Wisniowski was too much for Barrio. He still didn't lose without a fight, but the Pole is an amazing rider. Going into the R16 is a great result for Barrio, hopefully not his bright spot of the season

Wow, was quite surprised to make it through round 2, but never expected Juarez would even get close to Boom, so surprise has moved up a notch from quite to very! Lars definitely got his tactics wrong here waiting on a sprint given Daniel's characteristics. I expected the cobbles to be the defining factor in this match-up; surely Gaday will have analysed this and apply the appropriate lesson in the QF. Hopefully the relative success for South American registered riders continues into the regular season!
Not really any other major surprises. The guys with a serious dual puncheur + cobbled threat dominate those that have made it thus far as the non-cobbler puncheurs more or less sent home now.

Guess Boom has to prepare for the real season and hence stopped here. |

Well, that was definitely way better from Sinkeldam. Maybe the 1v1's are better for him given his lack of acceleration. Either way, this round looks to be the end given the competition.

Another brilliant victory from Wisniowski. A proper test waiting for him now, with the similar skillset that Sinkeldam has. Should be exciting!

Always going to be tricky with the Sinkeldam draw I guess

11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

A little late with the comment... Too bad Archimandritis couldn't make it. Close but no cigar in round 2. He wouldn't have beat any in round 3, but would have been fun to see him try.
Would be interesting to see a longer ride, maybe 14-15km with a DH also, to see if the one attacking first wins or if there is some tactical issue also.

That's always a possibility for next year, though I'll keep a secret and see what intersting hill based profiles offer the best AI, as some routes the AI really does not act realistically on.

Without attacking there was really no chance to win that one. Happy Sinkeldam made it this far.

Wow, just as I was getting hope, Gaday gets beaten by an outsider
Rooting for Juarez now so I can say I lost to the winner, though Wisniowski in this competition feels like cheating. Thanks for doing this, much more fun than the continental championships IMO |

Semi-Finals are up! That means the final is:
Spoiler | Grand Final | | | | 3rd Place | | Wisniowski | Lukasz | | | Marzuki | Nur Amiral | | Juarez | Daniel | | | Polanc | Jan |
Possibly the most opposite paths imaginable from the two riders who will be contesting the finale, Lukasz Wisniowski has won every race so far, with his biggest challenge being in the first round, where Smirnovs was millimetres off winning. Since then, every race has been a clear victory for the Pole, in sprints, breaks, cobbles and smooth tarmac!
Daniel Juarez however, had a weaker start, only third in his first race, behind Lagab and Naesen, though he picked it up in the second round, dominating the race and with an early attack. He went on to surprise by beating Boom and Gaday in sprints, before attacking Polanc in an encore to Round 2 to seal a spot in the final!
Who will win? Wisniowski is likely the favourite but Juarez has proven the he doesn't care so much about favourites, so he definitely won't go down without a fight!

Juarez is a nice surprise, cool to see him in the final! Wisniowski has to be the favourite though, especially seeing how he has dominated all his head to head challenges so far.
Will we get to see video from the final? |

The winning streak continues! Very happy with Wisniowski's performance so far, perhaps a bit lucky that the latest duels have been rather slow, given that he "only" have a hill stat of 71. Polanc and Sinkeldam was initially the two riders I feared most because of the similar skill set, but a better hill than Wisniowski. Surprised to see Polanc go out in this round, so must say that I fear what Juarez will do in the final...

That would be a cool way to end it, I really can't promise anything as it was a mess when I tried earlier, but I'll do my best.
