Eh, 2 stages in and you have the feeling no one can come even close to Trofimov. What an illegal rider. Will be interesting to see who can claim 2nd place though, seems like a really really close fight at the moment, even if the TT is yet to come. Nice report trek!

Already two reports when i have noticed the thread, nice and fast job trek!.
TTT was bit of a disappointment for us, 6th is not great for our strength, but whoel stuff is too random and teams were very close, we faded in the end.
I have to say i have not expected Coppel here and thought about the possible stage win for either Zmorka or Ignatiev in longer TT. So hopefully at least podium there.
We have no guy for the hilly stuff, so it would be actually nice to see us in the break one day, i wear we have had like three appereances there during whole year so far. Our hilly department is very shy so far.
Congrats SotD and Oleg! Trofimov has to be the winner here.
A TTT in the first stage is a great opportunity to score big. I think I landed 70 points from that stage alone
I though the hills looked less difficult than they ended up being, and had a hope that Coppel could somehow make a top 10 after being 76HI now. Had to put Koretzky inhere in case I was wrong though, to chase for some stage results instead.
I'm guessing neither Koretzky nor Coppel will be close to the top 15 here, so hopefully I will atleast have another stagewin on the TT, and Koretzky could possibly take a stage top 5 or something aswell.

And right on cue Hansen goes to and gets the KOM jersey! He really is the perfect type of breakaway rider. Hopefully he can hold the jersey for himself and for Red Bull!

Not a bad TTT result, glad to be in the group that stayed within 30 seconds.
Stage 2 slightly disappointing. First we lose Monfort to a crash injury, Kangert drops and ends up losing time and Ginanni doesn't try to follow Trofimov and Bakelants.
But there's also positives for sure. Koren did well to hang on to the favorites group and we're now firmly in the lead of the team ranking.
Hope Ginanni has better legs in stage 3 and manages to show his class.

Good stage by Meyer, climbing some spots in the GC. Have to be better positioned next time though, second time he is behind a split so far in the race. Nice little break from Juul-Jensen again. Hopefully he can go after the KoM now.

TVG moves into second! Not sure he can make up the 50 seconds to Trofimov, but knowing him, he isn't going down without attacking a few times to at least try. Also, I like the mini USA NC jersey for him. Looks great in the report!

Wow
Skujins the next one of my guys to perform well. This season start is turning into a festival lasting a couple of months with nearly no break inbetween.
Nice to see Marzuki in the break and good to see how many guys Skujins could overtake in GC with this stage. Quite a few will pass him again on stage 5 so he will have to come close to a repeat on the other two stages to stay in the top 7 in GC.
High positions in Points + Youth classification also very much appreciated
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Horrible stage. Kangert and Koren were doing well in GC, but they lose 15 minutes after a crash together with Monfort who already crashed yesterday.
My only hope left his Ginanni, but he continues to just sit in the peloton and he can't TT.
Frustrating tour for Gazelle.
The guy who made a special mini jersey for Koren is a hero btw. Thanks!

Haha no problem, I did those for all National Champions in a batch process so it took nowhere near as much time as you would think
Anyways interesting stage this, Skujins must have had some really good form there to outsprint all those top puncheurs! As usual as it seems with these hilly sprints, whoever is 1st with 1 km to go wins the stage. Trofimov on the other hand surely is untouchable, I really don't see anyone making up any lost time on him before stage 5. Congrats KO!
And as usual great reports trek.

Must admit Im dissapointed with the teams performance here (or rather lack off..)
Showing nothing here with such a team I brought + Bilbao underperforming makes this race hard to enjoy

Congratulations, knockout! Super impressive by Skujins, and your team is going from strength to strength in the early days of the season.
Great to see EBH up there. Hoped for the stage win as well, but I guess his high pace on the final kilometers before the sprint affected his sprint. Happy he made that effort though, as it gave him 5th in GC, which is good considering the TTT.
He will drop a couple of places in the ITT, so hopefully he will go out there and make the two hilly stages left as hard as possible, gaining time and hopefully bring home a stage win.
Thank you for the report, trekbmc! |

Wow, didn't see that stage win coming, also a very good follow up in stage 3 defending the leader jersey, still very close rankings, long way to go still.

Congratulations knockout.
Claeys dropping a few places to 15th is a bit disappointing but at least he doesn't seem to have been injured by his fall.

Jesus, I think Trofimov is somehow even stronger this year. Good results so far from Jan, despite the team losing the expected minute in the TTT. Was very worried when he hit the deck, but thankfully he seems uninjured, and being 3rd in the GC at this point is fantastic, hopefully he'll continue to be aggressive

Unlucky finish, but eventually, it's more important to show some strength and gain back some seconds. As said before, the GC ppodium has to be the goal, so please, pplease don't pull a Durbridge in the TT, Bobridge.

I had to check the results very closely to actually spot a Metinvest rider, i thought they already went home, given the no-show in the whole race after the TTT. We dont have guy for top30 in GC and not a single breakaway appereance, while the teammates of top10 guys or even GC outsiders jump into break day by day. What?
Congrats knockout and wacko! And thanks for the reports trek, two per night (in Europe) are great pacing!
In the next TT, we have to save this race at least a bit, two guys in top5 and three in top15 please, we have the power for that for sure, we just need some luck.

A pity EBH missed the decisive move and went solo after them, only to not get rewarded by the time keepers, as his gap down to the others looks about as big as the gap from the front trio down to him. Suddenly that top 5 spot looks difficult to achieve, seeing also Gesink only half a minute behind.
Congratulations, wackojackohighcliffe, while Bobridge also did great considering the overall podium. Well done to Van Garderen as well being up there and cut Trofimov's gap, eventhough that will only grow bigger in the TT.
Thank you for the report, trekbmc! |
