Hanko Classic
A new C2 sprinters' classic on the schedule: not much more to see say about the Hanko Classic. This race in Finland features a panflat course, that obviously is made for the fastest men in the field.
We've seen roleurs and breakaways winning flat classics before, so of course there's still some thrill be to be expected.
The Startlist
The Favorites Sprinters | FL | SP | AC | Roleurs | FL | ST | FI | Thorsen | 61 | 82 | 85 | Stoltz | 78 | 66 | 85 | Richeze | 73 | 80 | 79 | Sørensen | 75 | 67 | 81 | Lavoine | 73 | 80 | 78 | Barredo | 73 | 72 | 81 | Forero | 71 | 80 | 75 | Mironov | 73 | 71 | 80 | Peeters | 72 | 79 | 77 | Østergaard | 74 | 76 | 78 | Vanderaerden | 72 | 79 | 75 | Kuznetsov | 76 | 75 | 76 | Mezgec | 71 | 79 | 77 | Bayly | 71 | 70 | 76 | Hochmann | 70 | 79 | 80 | Reckweg | 76 | 76 | 75 | Hutarovich | 71 | 78 | 80 | Stachowiak | 73 | 71 | 75 | Kruopis | 73 | 78 | 77 | Rosseler | 73 | 70 | 75 | Sobota | 72 | 78 | 78 | Pineau | 72 | 69 | 75 | Moser | 70 | 78 | 77 | Mahdar | 70 | 73 | 75 | Westling | 70 | 78 | 74 | Sagan | 75 | 73 | 74 | Volikakis | 65 | 78 | 82 | Ratto | 79 | 74 | 55 | Rasmussen | 72 | 77 | 79 | Taillefour | 77 | 70 | 59 |
The CT's best sprinters are here - at least most of them: Thorsen as the fastest, though it may be questioned, whether this long race will hurt his chances. Belarusbank is still lining up with a very strong support squad, so even a fail from Thorsen may see this team amongst the best.
Of course we should consider Richeze, Lavoine or Forero as real threats, too. Richeze and Lavoine both enjoy a pretty good season, while Forero has yet to deliver on a consistent base. Why not start here? Peeters/Pelucchi, Vanderaerden, Mezgec, Hochmann, Kruopis, Sobota or Rasmussen - they all can pull a good sprint here. Especially Sobota has had some surprisingly strong results this year.
If we consider roleurs a threat, too, we may have to watch out for some more contenders: Stoltz, Sorensen, Barredo, Ostergaard or Ratto (if he decides to not help Moser) and Taillefour as some strong men on the flat.

Pelucchi-Peeters for the win! In Mexico Peeters was doing better then we're used to and we even saw a sprint train form in one stage, we can do this!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Hopefully Kuznetsov goes for a late attack again like in Frankfurt. Not very much confidence for Hochmann who has been performing quite badly so far this season.
Also cool to see one of my own races return in the MG

As in every flat classic, I'm expecting nothing.
So basically: Moser underperforms and gets terribly out of top 10 while Ratto and Taillefour are as useful as a fork in a cup of tea.
Thanks for the preview tsmoha, expecting Thorsen to win this one after he proved he can actually win stages longer than 50 kms.

Love how Sobota gets a special mention this time, he seems to be able to always pick the winning sprint train and turns it into a top 5, his my favourite rider on my team at the moment (despite Der and Pierzga having victories) but hopefully he can take a win in the closest race to his home that he has a chance in.
Otherwise maybe a break?

Lavoine with a good chance to win his first classic
He got 4th in Frankfurt, but the hills took away his chance to win I think. Hanko is our best bet of a classic win, so let's not waste that opportunity

Hoping for a miracle here, but seeing that the AI have made Dahlberg captain instead of my fastest man on a route like this, Westling, doesn't make me too optimistic.
Still Westling came through in my flat race win goal last year - his only good day all season, so I'll keep dreaming for a tiny bit longer.

Another nothing race for us, will enjoy it when it's over.
That said, thinking we'll be seeing an Argentinian winner!

Razzie is on good form, and he has the whole power team here, though he won't use it. hoping to have somebody int he break and Razzie to get a top 10.

Lavoine was annoyingly close and Hutarovich really overperformed here :/
Still 2nd is fine and Lavoine might be one of the best deals in the Transfer Season after all
Thanks for the report and also weird that the game chose to have one train :/

How hard is it to set up a train, really? I think Dabkowski-Peeters-Pelucchi would be an excellent train in the CT, but for some reason only one of them wants to come to the front, I just don't get it.
Anyway, thanks for the report

I didn't expect it at all!!!
Congrats Ste, close miss once again for Fablok and Lavoine in a classic
Great report tsmoha!
