First blow Pliuchkin but also much other drama in the GC but gratz to knockout for the maglia rosa and stage win. Top notch report and screenshots danny

Will be rooting for Denifl here, even though I believe he will fail like he used to with me :-p
Also a great preview!
*reads first stage*
Did not expect Van Stayen to win from that position. When I saw the sprint setup I thought he was too far behind and that Guarnieri would take it quite easily. Well done by him

Awesome report, Tinkoff saving energy and already losing time: I like it!

Not so cool to see Saber caught in the crash.
Don't mind about the split though.

Great start with Boivon managing a top 5 position and for us the time gaps are redudent but are also very worrying looking at future races for Phinney |

Too bad Tzortzakis missed the split, he would have had a very nice shot at a top 5 there.

Great preview, danny. And nice to see the startlist which isn't too bad for Cattaneo.
I'm really looking forward to see what he's capable of, and this is basically the first race I've given him where it's completely fair to expect results. Off to a good start, keeping himself in the front group and gaining time on some rivals |

Wow this stage surely was odd. Look at the top 10 and you will be anywhere near surprised - MVS-Guarnieri? Who would have guessed! - but the rest definitely is something I didn't see coming in a first stage... Hopefully this won't influence the GC fight too much.
Congrats knockout for the choice paying off already and huge thanks for the great report to danny.

Pluchkin is gonna dominate this!
Unless he crashes or has a mechanical problem or sth like that. |

very well deserved one for Grieg! Potocki the first one to disband is horrible news though

So close!!
25 centimetres from the win, but also a mere 50 centimetres from finishing 7th so I don't classify it as a lost win.
Especially since this gives Demare white at least for a day, maybe two depending on Aker's TTT strength and on the size of the gaps in general tomorrow.
Nerz seems to be fine in 60th, Felline crashing isn't good.
Onto the TTT then where it's damage control time, most other GC guys have had a better start already anyway.

That was a weird ending, but I'm just happy and satisfied that no GC riders made it to that front group.
Double crash for Orange - as long as it's not Cattaneo, I'm OK |

Awesome to see Grieg get some success at last!
Also Evonik with a great start here, nice to see the two top sprinters perform.
Big congratz to both!

Yes! Great sprint from Guarnieri. Goal accomplished and our first win in PT and a Grand Tour for that matter. Really happy about the two sprints here, two of the flat stages I was most worried about.
The team again with a huge perfomance here. With the gaps now it might even be possible to hang on to the GC lead after the TTT.
Thanks for another great report, sgdanny.

Another good stage from Van Stayen. Would have been cool if he could have defended the leader jersey for another stage but as i dont have any ttt team i'd have lost it one on the next stage anyway.
Grieg was impressive on this stage once again and fully deserved victory for them. Strongest team on the two opening stages = victory and maglia rosa deserved! Congrats!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Thank you for another report, sgdanny, and at the exact same time as yesterday. That's what you call consistency, I guess Big congratulations, tastasol! Great to see Grieg-Eftel already be successful here.
Holst Enger with another good sprint, and I'm very pleased to see him be up there in the mix again. Kind of a pity Guldhammer didn't manage to follow and steal back most of the time he lost yesterday, but as there was no GC rider in the front group this time, it's okay.

What TTT strength? Never been something we've been good at, and it's damage control mode here as well. Though, looking at our line ups, Holst Enger should be the favourite to start stage 4 in white, if it's only between those two and none of the riders behind catch up. |

I don't actually recall seeing so many people fighting for a win. I've seen similar stuff for podiums, top 5s and positions in the top 10, but not such a close fight for a win. Exciting stuff and nice to see top lad Guarnieri coming out on top. I always liked him. And I'm gonna get him next year
Also lol at those random 1m splits between sprinters and peloton

With the expected relegation, I won't be too surprised if that happens

Nice to see someone other than Bewley winning, congrats to Evonik and Grieg!
Not the greatest start for Howard, but actually it is at least quite good to see Leight finally taking the part in sprints. He is top 3 favourite though, so if he isn't getting podiums, I really can't be happy with his results.
I have to be pretty happy with König's first stage though, to actually gain some time on his rivals in a flat is a nice bonus.
No crashes for us is a nice thing to see as well.
