Barbados Cycling Festival
Welcome to the inaugural Barbados Cycling Festival, or, as I like to call it and think is a much better name, the Barbados Bicycling Bonanza. Four flat stages in the lovely Carribean Island which - fun fact - is no more than 34km wide at any point. Riders must get pretty bored of all those samey roads.

A massive sprint startlist here in Barbados - clearly these overpaid prima donnas enjoying the idea of a nearly climb-free safe space in the sun and some tax free shopping. Not a load to say race-wise because this race is so b̶o̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ open, but I'll try.
Lo Cicero is the big name in sprinting but Il Toro is not enjoying the dominance of 2016. A win here is no less than his skills should earn him, and would redeem himself - and be a big step for Valio's relegation fight. His direct rival, really, is a very capable sprinter himself, if not quite as fast as Lo Cicero, Vantomme. A big battle in the relegation war.
A success story this year has been the double act of Fablok's Mohs and Guardini. When they get their egos in check and co-ordinate their leadout they're lethal. I say egos, because when the leadout get's jealous this happens.
Bitter, me?
Other major contenders include Guerao, who's having a great season, and the Manx Missile himself, Cavendish. There's so many riders here who could easily take the GC, and every second counts with the top 10 riders all receiving bonuses. Consistency is key, which could be a drawback for the likes of Maksimov or Van Heerden.
Because this race is so b̶o̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ open that n̶o̶b̶o̶d̶y̶ ̶h̶a̶d̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶ ̶m̶o̶t̶i̶v̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶r̶e̶p̶o̶r̶t̶ ̶i̶t̶ we just had to share the joy, reporting duties are split between AbhishekLFC and myself here |

Our final race, Vantomme still hasn't got a win this season, but he got 2 and 2nd place GC in the very similar Solidarnosc last year.
I don't care about wins this time around though, the goal is to limit losses to Lo Cicero and protect our spot in the standings.
Thanks for the preview Jandal, looking forward to the split reports!

This race truely is very much open and I think the sprinters prefer to have their race here, if the alternative is Poland.
I hope Guerao finds back to his early season form and won't perform like at the Baltic Chain Tour, where he was really pathetic with no top 10. If he does that I'm confident we can have a successful race. |

In Souper Soupe we have little chance of really affecting things, so hopefully we will see our guys getting on the attack and helping a breakaway stay clear.
Plus we'll enjoy the sunshine at our "home" race

Hope Rowe can fight for a top 10. His problem earlier in the season has been his positioning, often "winning" the sprint behind the 10-12 riders that pull clear in the leadout. Hopefully he can be a bit closer now, and edge inside the top 10 a couple of times. Stage 3 probably our best chance.
Other than that, attack, attack, attack. Would be surprised to see the break making (at least with a gap) on some of the stages, but with bonus seconds and KoM on offer, I hope to see our team on the offensive here.
Super interesting race. For the title contenders, I don't see us or Berg scoring really big. But what a race for the fifth spot, with Mohs/Guardini, Kennaugh and Maksimov all being here.
Same for the bottom, where Lo Cicero really needs to find his legs again and with Vantomme (and Vanoverschelde and perhaps even Bouhanni) needing to have a good performance as well.
Should really be interesting this one!

Let's go Holloway. 12th in the GC is what'll probably happen, top-10 GC would be nice to achieve. Not that we're really racing for anything anymore except individual race honor

Appo's last race if I remember correctly. He was really good earlier in the year and has dropped off in performance considerably since. I hope he can get us a few points here at least.

Time for Lo Cicero to live up to his status. Four stage wins and what follows would be a nice help in the relegation battle...

Maksimov has a chance to cap one of his best seasons in the man-game (pointwise) with a good outing here. Consistency will be key.

Penultimate race of the season and as it has been happening in the last, I do not see the team capable of doing great things in this race.
Still Silvestre should and must be able to get at least some top10 of stages and top10 in the final GC, otherwise this race will be a disaster.

No pressure on Van Der Sande, but it is all on him to make us avoid being relegated without any dignity...

The most disappointing part is that after asking for our riders to join the breakaway in every single race, they join it when we actually have a leader who needs to win.
Bouhanni first, Vanoverschelde 2nd...
Thanks for the report Abhishek.

MOL with a late surge for survival? The favourites missing out quite badly, especially Lo Cicero all the way down in 17th place.
Have to admit, seeing Bouhanni and Vanoverschelde top two, I do wonder when it's going (if probably) to be Rowe's time to do something similar. Yet again he missed out on the first 15 riders breaking clear with the leadout. A bit frustrating that. Hopefully he can do bettter on the coming stages. Now that it also matters with bonus seconds and KoM, I hope to see us in the break the coming stages.
