on 18 anyway.

Medium Mountain? Like not full alpine style climbs (a la 2010 + 2015) but in that middle ground like you can find in the Voges or Massif Centrale, so closer to the profile of the 2011 race.
So vote wise, Mountain but only because Hill isn't possible as a direct vote.

Personally I'd like an IJsselmeer style race, flat but with hard winds and perhaps 300km or so to make it more brutal. Would be nice for a change.

Either a windy lumpy flat one or a long distance hilly one.
Or finally Aleko Vitosa

Flat with a terrain to keep the strongmen interested.

Flat but with crosswinds, a small amount of cobbles and hills to make things more interesting. Something like Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Not really. We're yet to set the teams and announce a route. So I guess it'll take a while.

I dont particularly care about which terrain (and hence didnt cast a vote) but i dont want to see a race purely for any specialists. So based on the options, one of these would be cool:
- semi mountainous with a flat finish. think rio road race
- flat with some hills on the parcour, flat finish, maybe crosswinds too
- flat with a couple shorter cobble sections
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Sure there's a minor cobbled/hill one out there for that option.
For the flat but for strongmen/some hills option as I have said already I think New York, apart from being an insanely amazing stage from Leon40, is also a very cool profile which PCM18 treats very well.
Full Gallery of the amazing graphical work
None of these hills are walls, highest gradient I saw was a brief 7.6%.
Obviously don't want to give too much away in terms of what results happen but it's something for sprinters and strongmen, leaning towards the former with reduced bunch sprints after aggressive races the usual outcome. I have, though, seen late attackers play beautiful tactics to spring out of the attacks (as in PCM18 the WC AI is vastly improved to see attacks from further out as in real life, and the better AI in general sees strongmen attack this kind of profile) and reduced group sprints as well in my experience testing this stage with real and MG databases. There is plenty of attacking and tactical play from the tough sprinters, roleurs, puncheurs, classics riders and strongmen, selection over the constant bumps, whilst the sprinters try and navigate the action to be there in the final kilometre. Every playthrough is entertaining in my experience. It offers chances to a wider range of rider than any previous profile, and yet it may also offer up the most deserving winner.
A very interesting profile which offers something to the strongmen and will make a sprinter earn his rainbow jersey, combined with the staggeringly better WC Ai in PCM18, mean this will be one of the best possible races we can have on top of being one of the most detailed and graphically stunning PCM stages in existence |

While this IB created town is hugely impressive, I experienced a lot of negatives with those as well, e.g. crashes or lacking graphics with pretty good systems as well.
So it should be route/profile first and then graphics second as there is barely anything more frustrating than a late stage crash or podium crash. In especially for those that make lots of notes or even full report writings while playing the stage.
And all those more specific routes will only come after the first vague selection anyway. |

Very true of course and open to other routes I wouldn't have posted in favour of it if it wasn't a great profile as well though
Guessing it's Americas or (finally) Oceania?

Just as a note, since it's been mentioned a bit: I will include yellow cobbles as an option if a flat race is chosen. Obviously not too many cobbles though.

Seeing the recent rotation, voted for flat, as seems to be time. Some interest with a litlle bit of undulation, or wind or minor cobbles to provide some spice and present a true batte between the sprinters and flat-beasts would be cool, but obviously difficult balance to achieve!
