Aaaaah, how did I not see this thread yesterday? Man...

I have a whole bunch that I can nominate.

Aussies:
Calvin Watson
Zakkari Dempster
Damien Howson
Rhys Gillett
David Tanner
Will Clarke

Kiwi:
Michael Vink

GB:
Luke Rowe

Irish: Ryan Mullen

If I can get my own team (aussies only), I'd nominate
Watson, Tanner, Clarke, Dempster and Gillett. If it's to late, then it looks like there's room for Mullen in the Irish team, Watson in an Australian team and Vink in a Kiwi team.

I'm a little surprised that Shonak didn't nominate Marzuki as he'd be good support for Othman for Port Arlington.

and what do the stars mean on Will Clarke and Mitch Docker?

Having the only 2 former winners present (because Howard is too strong now) on the same team is kinda scary to face, I guess that means all the pressure is on Compal though.

tsmoha
I decided to let Docker ride for Grieg instead of their initial nominee Will Clarke, so they switched their places. Would have been less balanced otherwise, so now Docker can also lead a team here instead of sitting on the same team with Cam Meyer, e.g..

seems like the first time ever in my life I will root for a british national team Grin go Tennant! Cool

So, to kill some time before the first action kicks off (to remember: I won't post any reports until all managers have sent in their race planners to SN), I will do the usual business with short previews and Bay Classic history pieces. Let's begin with an overview of what happened in the past three seasons:

Bay legend: Chris Sutton took three victories for Risa-Ergon in the first edition of the Bay Cycling Classic (2013)! Leigh Howard and Simon Clarke completed the overall podium.
i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/BCS_3_93_zps068e3fb5.jpg

Lachlan Morton kicked off his professional career with a bang, when he climbed to a victory in the challenging Portarlington criterium 2013. A mid-race attack from a 4-men-group, a strong finishing kick to beat Tim Kennaugh to the line and to hold off veteran Simon Gerrans as the first of the group of favorites by 30 seconds.
i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/MG14_Reports_Crits/Bay14_2_011_zps182e3fe3.jpg

Leigh Howard did never manage to win a single criterium here, but he took the overall primes in 2014 anyway. Consistency paid off, as he eventually held off Sam Bennett (who took a victory on second day) and Michael Matthews (who added another of two more victories for Risa) by 7 points in the final standings.

Michael Matthews did the same one year later: while missing out on his second single victory at the Bay, the Aussie kicked off his year with Compal-Merida with a narrow overall Bay-victory ahead of Mitch Docker (for an again impressive Risa team) and Irishman Sam Bennett.
i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/MG14_Reports_Crits/Bay14_4_004_zpsf63e4274.jpg

Impressions from Geelong 2014: a breakaway group with Rohan Dennis (Lotto), Matthew Lloyd (UniSA), Jack Haig (riding for Avanti) and Michael Hepburn (Becherovka)! Veteran Lloyd had a realistic shot at the overall victory, but couldn't outsmart the sprinters in this final crit through Geelong.
i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/MG14_Reports_Crits/Bay14_3_011_zps707667cf.jpg

Risa - Ergon certainly should be considered Bay specialists: from so far 12 single crits, the team took 5 (with Chris Sutton, Nathan Haas and Michael Matthews) and the team finished on the overall podium in every edition so far (Sutton 1st in 2013, Matthews 3rd in 2014 and Mitchell Docker 2nd in 2015)! Impressive numbers. Will they be similar strong with a new name (Grieg - Eftel) this year?

Let`s hope Bennett can improve from his recent performances on Portarlington.

Looking forward to this and nice to see also Nick Bain was added. Had prefered him over McCormick, who was a wrong signed stagiare anyway. Pfft
