International Hill Climb Championship
As a pre-season event, a hill climb championship is to be organised in Montreux, Switerland! The format will be World Cup, Knockout style, beginning with 'group stage' races, consisting of 4-8 riders depending on initial numbers, before the best riders advance to a knockout format with 1-on-1 duels!
The race will be contested with a pacer, who will ride a steady tempo up the mountain (to assist PCM's AI), the riders are permitted to sit behind him and wait for the sprint, or attack from further out.
The race will be held up the notoriously steep slopes of the brutal Dent De Jaman, there's a section of rough cobbled road - though it'd only score 1 star in Paris Roubaix - which will make things extra difficult for the punchuers - certainly this will be an interesting test for the riders!
Length: 5.3km
Average Gradient: 13.8%
MO Ratio = 0% (completely Hill)
Cobbles = 1 star
Length of Cobbles: 1.7km
Each team may submit one rider to represent them, however, to ensure that teams across all divisions will have the ability to compete for the title, riders with a hill stat of 74 or above, who also have an OVL above 75.75 are ineligible, if a rider has a hill stat below 74, they must have an AVG below 79.5, all other riders are eligible.
For example:
- Denys Karnulin has a hill stat of 74 and an OVL of 75.90, he is ineligible.
- Gianluca Brambilla has a hill stat of 76 and an OVL of 75.61, he is eligible.
- Mattia Cattaneo has a hill stat of 70 and an OVL of 78.84, he is eligible.
