Bewley winning, who could've guessed that?

Another below-par result by David, but oh well. 1-2 in the rankings pace away again. Luckily cobbles are over for now.

Jeez bbl did it take all that time to let Bewley take it?
I think devastating is the correct word yes. Bewley had to fight really hard for this victory with almost no help from anyone and rightly so as well
What a report though, beautiful stuff and well, duh, congrats Roman.

Great report bbl. I really thought Gold Van Avermaet would get it but Bewley is just too damn good. Gratz roman

Maybe he gave up trying to see a non Bewley win after the 5th attempt
On a more serious note that report was definitely worth the wait as it was a really good one. I thought GVA had it but Bewley came back so strong at the end there.
Senechel's impressive performance makes me think he might be the one to eventually dethrone Bewley, beginning of the season I thought GVA might but I don't think he can race much better then he did today and that wasn't quite enough.

Great report, and very tense towards the end, where it really looked like GVA had it. Thank you, bbl! And congratulations again, Roman.
Seemed like a puncture at the worst possible moment for Kristoff, which is really unlucky, as seeing how the race unfolded and the riders in the front group at the end, it feels like a great chance at a top 5 was missed. Nothing to do about it though, let's hope for better luck later. |

Great race for us. Trentin preserving energy all day, and finishing it off brilliantly. Can't ask for more then a 5th place in such a field. Wisniowski and Rowe also following brilliantly up, with an additional two top 20s. Even Øystein Stake Laengen coming through with the ride of his life in 27th.
Sadly the end of the cobbled this, now we'll drop even further in the rankings
An exciting race, and well reported bbl. Not a big surprise with Bewley winning, but he really had to work for it. Feel a bit for knockout, getting so close to the win. Congrats to Roman anyway!

Well worth the wait, nice report, cheers baseball. Excellent result for us, a podium rounds off a nice classics season for Senechal and Fenn finally getting up there is gratifying too. Decided to save time and just congratulate Roman after the cobbled classics are done so there you go: well done, Bewley's superhuman and it's boring

Wow. After so much of effort wasted with attacking, pulling then waiting and again pulling and attacking with no other outcome than a final sprint I really was not surprised that Bewley may have a problem to actually win it in the final sprint. But well, there probably couldn't be a more exciting and cruel way to steal the victory from GVA. Bastard winning in a bastard way, like that a lot.
Tying Boonen's winning record in Roubaix, repating the tripple of early season classic's win from the last year, I have to be really happy with the main cobble season. But I am almost as happy to see my Czech rider Karel Hnik finishing 11th in such a huge race and actually helping my main leader quite a lot to win the race at the same time. So enjoyable to see a rider on that you wasted years to max him out to actually start to producing anything relevant in races and then to expand to such a nice result.
Fascinating report to read bbl, big thanks. And once again thanks for all these nice congratulations. Good news for all of you: Bewley winning season is probably in the end now. Hopefully some Sagan miracle time is coming though.

What. A. Race.
Bewley toying with everyone more than ever before, I'm out of words to describe this guy.
Blythe seems to have been caught out by the attack because he appeared to be blocked on the left side.
But even if he had made it up there, at most he could've beaten Senechal so I disagree with bbl, being disappointed with 4th if all you could've achieved is 3rd isn't my initial reaction.
Weber with two monster rides in the monuments to get 14th and 16th, that's way above what his stats suggest. Those are great minor points together with Daniel that make up for the lack of a podium. #depth
Infinite thanks to bbl for persisting through the file issues and still delivering a top class report, even taking care of the lower finishers with a passion and detail as it was about the Top 3. Thank you!
Congrats to Roman, please stop now. And I'm happy to see Hnik doing well for you, don't forget where he came from

Unsurprising winner, surprising way to win. Thanks for the great report.
We got a top 30 which is great by our standards, but not great in the fact it keeps us rooted to the bottom of the table. |

Such a thriller! Pretty sure GVA thought he had it before Bewley activated the rocket thrusters.
I must say I'm positively surprised by Veelers. When I read he was among the first group of big names who got dropped I assumed it would be business as usual. But he fought himself to 15th, which is decent.
Top class report bbl, thanks!

Well worth the wait BBL, with what was a top report!
Possibly Bewley's 6th(?) victory in a major race this season... one of the closest finishes he has had but nope, he does it in the end.
Congrats again Roman

I've had to wait a little to comment on this, otherwise I'd come guns blazing, ready to have a very public meltdown.
Kamyshev, you suck.
Bewley is a monster, although I thought he'd lose after wasting so much energy. Oh well. Just goes to show that he's a much, much better than everyone else.
BBL, good report, although I hate you for replaying the race so many times. I'm sure Kamyshev did much better in each of the other races |
