GP Oudenaarde Discussion
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/gp_oudenaarde.jpg

The GP Oudenaarde might be the Ronde Van Vlaanderen for the CT teams. 239km of length and 8 huge Hellingen. And actually it`s one of the hardest section of the Ronde with the Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg being ridden 8 times in a row. Other than that circuit on the 2nd race half, it`s pretty flat and should not lead to problems.

The cobbled field in the CT division is obviously not that strong but still we have a nice list of good cobblers. The best are actually very close together, so it could become a very exciting race:

So we have 3 teams that should try to control the race with Lierse, Risa and Carlsberg. But none of their riders is as good a sprinter as the weaker cobblers, so making the race hard is necessary.

TomTom with Lebris, Evonik with Dupont/Saramotins, Live Nation with Lovassy, Azteca with Farrar, Dell with Young, Chiquita with Rathe and Vontobel with Tronet have options for a possible sprint finish and might wait a bit to relax out of the wind.

Big outside favourites are Roulston and Takenouchi, who are not much weaker cobblers than the top trio but with a weaker team around them.

Could be an interesting race.
Hoping for an elite group at the line. We could potentially pick up a win then, since every other 73+ cobbler can't sprint for shit Pfft

Also, I'm glad it's flat-rated.

Would be very disapointed if we fail to make the podium here. Should suit Kenny well.

I'm not really thrilled about Farrar's chances, but if he can somehow survive he should be the best sprinter here by quite a bit.

If I don't get has podium I would be very disappointed. This is where my team has to step up.

With both Saramotins and Dupont here I cannot do anything but cheer for a mass sprint. I consider Saramotins as the better option but who knows...

(Looking forward to see if Stoltz will try anything.)

In overall, it should be a very close race as there are no stand out favourites and everything seems possible.

Hoping for a good result from Hamilton here, since he's the best puncher (who can cobble) here, and has a high fighter stat to make use of that. But knowing PCM, he'll stay in the field, and probably won't be our best placed rider.

Tough to guess how seasons first cobbled classic will pan out.
Even though Michael Schär's form wasn't at it's best lastly, his allround skills makes him the better contender for us. Think that almost 240 km (barely flat rated) will thin out the bunch significantly.
I'm really curious about the report!

This could really turn out in many ways. Hopefully Lovassy will be able to get to the line in a good position to hosw his strong sprinting skills.

I am just hoping for a breakaway win here from my not so cobbled team.

Wow Evonik...

And someone please check Sutherland on doping... First that ridiculously strong time trial and now this...

Accurate prediction is accurate.

I can't really be happy with a third place when we needed to win, but yeah, good report otherwise Wink

Good report.

Nice to see the team represented in the break as well as with 2 riders in the final top 20. Especially since one of them is my young Finnish cobbles-talent Olli Kulppi!

Very disappointing result. This is what my team was built for. If they can't deliver in cobbles, we can't deliver anywhere. Frown

Thanks for the great report Roturn!

Takenouchi with another strong race for us, 4th is a great result and certainly justifies his place in the team at just a 50k wage very pleased! Grin

Now I should update my team HQ pretty soon Wink

Gratz to Evonik, was a perfectly executed race by them!

Micheal Schär with some tough luck the past few weeks. In situations like this more teammates feeling comfortable in a cobbled terrain were needed. Anyway 20th is better than nothing, though must be better the paved roads ahead.

Thanks for another great report, roturn!
