Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
Hello and welcome to Gent as we preview the first Cobbled PT Classic of the season - Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
Back for its 12th edition (one of which as the Omloop Het Volk in 2015), it has been dominated by the cobbled stars of each division it has been part of.
Sam Bewley is back as defending champion, and he will be a man with the target on his back as he goes for his 3rd victory in the race. Pieter Vanspeybrouck, winning of the Omloop Het Volk in 2015, also lines up for the Carlsberg team, whilst Florian Senechal and Lukas Spengler will big favourites for their teams.
Lukasz Wisniowski who has last year's surprise podium placer Clenne Morvan Moulingui as domestique for company on his season's loan from GCN, will be the main man for Greig-Maersk
Mike Teunissen, Ruben Zepuntke, Marcos Altur and Joeri Stallaert will be there at the finish looking for a big result on the line, and it will be interesting to see if Greg Van Avermaet will still have it in his aging legs to keep up with the others.

So Stallaerts first race for the season, will I keep on delivering like last season? Praying for a podium here, dreaming about beating Bewley but there is a few more tough competitors even if I believe Bewley will win it as usual |

Not sure how good Vanmarcke can be in the cobbles against PT level, even this being a PTHC he made the Top5 last season. A strong result will be needed to overcome East Java's disaster.

Now it's time to come out of the woodwork, Baugnies' first race of the season!
Hoping for a similar year as last in seeing Jerome's constant overachievement (doesn't that just make him an achiever?), but I imagine he'll find it far more difficult this year with some of the trainings.
Can't wait for this one
Thanks for the preview the_hoyle!

So we only have two riders capable of riding on cobbles. No hills to boost Benoot chances really, so p20 would be mind blowing to get. So let's just get this one over with

Professional debut of future cycling megastar Jasper Philipsen is coming!
In such strong competition, I can't really expect aby notable result with my team, but definitely want to see agressive approach with presence in BOTD.
Obviously, Sam Bewley is the man to beat.

Welp, here goes the classics season. I have no idea how the new AI will treat it. I see three outcomes:
1. The race isn't selective enough, and a weaker attacker or sprinter wins, with VSB way behind
2. The race is selective, but for some unknown reason VSB sucks anyway and finishes way behind
3. The race is selective and VSB actually plays to his stats, getting a good result
I've ranked those outcomes on their likelihood to actually occur. Note that Sam Bewley wins in all of them - the only difference is the method and who's around him when he does it.
Our cobbles team got weaker on paper this year, but Nolf was useless as a second guy anyway. Hoping for a good start, but if it's anything like last year, VSB will find a way to screw this up badly.
Thanks for the preview.

Can't wait to see Spengler's cobble debut at his maxed stats! Hoping for a top 10.

It will be the other way around. Can't wait to finish 29th with Tsatevich while Altur finally decides he is a good cobbler and somehow gets a Top 5.
Stacked field, as expected, so I don't think we are getting any points out of this one. I guess I cheer for Altur.

In a PTHC field like this, ISA - Hexacta's cobbled credentials look quite light. Bush however was a reliable point scorer last season, and we rely on him to hang onto the coat-tails of more fancied riders with perhaps Bolivar for company/support. Where we have good representation is in depth for the terrain - so the early km's may well be the most important for us here as presence in the BotD could be an important factor to give one of our 2ndary options a leg up.

Time for him to earn a proper nickname here, so i hope he does well or it's 'Basura' for eternity

And so it begins! Obviously big hopes for a podium from Wisniowski here, and hopefully his training will also pay off. Certainly very interesting to see how Theuns will go here in that regard. Could be the surprise man this classics season.
A bit better support for Wisniowski this test with a couple of loans. Especially interested to see how Pedersen will do. Would be great to see him coming in with a a group not far behind and using his sprint.
Can anyone beat Bewley? Doubt it...

Hope Debesay can punch above his weight for some solid points here with Rowe also in the minor points.
