It's a glimpse of hope for Groenewegen Third place is good, and liked to see us put a bunch of guys on the front, fairly late as well.
Congratulations again, Roman! |

Pretty disappointing from Thijssen in the 2 sprints, Sam giving us something to be interested about being in the breakaway in the latter of the 2 stages. Back to the Choi focus!

I hope in the latter stages Amezawas Rec kick in and he show something. |

Stage 11 has me worried, but of course stage 12 had be more in a more happy mood.
I'm really hoping that Morton can use his superior climbing ability to gain half a minute every time but Bernal's impressive physical stats may mean our advantage will even out slightly. Everything is still finely balanced but I'm pleased that we have at least built a margin to Dombrowski once again. With 4 mountain top finishes and a MTT where Morton should hopefully have the advantage (more MT stat weighted?) I hope we can grab at least another stage and the overall... Come on Morton!

Wellens showing a nice race so far here.
Basically very similar to the Giro, where he only missed out on a single day for any reason, which ruined his GC somehow.
Let`s hope he can continue to fight for 4th-5th here, which would be much needed points. |

Another seventh place for Aular, that's where he belongs I think. Gaining a little bit of time on Choi is decent, but not gaining more time on Stüssi can be dangerous with the MTT coming soon. Amezawa was also strong this time, he's getting quite a bit closer so that's definitely a dangerous opponent for that seventh spot as well.
Bigger and more dangerous name getting in the breaks now. This time the stage was rather flat mostly, but the other mountain stages seem more suited for those breakaway wins/time gains, so wouldn't be too bad if Aular could also join it perhaps.

Just needed to complain. That was a good stage from Amezawas, slowly going up and up in the rankings. |

It is really pretty crazy how Gaviria gets yet another win, this usually does not happen even though he is a huge favourite, thank you AI gods!
A really interesting battle for the win is shapping us nicely, but looks like Morton is the favourite now.
Thanks a lot for those nice and regular reports!

Choi with a bad stage to lose time to that Stüssi group. Freefalling a bit down the GC to 9th which isn't great. Let's hope he's kept something in the legs to take some time back.

Morton with another mighty performance Congratulations, ryant!
Must admit I fancy Bernal for the overall due to his superb energy stats, but Morton is doing brilliant to prove me otherwise, at least so far.
That was a very good ride by Novak. He must have been super strong to kind of dominate the breakaway on the climbs, but then also to keep up that well when the favourites started attacking, and finishing only 1'36 behind Morton. Fingers crossed we get to see more of this Novak on the upcoming mountain stages. If so, a stage win surely must be the target, as I definitely fancy breakaway success looking at a couple of the GC leaders' domestiques. Also a potential bonus to see him have a go at the KoM points. If he continues that, he surely will join lots of breakaways, at least! |

This has been really pathetic from Manninen. Completely tanked any hope of restoring his season - even multiple stage wins here and winning GP Moscow will have him at not even half his previous season's score in PT. Hope it's not what sinks our entire campaign.
Enjoying the GC stage reports and the quality and pace

Not following the Vuelta actually was a good idea, but given that there's a Classic Fantasy Game deadline soon, I thought I'd still check out how we're doing. This was a bad idea.
What an awful race we're doing. "We" meaning Bol in first place. I don't get it, but somehow he's just the worst sprinter in the entire Vuelta scoring-wise. Sureda, Gross, Wouters, Thijssen, even Dekker - all have scored more points.
Of course, Stüssi is doing his job, and that's great for him, but let's be honest: the difference between 10th and 15th place in GC is neglectable in comparison to stage results. Stüssi should get his 100 points, but Bol is getting nowhere close to what we'd expect from him.
At least Setiawa was part of a successful break, but he should've done this in the first week, now it's time for the big guns. And we don't have any, unless Stüssi is allowed in the breaks, too.
Congrats to the winners so far.
And thanks for the reports.
Unfortunately, even though they're really well done, they haven't been enjoyable by any means for me as a team manager, so I'll stay away until the end now. Less rant potential like that ^^ Sorry for being inactive, but this month is really ruining our season, and that sucks.

Another great stage for us. Galta has just been super consistent throughout and almost always makes that first selection behind the big 3. That's been great for his GC so far and set him up for several top 5 stage finishes and 4th place on GC by a decent margin. Gaining time on Wellens today was especially nice. Obviously still a lot of tough climbing ahead, but I like our spot. Hopefully when the attacks go off in the final week, it doesn't end up like a 2023 Giro where Galta shoots down the rankings. If one or two guys pass him, so be it—after the Giro, we certainly can't complain about that from the other side.
Depth has also been great the last few mountain stages. Gregaard and Eg in the top 26 now, and took the team classification lead. Great to see. We so often have failed at depth over the years, so it's nice to see it become a strength on some terrains.
The GC fight is becoming very interesting at the top too. Morton feels like one more solid stage could be the difference, but the energy stats do go against him. Will be really cool to follow!

The positive thing is that as we keep losing time, it should give our climbers more leeway in potential breakaways. Not much else to really get us excited, but of course, Vingegaard still has a pretty decent GC position.
And a very interesting battle at the very top. What a win it would be for Bernal if he could hold it till the end, but a good show of strength from Morton today. Should be fun to follow!

Well maybe I was right and Choi was conserving energy! Not sure if the attack helped or hindered him but I did enjoy seeing the aggression with him being the first over a KOM. Climbs his way into a solid GC position once more and in the wider fight with stages like that!

Results are getting better and better, we are hoping for good results of Samolenkov in the remaining two flat stages and maybe Sivakov can climb to 4th GC. Teams Ranking is maybe also up for grabs. Thanks for the stellar reports!

From the classic 7th-7th we go to 8th-8th Little blow from Choi right in Aular's private bits, seems like the fight for 7th is really on between these two! Nice buffer over ninth place for now, but a breakaway can always change that quickly, although it seems for now the big teams keep the mountain breaks rather close, even on a more difficult stage like today's one.
Let's see if Halvorsen still has something in the tank for the next flat stage, or if we can perhaps join a succesful break again, Ruiz might be the perfect candidate for that.
Thanks for the great report of a hectic stage, kb, and thanks for the posting to Ulrich.

This was one of the stages where i really wanted to be in so to join it with Eenkhoorn, Foss and Plapp was great. Unfortunately, the peleton didnt give enough space so it backfired a bit but absolutely worth the attempt. Definintely hope we will see more attempts in the remaining mountain stages. Probably best by Eenkhoorn as he could still climb a bit in the KoM classification.
Very good rides by both Blums and Eenkhoorn. Being in positions 13-15 in the GC with three guys is pretty damn good if they can defend those.
Very large gaps overall on this stage. Should limit the chances for huge GC upsets via break a lot as they would need to gain 15+ minutes
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!
