A primarily flat set of races in Germany, the profile doesn't really fit our team too well, but it will be the first time for Farrar to really look to be a sprinter at the PCT level and see what he is capable of putting together. Like many stage races, finding guys in the breakaway will be our aim.

We would finally put ourselves back in the break due to the efforts of Byron de la Cruz, and would be rewarded as the breakaway was able to stay away. A second place finish will suit us nicely going forward as we continue to try and salvage whatever possible from this race.

We wouldn't be active enough to find the first stage breakaway but the results won't matter too much as the field got its sprint. Tyler did well, finding a spot in the top ten of this group as he is working to adjust back to being a primary sprinter here instead of protecting Summerhill on cobbles.

Another rough day for the team, missing out on the breakaway and again well out of position to contend for the stage, I think most of the guys will be very happy to leave this race behind and move on to the rest of the schedule.

Time-trialing is not our teams favored aspect and really there isn't anyone particularly strong in the discipline for us. So much so that nary a camera would follow any of our riders.

We would again find a day where we didn't hit the breakaway, and it would cost us as the break would get their revenge and gain a good two minutes and change on the field. I guess on the good side of the day with many sprinters perhaps disheartened Farrar was able to pick up 13th, good for 3rd amongst the field sprint.

Stage four was perhaps never designed for us as the hilltop finish would clearly be the target for anyone with GC aspirations in this race. Not surprisingly a breakaway, which we were not in, never really had a chance, nor did any of our riders as the race favorites flew ahead.

While Het Volk might have been the first test for Summerhill on the cobbles, Kigali is where the challenge becomes real as we are now in the PCT where points for the team can be won and lost. Danny will likely be the top favorite for the race, but concerns about his support could come up, especially considering his top rival, Vanspeybrouck, has a very talented bit of support around him.
Azteca - NBCSN Lineup | | | 111 | | Danny Summerhill | 112 | | Julián Becerra | 113 | | Samuel Coronel | 114 | | Dadley Corwin | 115 | | Leonardo Duque | 116 | | Cesar Ixehuati | 117 | | Luis Pulido | 118 | | Jose Luis Rodriguez |

In one of the rare races where we aren't looking to get in the breakaway a group of 4 is let go and would establish a sizable lead. While the team put forth a good effort, with about 50k remaining Danny decided it was time to put down the hammer.
Many would try to follow and few would be successful as he broke the group into an elite set. Danny wouldn't be done there though as he would again dish out the pain on the next trip over the cobbles this time ridding himself of all challengers.
It would end in a bit of dominance and plenty of time to enjoy the hard earned victory. Perhaps set as a sign to the other teams that the cobbles would be his domain this year with or without help.

Congrats to the win. Not a big surprise here. Even though having no support at all, I thought it would be more difficult against Bpost.
This guy definitely is too good for PCT. But if I promote and you keep him, I will be happier next year. |

super strong show. If he continues like that then you should be able to avoid relegation

I need to keep seeing those results from him, for sure, and I'd love if you and BPost could promote getting some of the stronger cobblers further away from Summerhill in these PCT races. Really want to get him some support for next season, but if he can do this not sure how much I'd be willing to spend on it.

The legendary gravel roads of Strade Bianche. Summerhill leads our team and we don't think any other cobbles specialist at this race should be able to match him, however there are plenty of top notch puncheurs joining as well that would like to give their hand, and much may depend on the race conditions to see if the gravel causes them enough issues for Danny to ride away like he has multiple times early in this season.

The couple weeks have been busy for Azteca riders in the Pro-tour as both our Loanees, Salinas (Metinvest) and Veilleux (Orange) were in action.
David Veilleux road in Paris-Nice, and find himself part of the action on stage 5, joining a 7 man breakaway. Winning the cat 3 KoM and first intermediate sprint along the route. The group would get caught, but he would still hold on for a 28th place finish.
Veilleux seen riding in 4th position here in the break.
He would end the tour in 72nd, 25'37" behind the leader. But certainly would get a good cheer for his work for the team throughout the race.
David would also take part in the monument Milan-San Remo again as a domestique for the team, and finishing 81st, but on the same time as Sam Bewley who won the race in a sprint.
Jonathan Salinas would have a rougher go in Tirreno-Adriactico with a Metinvest team that had very little interest in the overall or climbing aspects of the race. Finishing 117th, and a large 1h09'04" back of race winner Dan Martin.

Stage five of this race would be about as painful as all the others as the team happily escapes this week of racing in Germany. Farrar leads the team across the line, but nowhere near a decent finish.
Stage:
42 | | Tyler Farrar | + 2'06 | 115 | | François Parisien | s.t | 118 | | Marcos Crespo | s.t | 121 | | César Vaquera | s.t | 123 | | Juan Pablo Magallanes | s.t | 151 | | Yohann Gene | s.t | 190 | | José Serpa | + 7'20 | 191 | | Marc Codrington | s.t. |
GC:
63 | | François Parisien | + 5'16 | 105 | | Juan Pablo Magallanes | + 7'26 | 138 | | Tyler Farrar | + 9'39 | 170 | | César Vaquera | + 18'02 | 171 | | Marcos Crespo | + 18'22 | 178 | | José Serpa | + 24'43 | 189 | | Yohann Gene | + 37'42 | 192 | | Marc Codrington | + 1h03'58 |

Another rough day for the team as the hopes of a Summerhill victory quickly faded upon realizing the gravel roads would provide no more challenge than the average pavement to the peloton, and quickly how ill-suited our team was to this terrain. We would at least make a show of the race with Luis Pulido in the breakaway but that would be about the greatest extent of good news for our team.
92 | | Juan Villegas | + 4'20 | 102 | | Xavier Quevedo | s.t | 122 | | Danny Summerhill | s.t | 127 | | Luis Pulido | + 5'17 | 148 | | Samuel Coronel | + 6'30 | 181 | | César Vaquera | + 19'33 | 184 | | Dadley Corwin | s.t | 192 | | Marc Codrington | + 28'02 |

The opening of the Belgian classics season for us, and another great opportunity for points as we get to put our top man Danny Summerhill on the front again and after another win on the cobbles. Unlike Kigali this route is mostly flat, though it does include painful trips up the Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg, but leaves plenty of road after these climbs for the other riders to catch up. Being at the front will be required to win, and there may be a small bunch sprint, but we are confident Danny can and will come out on top.

A unique classic, with a tough mountain top finish, a race only for the climbers. We have lots of those to put on the course, though non will be considered top favorites. Look for us to play for the breakaway and see how well Quintana can do if/when he has to make his move with the best of them.
Azteca - NBCSN Lineup | | | 1 | | Nairo Quintana | 2 | | Julián Becerra | 3 | | Jimmi Briceno | 4 | | Fredy Montaña | 5 | | Xavier Quevedo | 6 | | Andres Saldarriaga | 7 | | José Serpa | 8 | | Wilmer Vasquez |

Danny wastes little time and makes his move 58km from the finish, putting pressure onto the other teams to chase him down.
Summerhill would quickly catch and drop the break, except for top CT cobbler Stinj Joseph who would be able to hold onto our man's wheel.
Joseph would finish off the race with a strong sprint after sitting in Danny's wheel for essentially all of the closing kilometers of the race. Summerhill would hold on for 2nd on the day, still a very solid result for our team.

There wouldn't be much seen of Azteca today, as most feared, Quintana would finish with a very solid 10th in the race, but was never really a threat to take the race and instead took the smart course and rode within himself.
