Our last race for a while where we have close to no expectations (thank god), interested to see how Zaini will do against a field that isn't too strong.

I decided because of the two time trials against the race although it would have suited Modolo (4 stages for him) and Vanendert/Gilbert very well. Looking at the competition now, I even regret it. Alas the race days are elsewhere invested and not much ado about that now.
Going with Rui Costa on this one since I think the hills won't be as hard fought out as in Eritrea previously.

10th is good for Nepomnyachsniy, gaining decent time on most other GC riders, giving him a pretty solid position to work from, and hopefully get the 3rd consecutive top 5 in an HC event for my team. Konovalovas decent, Prevar rather underwhelming.

18 seconds lost to Costa, should be doable to get time in the coming stages I hope, so should not lose more than 1.5 minutes on the long TT I hope

Losing 8 seconds to Costa/Bibby, gaining 10 seconds on Froome, just about as expected today doesn't really matter over 4km though
Thanks for the report roturn

I think Froome or Costa will take this! This profile is set for them imo.
Congrats matt on the opening prologue win, and nice preview/report roturn

Congratz matt! Great start here
We continue the underwhelming results from Eritrea, were hoping for a podium from salas here, but atleast costa did pretty well. Nice advantage over froome to begin with!

Like I said Quaade is a joke.
Oba on the other hand surprises sometime with a very decent prologue, like he also did in last years Tour of Japan. I'm very happy with his 5th place here. |

2nd worst team in the race at stage 1.
Look how we'll slyly turn the tables along the next few stages |

I'll be closely follow what Costa will do here. Either him or Froome for the win depending on how the hilly and TT stages are tackled.
For us a couple of top20s in the GC and some stage podiums would be impeccable.
Anyway good start with Oliveira in 3rd. Good luck everyone!

Gratz matt, quite a dominant ride by van Winden!
The 11 seconds margin is way too much for Aregger. Nonetheless it would be nice to see him compete in next stages bunch sprint.

6th from Paillot is definitely lower than I aimed for. Hope it was just daily for and he'll be back for the later TT and perhaps even able to fight for the youth jersey.

A race formerly won by Bonsucro! - Ah, the glory days when we were battling it out with Nutresa
After some titbits this time around. Riders for all the stages bar the TTs, a small clutch of points will be nice. Roglič leading us, a good tester for him before ToA. |

This is actually my weakest squad for the entire season if I remember correctly. I am hoping Kuboki/Kwok can separate themselves in the TT's, gain bonus seconds on the sprint stages and not lose enormous amounts on the hilly stages.
After the prologue I was hoping they could both be in the Top 10 but oh well.

This certainly could have gone a lot better, but let's see if we can advance up the rankings slow and steadily towards the end.
Cool to see Matt winning the first stage |

OOOOH YEEESS!
Thanks so much for that report, roturn. I saw it coming when I saw Richeze move up on the right there! Wonderful effort from our former B World Champ Richeze! Even without a sprint-train he is to be reckoned with!
Very happy to take our first victory of the season here, on our home soil. This already makes our Tour de San Luis a success. But let's not sit back and wait just yet. It's only started! |

Also Richeze must've had a pretty good daily form. Taking the intermediate sprint as well as the final sprint. A good step in the right direction for the Points Jersey, which is no goal as of yet, but can still become one! Let's see day to day for now |
