Tour of Tasmania
The penultimate race of the PT season sees the riders take on 3 stages on the island of Tasmania. We start with a stage designed for the sprinters, followed by a hilly stage in which you would expect gaps to form. Finally we end the race with a TT to decide the final GC - you'd expect the winner to be a puncheur who can TT, but both pure puncheurs and TTers will fancy their chances if they play their cards right on the second stage.

Coppel vs. Ignatiev normally, but I am rooting for Kangert. Hagen could take a win, but Trofimov looks ready to set fire too.
What an amount of sprinters for one stage here!

Very open race between the puncheurs and TTists, of course Bobridge is gonna win though, especially when the Tassie mountains aren't involved.

The hilly stage could well be too hard for both, as the HI/MO rating might not favour them.
I have Trofimov as the big favorite.

My money is on Trofimov for this one, but the field is really strong and there are several contenders. Wouldn't discount Bobridge's chances either, Oz wants to save themselves

Ignatiev, you useless bastard (this year), you have last chance to say goodbye to your Metinvest career with a style. So do it!
Thanks for the preview.

Okay. Key race. Kind of a deja vu, as we had a similar situation three years ago. Home race. Several threats for all three terrains here.. come on. This has to be something!
Bobridge definitely should be capable of aiming for the podium. He did so last year, iirc?
Durbridge.. if he hangs on with a first bigger pack behind the leading groups on the hilly stage, he may grab some points.
Goss.. tricky one. He can achieve something notable here! I hope he will be in the mix.
Come on, Oz! Let's save our a****!

It's very important that we perform according to our abilities here.
Scoring well in the sprint and the TT would give us a cushion in case Kelderman can't set himself apart from Gastauer, de Bie and Skujins. Being in the Top 3 of either stage basically guarantees you some points from the green jersey classification too.
I really hope he can though, and with a good stage 2 he can challenge for a Top 5 overall.
It would also be very important to win the U25 classification against Skujins and de Bie as those few points could be decisive, especially as they count double against direct opposition.
Last but not least, I would like to see a train set up by Felline and Bar, maybe an attack somewhere by Herklotz, and good work by Bol and Mager that maybe leads to some additional GC points.
For the overall, I fancy Trofimov and EBH, but looking at the rankings I have to hope for an upset by someone like Ponzi or Bobridge.

Don't expect any of our riders to score big here, but with Kangert, Koren and Monfort we do have three riders who can score decently.
All in all the main objective is to keep Oz and Movistar behind us in the rankings while also getting Pokerstars and RBC back within shooting range. Not an easy task for sure.

Shamelessly copied from you because that is pretty much how i feel about this race as well. Skujins TT stat hurts so I need a huge hilly stage to score big. Hoping for a selective stage ofc.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

I don´t think it´s a battle between Movistar, Jayco and Gazelle for surviving only. If Bobridge, TvG and alternativly Monfort/Kangert succeed, my team or RBC can be in big troubles.

Should be a very good race for us, like it has been in the past. Expectations are high for Boasson Hagen, I certainly won't mind if he can somehow give us our first race win for the season in the penultimate race. Though, most important is the hilly stage, he really needs to race it aggressive and preferably prove his class and gap most others. Fingers crossed!
Fancy Trofimov or Spilak for the overall win, as they've got the TT ability to decide the race in the TT, and I'll be surprised to see them dropped on the hills. |

Not expecting the world here, but would love to see some action from our Aussie riders like Meyer, Watson and Howson.
I imagine some of Coppel's training were done with a race like this in mind, will be interesting to see how he can cope. Trofimov the favourite for me.

Indeed it was.
Too bad Koretzky lost all chances of a decent GC here, but luckily he was our 3rd tier, which is quite unusual for us. Spilak and Coppel were both well placed, and it doesn't hurt our Team GC chances that he loses a bit of time here.

Happy that Bobridge and Durbridge avoided GC damage, but had hoped for a better Goss result.. TvG with tough luck, to our favour though.
Haig and Dennis lost time. They could have brought decent GC depth here. Obviously Ford was never going to be a threat..

Pity to see the sprinters miss their opportunity. Seemed to be a decent sprint from Kristoff as well, judging by the results.
The Mohoric win must be a very pleasant surprise for Smowz, congratulations!
And now for the nervous hilly stage... |
