Aker could have had the courtesy to let Danny had that one. After all they did ruin our final sprint in Qatar
Much better today from Van Poppel. Looks like our train for him wasn't good enough to help him and following others was a much better approach.
Congrats, ember! Groenewegen really making it up for the slower start of the season.

Boring.
And awful by Bol, once again. That guy has just become useless after last year's Giro.
Congrats to Aker nonetheless, hopefully someone else will get the remaining stages though

Damn, Walls was in the perfect position there, and I really thought he had a chance to win it jumping out of the slipstream when he did. But in the end he didn't have enough speed to come through and overtake the two men in front of him. Which to be fair is exactly the way it should be. The fact that the best sprinter was able to hold on is good for the game. Just could have used something different here.
Can't be disappointed with two podiums and another top 5 from the sprint stages though. A stage win would have been nice for the points standings, but we brought the 5th best sprinter to this race and we're getting our money's worth.
I think is time for a Festina level raid of Aker, who after a disappointing start to the year clearly decided the team would start winning one way or another.

Pity the old yellow jersey sprinting curse didn't return to give another team a chance
Tidy bit of TTT practise from the team to wake up Kirsch there mid stage.

Does roturn know you have to play with a control team and not interfere, instead of playing with Aker?

Good effort by Cort. Seems like KoMs will be the biggest points source for us in this race.
Great win for Pogacar. Congrats, Cedevita! Nice to see someone other than Aker taking the win, for a change

He clearly forgot, unfortunately! Thank you again for the report, roturn!
A pity to see us waste Novak like that on what could have been a very nice opportunity for him. Think he should have finished somewhere among the top 11 riders if our approach was a normal one. Now his GC ambitions are gone, but still hope to see him give his best on a proper mountain stage on the penultimate stage, as it is really difficult to still say what we can expect of him in the PT with these stats.
Big congratulations, red! That was very, very convincing from Pogi, cracking everyone from the front. And seeing your TTT lineup, he must be considered the big favourite now, eventhough tomorrow can create huge gaps. |

LET'S F***ING GO!!!
Great work by Habtemichael in the 2nd half of the stage, he kept Pogacar in great position throughout and finished strongly as well. I'm still pissed he lost that time on stage 4 as he would've been sitting pretty in 12th overall right now
But he set up Pogi to do exactly what I hoped he was capable off. I was afraid Phinney would use his superior sprint on an easier finish like this, but we weren't having it! A hard pace to put everyone on the limit can backfire for the one making the pace, but the MO training clearly paid off at the 1st first time of asking!
Getting those gaps at the end is crucial to our hopes of winning the race.
The big question now is, can we control the race tomorrow with a mostly TTT lineup? The stage doesn't look overly hard until the final climb and a few of my time-trialists aren't bad climbers, so I have some hope we can do it. But we could definitely use some help from the other teams

Wow, what a announcement party for trained Pogacar! Huge win, love to see it, congrats red! Enjoyed Habtemichael's role in it too of course.
No breakaway. Manninen beat Pomoshnikov. That's all I have to say about that

Not sure why we are not in the breakaway in a stage like this. Wasn't expecting much from this race anyway.

Poor luck from Aker today, hope them can comeback till the end of the race. Congrats on the win red! Not the bedt day from Rodrigues, but Im impressed by Rachid and Orosco. Fortunately this one doesnt count for us. Brilliant reports all over!

Well we are all in on the break away tomorrow I should hope!
Pogacar looking very strong is worrying as well, no one stood a chance

Foss with a desaster stage, once again no break appearance for us. Definitely not a good race for us.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Congrats to Cedevita, definitely a nice one by Pog!
Will be interesting to see if Phinney's +1 in Mo will matter tomorrow, then he could still get a good gap - otherwise it's fairly clear that Cedevita will cruise to the GC win in the TTT. In particular given that Eastman was pretty bad here.
Guess it was a pretty good race by Stüssi, but not a great one. It would have been if he had been able to finish alongside Faglum - having the same climbing skill - but I guess Colin overextended himself at some point and cracked. Still, Top 10 on this stage is fine and puts him in a good position for our target Top 15 GC result.
A bit sad Darbellay didn't try harder to get a good result but instead just dropped back, could also have finished in the Cras/Habtemichael region instead. Still, he's currently 21st, and maybe tomorrow will be a better day for him - finally a good one uphill, that is, which would definitely be appreciated.
Thanks for the report!

Kirsch having a terrible race this far - not great knowing that he will slow down the TTT stage win efforts also! Chance to make amends on next stage though.
Really nice stage from Girdlestone, but the senseless time loss previously does hurt on the GC front.

Good stage for us. Galta was unremarkable and understandably didn't have the kick to keep up with the podium in the end, but he stay alert and grinded to the finish to end up on the same time as most of his main rivals. We'll need to hope to gain on Faglum Karlsson and Warchol tomorrow for sure, but the majority of climbers similar to Galta have finished with him or behind, and Latour not gaining time at least leaves open the chance we could pass him (though that's very unlikely). For the rest, the TTT basically removes any possibility of an upset. Eg also with a solid ride. Hope that continues.

Shame Leknessund lost time in that random stage 4 split. It then caused him to try an attack in the mountain stage, which made him lose even more time. Unlucky fail for him this P-N.
Warchol, Senni and Carboni are doing pretty decent in GC though. If we have a good day in the TTT, this race might still be succesful for us.

Wow insane run of stages by Aker. Congrats ember!
McNulty with a great first tough stage coming 3rd, but tomorrow is when it really counts. Also nice to have gotten two white jerseys after stages first with Matsuda and then Chaiyasombat.
I do have a strong ttt squad here but unfortunately could only bring 7 riders due to planning constraints. |

Super-Pogi! Could be a sign of what to expect the next years this, if he continues his development. Obviously a great base to build on.
Happy that we keep the KoM and win that, not much else to note for us.

ANOTHER ONE!!
It's super cool to see the massive training working for Pogi. Looking at the startlist I had a feeling he could do this, but you can never be sure with the likes of Phinney/Haig having +1 MO, Eastman and his TT team and a usual overperformer like Latour. In the end it's two rather convincing wins!
Looks like we used up all of the riders and they did a great job keeping the race under control until the final climb. I don't see how we lose the race from here, but hopefully we have some energy left and can go for the TTT stage as well
