Damn I would be scared
Great show the sprinters are pulling off, Kennaugh clearly very smart with his positioning altough not having a leadout.. makes you think of how important it really is. Still Coquard is in the mix for the win, Bewley and Dege with preety good chances, every stage is essential no mistakes can be made

It's not pleasant at all to see Silvestre being completely ignored by the game for the sprints...
On the plus side, both he and Van Winden continue without losing time.

Stupid Sprint by Coquard, but he isn’t getting any help. He seems to be 5th after Degenkolb, Swift, Bewley and Van Stayen by the AI. So we need to train him further.

Just want to acknowledge the fact that somehow Awet Gebremedhin managed to finish in the first group yesterday. Thought his first race would be a terrible experience but apparently he can do crosswinds as well.
Great reports btw

Someone able to explain what my team is trying to do? Horrible performances and hopefully getting better soon. |

Great stage for me. Van stayen 2nd is perfect and the whole team seems to be at the front of the race for large parts of the race.
Love the sprint coverage!

Well, well, well!!! Kennaugh
I've invested in his sprint train for this season, but it seems he's so used to riding on his own that he doesn't really have any use for them |

Really decent start for my team, 2nd and 4th places are decent results. My sprint train does not look too good though, Bewley did not really have great position to sprint. Not sure if Croket as a lead-out man was a good signing.
Thanks for reports.

Very good from Ciolek! Happy with that, as 5th is great in this field. Looked like he timed his sprint really well, eventhough he faded at the very end, but at least he got himself in the mix before that, which was great. Hopefully he can have another stage similar to this, and thus fighting for a top 15 overall.
And very nice coverage of the sprint, Tamijo! Really enjoyable with the detailed information on which riders are where in the closing kilometers. |

Stage 2 went significantly worse than first one. Merino Criado with his season highlight though
Quite surprisingly strong performances from Kenaugh, congrats CT.

Brilliant from Avelino! First podium of the season. I he can hang onto the top10 for the rest of the stages, this pivotal result could be decisive for the final GC.
Congrats on the win CT. Kennaugh could be in for a massive result here!
I'll add my voice to the choir of praising comments on the sprints. Superb job, delivering all the info and tension when it matters most!

Bah, Howard really bad in this one. Hurts to see someone like Lindemann scoring bonus seconds instead! (congrats anyway)
Quite a brutal day in general. At least Dempster survived the splits.. Dennis though.. Only two GC riders left and Howard does not perform too well. Going to be "fun" here

Damn it looked so good for a podium there
He is still up there every stage atleast and trying.
If Swift will keep on doing this it will be a long season for roturn in the sprints... |

This is turning out to be a brutal race! Starting to regret that I couldn't fit Wisniowski, but oh well. Another good performance from Ringheim and this time close to going all the way too. Boeckmans again a bit too isolated, but very important that he managed to get same time as the winner. Hope for less wind the coming days and hopefully Boeckmans managing to get inside top 10. Thanks for a great report, Tamijo!

And now i regret not bringing Van Avermaet. With Van stayen finally recognized as a top rider, my team is working more and creating more havoc than in previous years. Slightly annoyed by Stoltz of all my riders being dropped as he was a top ten contender by now. He might be one pf my favourite riders but i really dont understand him at times. Still, 5 guys in the 31 by now is a promising GC standing. Hopefully they all stay in future front groups ...

So close! Getting a stagewin here could have made all the difference. We need to find some time on Degenkolb and Bewley to have a shot at winning this...
This edition of Qatar really is difficult. I would have thought riders such as Bar and Santos would be perfectly suited, but unfortunately only Coquard can keep up in the wind... Obviously not being s 3 star favorit hurts our points haul a lot, as worse riders from those favorite teams get better results.
If I was a neutral here this would have been a great race to follow, but I must admit that I find it difficult to enjoy with that much Wind destroying the pack, and even more so to see Coquard not a 3 star favorite...

Another brutal. Mid-report had me expecting a GC disaster for us, but Avelino with an heroic effort to finish just outside the top10.
Degenkolb once again, congrats beagle! Coquard still doing is thing and Ahlstrand, probably the most mentioned in the sprints, but still no podium. Evonik beasting the ranks.
I'm afraid Aegon needs two podiums in a row or some other turnaroung, otherwise this will turn in a disaster race for roturn, which would be a shame.

Olala, what a stage that was. And not a good one for us, with no one except Ciolek able to follow the first group in the wind. Luckily Ciolek could hang on, but he's our only hope left now for a decent GC. Speaking of decent GC, Fiedler is doing great here, and he'll be able to take 30 seconds or maybe even more on riders like Ciolek, which makes him a sure top 10 as it stands now.
Still pretty close at the top, and whoever of the five front runners can get a win and at least a top three as well on the final two stages, is in a great position. For Ciolek, I'll need him to pick up 15ish more bonus seconds to make him a genuine top 10 threat for the overall, which looks difficult as it stands now. But hopefully he'll at least try! |
