Ugh, I hate break aways.. Why don't we try to join them, instead of just sitting nicely in the peloton? Stupid racing from us.
Btw: You posted both this and the last stage as stage 4, so this should have been stage 5 Otherwise, excellent reports, roturn.

Hmm, that break could spoil the fun.
Duggan dropped to 5th now.

Holy Guacamole!
How well do Bonscuro do when racing, at home, in South America! Nicácio wins the Tour de San Luis and, now, in a totally different fashion Borges takes the lead of all classifications and looks set to take the GC, considering how the racing went on stages 1 through 4. He is just too strong for the continental domestiques to bring him back over such breakaway friendly terrain.
We definitely have the team here capable of defending the GC lead, ride it home guys.

If some team would help us chasing that would be quite nice.

I knew a day like this was bound to happen and fortunately for us Fan Hsin Chu was able to get into the break. Nowhere close to being as strong as Borges, but third on the stage and on GC is fantastic. At the very least it's much better than where Rosskopf would be placed had the break not survived. So, unexpected point haul there, I guess.
Can totally understand the disappointment if you happened to be manager of a favorite after a stage like this though.

Strange race!
GC appears done for us and many of the main contenders. Hope Fonseca can score again, as he seems to be the one in shape.
We'll try to position Raphael Addy in one of the coming days breakaways (last stage would be the best suited) as it proved to be a promising tactic.

Well done Geschke! Impressive win there! It would have been better if the gap had counted as I need those bonus seconds (13'' between 10. and 5. in GC) but the stage win + sprinter jersey nearly secured is a good beginning. And Geschke will have more chances to get bonus seconds on the last two stages.

Gratz to Geschke and Evonik. This victory was announced and overdue.
Next stage is better suited for Fonseca... we'll see what's left for us in this race.

Another super stage from the guys there, Manarelli & Borges finishing next to each other once again 3rd & 4th this time. Geschke, looked the fastest, so was a worthy winner.
Just one more stage to go to hopefully wrap up the GC and get a very healthy points tally from this race. I don't see Borges losing any significant time, more than a few seconds, to the race favourites at the rate he has been going. |

Reading the stage I was like: " Go and take some bonus seconds. "
Looking at the last pics I was like: " Yay. That's gonna be a podium. Some nice bonus seconds are incoming! "
Looking at the finish line: " Ohh. I like that result. That are a lot of bonus seconds."
Even with the breakaway bug this race is a very good one for us. (At least?) 2 stage wins, point classification (if no crash) and hopefully top five in GC is worth quite a lot of points.

Stage 6 and 7 very quiet for us. At least there wasn't anything that caused Chu to lose his podium position, so that's good. Looking forward to the final stage

Sabatini doesn't know that the sprint isn't happening 20 riders back.
But the team is getting in breakaways, and that's the job. it already got us a stage.

Hmm... keep waiting for something to cheer for. Hope for (at least) some activity in the final stage. It's hard to recognise us participating here the past few days.

Well I'm excited that our boys are clearly dominating the leadout trains, sad that Haedo isn't able to finish anything off. And while I did bring some GC guys for this, they don't seem too interested.

And .... there is our second stage race victory. Thrilled to see the likes of Manarelli sacrificing themselves to defend the overall lead, everyone seems to be on the same page at Bonsucro. Borges was one of the top 15 puncheurs here, and being one of the better sprinting puncheurs, he was able to finish highly on the stages after he captured the yellow jersey.
It looks like knockout's prediction of where we will finish in the continental rankings is most accurate atm, but I don't want to count the chickens before they hatch.
Thanks for the reports Roturn, I got a lot of enjoyment out of them and not just because Bonsucro did so well! It sure has motived me for the upcoming Tour de Bretagne. |

That has to be one of the worst ever races regarding gaps. Silly race..
