Tour d'Andorra
HC Stage Race
A climber's paradise, a sprinter's hell! Welcome to the 2016 Tour d'Andorra. Five stages in total, all classified as high mountain stages, with a MTT coming on Stage 4.
With three MTF in the race, the queen stage will come on the final Stage 5, where the peleton will tackle nine ascents before a final climb to the finish.
The Favourites
| Mo | TT | Acc | | | Mo | TT | Acc | Amador | 84 | 78 | 72 | | Ratiy | 80 | 74 | 58 | Machado | 84 | 74 | 72 | | Kiserlovski | 80 | 72 | 66 | Denifl | 84 | 72 | 65 | | Marquez | 80 | 70 | 80 | Úran | 82 | 78 | 71 | | Ji | 80 | 69 | 65 | Intxausti | 82 | 77 | 70 | | Nazaret | 80 | 65 | 72 | Contador | 81 | 73 | 68 | | Valls | 79 | 72 | 72 | Monsalve | 81 | 72 | 73 | | Talansky | 79 | 72 | 69 | Berhane | 81 | 65 | 68 | | Pozzovivo | 79 | 71 | 72 | Brajkovic | 80 | 77 | 71 | | Moschella | 79 | 69 | 62 | Duarte | 80 | 75 | 73 | | Brenes | 79 | 69 | 70 |
Defending champion Martijn Keizer isn't present on the startlist, and neither are former winners Domenico Pozzovivo and Andrew Bajadali, so it will be a new name on the race palmares.
Andrei Amador, Tiago Machado (2nd on GC in 2015) and Stefan Denifl will be big favourites for the title, all excelling in the Mountains with a steady TT rating to keep them at the top. Behind them, Rigoberto Úran and Beñat Intxausti (5th on GC in 2014)will no doubt be pushing them all the way.
A very strong startlist, which also includes Contador (4th on GC in 2015) and Brajkovic (2nd on GC in 2014), along with Monsalve, Ratiy and Duarte.
One rider who will not be hoping that the MTT will have any deciding factor will be Natnael Berhane. His low TT ability will force him to go on the attack on the climbs and put as much time into his rivals as possible. A similar tale might befall Jianhua Ji and Magno Nazaret as well.

Well that was a well-researched preview.
Would love for us to get Contador in the top 6 here and some good showings in multiple stages. The terrain is there for some exciting racing, hope we get it. |

Every Mountain race is too crowded I thought we sent a decent team, but we are in the bottom row, doesn't bode well.

Nice preview! I've been looking forward to this one, it's a great race. I have it as a win goal, but if I can't pick Amador for the win I'll say Machado.

Way too hard to find a winner here. Would naturally think Amador but it'll depend on daily form between the big three and Uran I think. Thanks for the preview!

Way to strong field Will be quite happy if Monsalve can sneak in a top 5 here. Most team with a strong climber probobly selected this HC group just for this race...

Last year when Keizer took the win by riding most consistent, it was the first ever team stage race win in 4 years.
So have a nice memory of that race. So looking forward to this event and hopefully those teams that need the points the most will get them.
Monsalve would be a nice rider to take it as he had far too much bad luck with positioning already. Though Amador and Machado are most likely to take the win here I think. |

One of those races I would love to ride in the future. But it is evident that we need to look at the HC availability for PT teams. Pokerstars and Tinkoff are fill here. A rider of 80MO would be interesting, otherwise it's mainly a waste of time for PT teams to send riders here - And even then it would be a gamble in terms of racedays.

This season needs more breakaway bugs. Now would be a good time.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Not good from Ji at all, but Shirota getting in the break and ending the day in the polka dots is a nice accomplishment.

Great report and congrats to Gustavo on the sprint win
Only mention for my guys is Ratto's shameful OTL, but basically all my team is filler anyway

Good to see that Valls managed to stay in the leading group of riders which sets him up nicely for stage 2.

Nice start for Brajkovic here. Achieving our goal will be hard, but it would be great if he could make the top-5.
