The profile/
The Lincoln GP is maybe one of the most prestigious C2's cobbled classics this year and it's no surprise that we will see the division's very best cobblers here in Britain.
A challenging circuit (which has to be raced 13 times for 160km in total) awaits the riders, featuring a short but very tough climb: the Michaelsgate. While it's only 700 meters long, it's averaged with 7.7% slopes and 14% maximum.
The race had is MG-debut in 2012, held as a PCT-race: Pieter Vanspeybrouck took the honours, by beating Frederik Nolf and Adam Blythe.. last year, Chris Stevenson (Ekslpa) took the win thanks to a mid-race attack, ahead of Kiwi talent Tom David (Cadbury) and Nikolas Maes (Allianz).
The startlist/
The favorites/
Rates as the race's most promising riders are De Haes, Joseph and Ostergaard. Those three may be the most dangerous single riders, but of course there are several more names worth a mention (as the recently held Criterium Hainleite proved).
TomTom lines up with an interesting duo Lebris and Criterium Hainleite's 3rd Schoonbroodt, as well as Evonik with Dupont and Saramotins (5th and 8th in Hainleite). Same goes for the PCT-squad Puma, which throws in the likes of Lander, Ringheim, Declerq and also the "German Wunderkind" Herklotz, who shows some great potential already in his first season as a pro.
Takenouchi, Schär/Tronet, Young as well as Hamilton may fancy their chances, too. This race is a tough one and given the rather small peloton (83 riders), it may be hard to control. Let's wait and see.
Note: It's my first report for months, so I'm really sorry I forgot to fix the Puma equipment-bug when racing this. |

Depends on the result if I forgive you this
Celebration screenshots without wheels are infintely better than no celebration shots at all.
Well, that is a pleasantly small field.
We indeed have lots of options.
A bigger group sprint, Lander.
A route favouring more punchy cobblers, Declerq.
A route favouring pure cobblers with a decent sprint to finish things, Ringheim.
Whatever route, Herklotz.
But as it is a C2 race and first of all entered with XP in mind, I'm pretty relaxed watching this. Points are points though!

Very interesting to see such a small field.
After Hainlaite going well this is the next chance for our cobblers to prove that they are worth their spot in our squad. I think the route should fit Saramotins quite well.
However, I think the chances of a succeeding break is high again. With 4 level one riders here (Willwohl, Bauhaus, Grand and Edmondson) I have huge hopes that my team will be part of it.
Of course, a successful mid stage attack by Stoltz would be accepted, too
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

With less teams to participate here than in Erfurt a top 10 for Michael Schär should be the Goal, too. Anyway it seems to be smarter nowadays to sneak a rider into the break.

I'm done with breakaways. We just need to control the race with our team's strength. End of story.

With Eddie Stobart being a British team it would be really nice if they could pull off a shock win here...........fingers crossed |

Small start-list! Expect this race to favour the 'hitters', so although a break should win, should be of strong men rather than just the BoTD surviving (putting myself out there for ridicule if my crystal ball is broken!). With such a small start list though, all team should be able to get decent PPRD, and a couple of teams could see a big boost.
Philosophically speaking, boo to small start-lists!

I'm pretty sure Puma are scoring more in C2 races than in C1 races. |

He does it again
After the GP Oudenaarde Saramotins can snatch up his second cobbled classic. What a great performance!
And really cool to see Herklotz with a great result once again. This guy is capable of everything - even finish on the podium on one wheel - and he still needs so many years to become the real beast that is inside him...

Man, you made my day!

Way more Around 80 points in Middle East, Bretagne would have been around 40 without the late puncture, and this one is 61 points
Declerq is just as much man of the race to get his sprint from the group clean and apparently ridiculously fast.
So Herklotz crosses the 100 points barrier after 7 of 19 races...I just hope that doesn't mean no wage reduction at all next season
Oman: Top 20
Bretagne: nearly a stage win/Top 10
Middle East: one, nearly two stage wins and Top 10
Battenkill: well, nearly Top 50
E3: last man standing from the break
Kenya: ah well forget it
Lincoln: 3rd
Spoiler alert: mid-stage Czech Republic break for a Top 10, mid-race break in Transfaragasan GP to win on the descent.
Specifically for CT teams: Barcelona which looks like a nice fit from a bunch and Cigar City which looks like this.
You were warned

I cannot believe this! How many times can this happen? The breakaway is let go EVERY SINGLE COBBLE STAGE! I can't take this anymore. This stupid AI has ruined the entire plan of my team's season. Goddammit.

I don't know what edition was the last you played yourself, but this is the least surprising of all AI bugs by now.
(don't get me wrong, I feel you, re: Berlin)

I notice the same in EPIC, passive control team results in a breakaway win way too often with PCM13 AI :/
Thanks for the report, but so disappointing all cobbled races go to a breakaway when you have the top favourite.

Bad result for us... a compensation for the relatively good harvest at Hainleite.
Gratz to Evonik and thanks for the nice read, tsmoha!
